There's a slightly easier way to do this. When you twist the loops through the center, instead of twisting around the entire opposite loop, twist around the part of the opposite loop that is closest to the permanent starting knot on both sides. It spares you from pulling the loop through the part of the laces between the 1st and 2nd eyelets. *EDIT* I should add that when you grab the segments of the laces near the permanent starting knot, you have to pull those segments opposite directions so that the loop that crosses over wraps further away from you, and the segment that crosses under wraps closer toward you. If you spend like 20 minutes with it, you'll probably see what I'm talking about. I'm too lazy to make a video on it.
