A rollercoaster of a story. I got offered the gents club to begin with and passed on it because I'm funding two huge projects on the dark side and didn't want to begin something else until they are finished.
Webby has been talking about getting his own club for a while so I thought lets send him the details and surprisingly he wanted to go view it.
Then one thing led to another and we all got excited and I committed more than I probably should have. 100k baht for 10% and I eventually ended up to committing to run it fully as Webby got progressively more anxious.
I'd have done it for the fun regardless as I think it would have turned into National Lampoons Animal House and we'd have had Toga parties and other extreme craziness.
Nothing really lost in any of this. Apart from maybe some stress on Webby for 3 days while he mentally tortured himself.

I made the same decision in 2022. I woke up early, walked down to Soi 6, stood in Soi 6 at 3:30 am in the morning when there was nobody there, I got real quiet and I asked myself the question "do you want to own a bar here". No it's not for me.
I realized I would be trading my peace of mind for troubles. Peace of mind is very undervalued.

Friendships change. Money does strange things to people. He might have an accident and his share transfers to someone not so lovely. Contracts in Thai. Something happens at the club that you have to deal with that makes you seriously unpopulare e.g. theft, fights, not paying tea money. People with money don't get rich by doing other people favours. Poor lease conditions - not taking totally independent legal advice, working not allowed for your visa, jealous Thai reporting you for something real or imaginery etc etc etc etc. How many reasons do you need? You seem like an intelligent bloke. I assume the silly 'can't lose' comments were for RUclips impact?

Well that did sound like a really good deal. On the point of you couldn't make a loss, as a retired business owner my feeling is there is no such situation. It would have been a huge weight and responsibility, that might have been great fun, but could have been a nightmare. That would depend on you. Don't look back and wonder, you decided what was right for you and you're the only one that could know. I take my hat off to Maggie May for giving you this great opportunity, he seems to have been very kind and generous; it just wasn't the right time for you.
I'm looking forward to all the great content you will now publish and who knows what great thing is round the corner. If you become bored with retirement, it does happen to some, then maybe you can consider a scheme. For my part I retired and now I still do my work privately part time without pressure, and am learning to play music to a level I never had the time for before. So in similar circumstances in my trade in music industry I probably would do the same as you have just now. Freedom is wonderful so hold on hard, because when it's gone it is gone.

Basically you had it handed to you on a silver plate by your good and trusted friends with 100% support and you still bottled it. There was zero risk with huge upside potential. When you’re on RUclips, you’re always gonna be open to criticism. If you put yourself out there you’re gonna get it coming back to you . let’s be honest there’s nothing worse than someone hiding me behind the screen and writing negative things. Don’t let it get you down keep up the good work but one thing is for sure, I have never been to a Gentlemans club and I’ve been out there many many times and will be back out in November maybe you’ll have to pop my cherry

It's great that you know what is important to you and what will make you happy. Obviously the lust for money and material things is not at the top of your list. Good for you hope you stay happy with your life.

Go with your gut, if it doesn’t ring ya bell don’t do it, I was a wage earner all my life, than similar to you in my late 40’s offer the business deal of my life, I went through all the bullshit to set everything up and never had a day off after that for years till I could find a way out that I didn’t lose everything, money to be made but no time to spend it or take time out, when I did get out I went back to employee and was never happier now retired early 50’s

Genuine comment here, mate. I’d love to know how a bloke who worked in a factory can retire at 48. Maybe you could make a video on this if it’s not too personal as I’m sure many people would like to see the template. I’ve been watching your videos and you’re obviously not counting every penny and sat at home eating beans on toast every day. I for one would love to know the secret to early retirement from a working class lad.

That all sounded way too good to be true, there is always a risk and doing business with mates often means losing a mate.
Did the other dude have the option of taking your 40% and his then dealing directly with the other dude?
If money is not an issue and its not preventing you living how you want then why exchange time for more money?
I try not to change my mind at the last minute if I can avoid it because it put others out. Its hard to never do it but its best not to make a habit of it.

Fair play, looks like you followed your gut feeling, which is always a good idea. I know from other videos you are conscious of your drinking so defiantly the right choice. Have you thought about doing some charity work? Good for the soul and mind
