One Ok Rock is one of the best rock bands in the world, not just in Japan. Though Japan seems to be putting out more quality than anyone the last few years. Taka is level with any other vocalist out there.

Ive followed one ok rock sense 2010. Seen how they developed over the years and they never cease to amaze me with their individual skills and their productions. This song does give me a Christian rock praise feel. Sadly they are now falling into the typical Japanese copyright strike issue that plagues some of my favorite bands...
I would argue that one ok rock in general is something of a spiritual experience haha 😂 I'd love to see your take on some of their acoustic sessions, such as studio jam of Your Tears are Mine!
anyone who loves these guys should give Siam Shade a listen, both bands have made tracks used in the rurouni kenshin or samurai x franchise, Siam shade for the anime one of its later endings being 1/3 Junjou na kanjou and One ok rock for the live action movies being the beginning
Bassist Ryota's wife is Michelle, sister of singer Avril Lavigne. And vocalist Taka's new girlfriend is Emily Rudd, who played Nami in the live-action anime film ONE PIECEE.
I don't know if you've heard of an old metal band called X-Japan. They also had a fantastic vocalist. It's not the same vibe as One Ok Rock, but both bands are amazing. I recommend the songs: Tears, Forever Love, Say Anything and Endless Rain.
Had not heard of these guys. Great pick-up on the Christisn Rock feel. My first thought was Aussie Hillsong United. Somehow my mind wandered with the English lyrics, to an era of Emperor Hirohito and his kamikaze pilots... 🫣 Had to slap myself 😂
I feel like One Ok Rock rather than drawing from something like religion, it draws out the good in people because a lot of their songs have messages, some very powerful. We Are and Stand Out Fit In come to mind instantly as examples of this. Their music has mostly come off as empowering, empathizing, and at least to me in a weird way, motivating. As in to be a better individual. An example for empathizing for me would be Be the Light. It was a song they did after a tsunami happened in Fukushima if i recall right.

Not Christian Rock at all but I get what you mean Beth. It's that kind of music your praising and adoring someone/something. In this case we can say they're praising themselves, himself or even yourself. We Are is just like that. Maybe a little bit darker but they are praising. So that's why I get what you mean. Not the same genre but the same intention. Maybe you would like The Beginning too. Try it!

Fun fact his brother, Hiro is a singer too from My First Story and his voice is very unique .
Both of his parents are incredibly famous singers too aha, his Dad is one of Japan’s best selling artists ever.
