- If you’re an actor on high-tension shows like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, you probably understand that you won’t have much job security. For plot-driven reasons, your character could be brutally killed off. However, most TV shows are not quite like that. Some long-running shows even offer the best job security in the acting game. But somehow, there are still actors who find a way to mess that opportunity up.
If an actor is a real pain on set or is causing trouble otherwise, then their character may be in serious trouble. Here are characters killed off because of the actor's behavior.

For years I've been mystified why the character of Jimmy was killed off so soon and abruptly in Boardwalk Empire, since so much had been put into his development. While his death wasn't entirely out of the question, it seemed there were still many places for the character to go. Very interesting!
Shannen Doherty on Charmed. I don't remember if she quit or was fired. I know she was quite difficult to work with though.

She was fired from Beverly hills 90210 in the 90s but she herself decided to leave Charmed as her and Alyssa Milano had problems working together. I also think it wasn't fair nor right that Aaron Spelling fired Shannen from BH90210 but not his own daughter who also was a reckless member of the cast Shannen and Tori both were trouble makers back then.

It's not uncommon to have certain plans for characters years in advance, untrue.

Ok. Davies was amazing in Sliders. The man is classicaly trained and has worked on big scale films and well known actors, producers, and directors. It is unavoidable that he would complain about the script, specially since Sliders loved to use silly "filler" episodes that contributed nothing to the plot.
Per Patrick Dempsey, cheating on his wife is not justification for firing him from the show.

John Rhys-Davies my favorite character on Sliders! You have to give him that! It did have some bad writing, but it was the 90's!
Sliders was the only one of those shows that I even bothered to watch - the others were about as enjoyable as reading an out of date telephone directory.

Claire Pham he got kicked off the show because apparently he was a huge dick and got into a physical altercation with someone else on set.
Show explained the killer 'Mr Scratch' was after him so he and his kid went into witness protection.
His second physical altercation on set (not with the same person). Once the news got out I imagine the Suits In Charge didn't feel they had much choice, they'd get crucified for not firing him.

How about Charlie Harper getting killed off twice? No need to recap Charlie Sheen's behavior, but having been literally thrown under a bus, we learn that Rose had staged it so she could keep him a prisoner. Then in the series finale he escapes only to have a piano dropped on him by a very satisfied Chuck Lorre. In turn, Lorre turned that into a second, funnier joke when a second piano lands on Lorre.

I fully agree with John Rhys-Davies and his opinions about the writing; "Sliders" really went downhill after the first season, and even more so after his character was killed off. Frankly, he was the best thing about the show.
Kudos to Monaghan for daring to speak up about a fellow costar who also is the main actor of the series. That takes balls.

Ha! I was a big fan of John Rhys-Davies because of his appearance in a Bond film. I was a little excited when I ran into him in 1998 and I didn't know what to say so I blurted out, "Are you still doing Sliders?" And he said, "No, they killed me in that." I wouldn't have asked if I had known his departure was contentious.
I thought he sort of wanted out but maybe that was just a rumor. It seemed like both sides wanted him to leave.

Not to forget Thomas Gibson from Criminal Minds. He had an an argument with the writer, then he hit him or something. Due to Thomas, he was defending himself cause the writer attacked him. They talked on the set, things were good but the day after he heard he was fired. Well, I loved Thomas as Hotchner very much. The actor was probably problematic but still..I quit watching because his character isn't there anymore.
What about T-dog on The Walking Dead? He was fired for always being late to set and always being unprepared.

She was supposed to be killed off. Izzy was supposed to die at the end of season 5 but TR Knight wanted early release from his contract so George was killed instead. Then because of Izzy's miraculous recovery they couldn't kill her so they turfed her by firing the character and making her disappear.
The Burke character was fired/written off because (I've read a while ago... I believe) he used anti-gay slur against the actor who had played George O’Malley? Later that one was killed off in a brutally way - at least in the series ;)

Katherine Heigl wasn't fired. She left for a while in season 6 because she adopted a baby from Korea, came back for an episode, which turned out to be her final episode, was supposed to be in the last 5 episodes of season 6, but decided to leave entirely to spend more time with her new kid.
