- On this episode we're back with Rob and his 1996 Nissan Skyline R33 GTR! This time he's back with a new round of modifications including a single HKS T51R turbo, nitrous, and drive by wire. Tuned on a Haltech Ecu this Spool imports 2.8L Stroker makes 850AWHP on a mustang dyno. This is hands down TRC's favorite R33 GTR, enjoy some amazing RB sounds!

Not anymore. They've already fucked up our entire market to the point where a shitbox NA MX-5 goes for nearly 15K. I just bought a Mazdaspeed 6 for half that. Good luck finding GTR for under 100k and RX7's for under 50k. My dreams are crushed until my 30s now, I remember when I'd look on Carsales as a 10 year old and see GTR's going for 20k :(

I know not everyone loves the R33 but for me its the perfect GTR and this one is absolutely insane, I can't imagine how much a build like that would cost $$$

The R33 is my favourite because its underrated! Definitely not a wrong choice for me! Im a big fan of GTSTs more than GT-Rs though.

@Vampyric Winter no there’s a list of every car you can import whether it’s 25 years old or not. Every year of the R33 is on there. Like you could also import a 2007 Subaru Forester. In Japan they have the STI version which is pretty sick.

Fun fact for you, the original Godzilla is actually the R32. Named Godzilla because it was beating every race it was in. Then the R33 came out, R34 made it in Fast n Furious. So the R33 doesn’t have much rep. Even the R31 has rep for being in japanese anime series. (: the R33 is the shit in my opinion.

This R33 sounds exactly the same as the R34 in 2F2F.
The sound of the rb26 is legendary also you have to give a lot of credit to the guys who edit and shot these videos the way this was edited was astonishing beyond measures . Great video great quality and great audio absolutely perfect . Thanks!

The R33 is a freaking beast. I was amazed to see the times it put up on Tsukuba of all places back in the day when it was being tested against other cars.

Side note: He stated the newer HKS turbos are made by Mitsubishi. That’s surprising, as they have literally given up on every single platform. Every day they axe various part numbers, even for items that have sold well for years and still have a high demand. On the turbo side of things, you used to be able to get a small batch from Mitsu heavy industries, now they require a massive order. They are a massive company though, the auto side is probably a write off at this stage. Sad times.
Mitsubishi makes Trust/Greddy turbos so I don't see how they would also make their #1 competition's turbo also? From what I understand HKS are Garrett-based turbochargers, but not sure which company actually makes them -- if it's HKS, Garrett (Allied Signal), or some other company.
No....mines r34 with 600 hp is faster than this and with a manual transmission...

Many cars come with HKS turbos stock including Garret turbo. My Vectra VXR has a TD04 Garret Twin Scroll Turbo from factory and it was supplied by Mitsubishi
@@patricklachance6880 No faster in straight line too, that 600hp Mines R34 is so fast & well tuned with the right parts its actually faster than most 1000hp+ GTR'S in straight line AND in corners, the powerband and fine Mines tuning, & right choice of parts, makes a BIG difference on an RB

Sounds like a HKS Super Dragger.. it's very distinct and I know it well as my buddy's MK4 Supra has it.
It's the compressor housing on t51r turbos that make the sound. There's a company called ocd works that makes a t51r upgrade for most turbos. I have it on my 7675 turbo on my mustang and it sounds awesome. Little bit of rice makes things nice.

I've been waiting for this era to arrive for a looong time. Now that importing GT-Rs and other cars of the era is legal, the tuning community is definitely going to town like I knew would happen. Amazing to see the US doing what we knew they could achieve with these platforms all along!

Back when I was but knee high to a grass hopper GTR's with this much power were an absolute handful. This R33 looks surprisingly drivable, especially with a sequential... Man, I love sequentials.

Australian skylines have so many that are road driven 8 sec cars 7 sec even some, awd at big hp allows to not need massive big tires and tubbed rear to be 7 -8sec I’m sure you guys will catch up to speed eventually it just shows the potential
