the "nakamura's influence" part is one of the most interesting things I've seen on this channel, it would be great to see more of these comparisons from time to time
im glad the cubes were mentioned, in the early 2010s i remember noticing the cubes in action scenes and wondering why they seemed like they were being more prominent, although a lot of it was probably just me being exposed to it more
Incredible montage and video once again, thanks you !! So much informations and animation showcase. His last work on 2024 Heroaca movie was like a culmination of his modern style, it was pretty impressive watching it on the big screen. Can't wait to see it again on sakugabooru to analyse every frames haha. (and I hope he will be on Heroaca finale season !)
I hadn't realized he worked on Escaflowne. I mostly associate him with FMA Brotherhood. Needless to say he has a pretty recognizable style that is often copied by other animators. Just goes to show how influential he is.
He's almost 60 now and his latest work in the new MHA movie is still one of the most ambitiuous/greatest piece of action animation i've ever seen 💀 What an absolute legend
Love these! Also glad to see some more cuts in full screen. I get that it was probably to avoid copyright claims, but it was unfortunate that videos about the crazy animation talent on display only has it take up a third of the screen.
Unfortunately on my phone I couldn't appreciate fully the quality as multiple animations simultaneously appeared to small on screen...hope I can watch again on a big TV some day... Nice work!
Personally greatly dislike the cubes, especially with how much they are used nowdays, but love the hand-to-hand/sword battle coreos and the cameramovement during them.
In After Effects. 3D shape layers, expressions on things like rotation for the movement, overlaid a 2nd cube on top of it with blending modes for the glowing outlines, TV static and keyframed displacement maps for texture. I’m writing a blog post that goes into detail about making these vids, I’ll make a YT post about it when it’s out.
maybe unpopular opinion but i hate how the new animes are animated specially one piece for example, I know the characters are really strong now but, fma and soul eater is really all the animation you need... demon slayer is also the only one that fuses cgi really well at least from the first 2 seasons that ive seen... wish we could go back to better days, heck even prefer the crappy light show yuyuhakusho gives sometimes then compared to what we have now its really comical. shows like one punch man, gurren lagann, and even mob psycho are suppose to be comical most times so their animation can be silly, but they keep putting all these flashy animations in the supposed serious shows man
The streets were waiting for this one

He and Monty Oum inspired me to become an animator.

This is beautiful. An amazing testament to the artist's works. I'm going to have to watch it at least 3 times. There is a lot to take in on screen.

7k views in 7 days is a crime for this video, I hope it pops off somehow. Great work!
