You have the Best teaching videos ever! I knit continental and most videos dont have that option ,Thank You Thank You! I can understand what you doing and saying1 I specially like how calmly and softly you speak. Makes me relax while trying new techniques. Keep up the good work!
Great video. Both the knitting and you explanation is very clear.. I like the repetition to really help cement the information! And your voice is so soothing. Thank you!
This was so simple to watch and so easy to understand. Thank you also for doing the bind off on plain stockinette, the others were all on ribbing which just confused the **** out of me. You made it simple. I can bind off my shawl now! Love the tattoos btw!! 🧡
Omg this would be perfect for the edge of a sleeve just like you mentioned. Thank you so much for demonstrating in both continental and English. I knit continental and my mother knits English. I can’t wait to show her this!
And if you want to get the decorative edge while binding off the front side, just reverse the instructions-- Have the right side facing; purl the 1st stitch, yarn over front to back (instead of back to front), purl second stitch, then "one and 2 hop over 3", and so on .
This bind off was recommended on a shawl I'm currently working on, by Expressions Fiber Arts Can't wait for the final row to try this! Your tutorial is amazing.
I found slipping the 2 stitches over the 3rd stitch on right needle quite tedious. Instead I used a crochet hook. That made it so easy!!! Give it a try. Thanks for the video.
You don't have to bind off in rib, even though the area you are binding off is ribbed stitches. The bind off will not look strange if it is done just as described in this video. The stretch of the rib will not be impeded. If you want an invisible stretchy bind off for rib, a sewn tubular bind off is best.
Excellent introduction!! How much yarn would you suggest that I et aside for this bind off? 3-4 times the article on the needles is suggested in articles but I’m unsure what bind off is used…
I am very new to knitting and I’m have such a hard time picking up the two to jump the one. Yarn is splitting and I’m ending up with a mess. Practice makes perfect I guess. 🤷♀️
Is there a cast on that gives a similar look so I could have my project match throughout? And what what you suggest for the sides ? I’m thinking in terms of a blanket . Would love to see that pretty braid all around it 🙂
Andrea Mowry wonderful!! Thank you so much for responding. I know you’re quite the busy lady! I can’t wait to try this and so grateful you have a video for the twisted German cast on!! 😄❤️
Nice one; smart. Thank you. Doing flip over mittens without real pattern making extra palm piece as a continuation flap on just one of the three dpn needles and wanted a stretchy bind off because anything on your hand has to be soooooo flexible right? I am happy with the resulting fru fru icord-ish edge, even though it is on the inside where... TRUST ME ... nobody will see it. But it is like that tree in the forest. I will know it is there ;)
Africo I don’t do a yarn over for the Icelandic bind off. It’s more similar to a basic bind off, except you pass the live stitch back to the left needle, over the next stitch in line, to knit and drop off. That probably makes zero sense written out, but I’m sure there are videos out there.
I want to have the purl bumps on the wrong side. How do I go about that if I’m knitting in the round? Also I’m binding off the ribbing of the So faded pint size sweater, would the yarn over be different for the purls ?
This is a brilliant tutorial, but as an Italian, I don't know why the working yarn over the left hand is called 'Continental'. I have never seen any Italian knitter, or anyone in France, who knits (lived there for 7 years) use the yarn passing from the left hand... And my Spanish SiL hasn't ever seen it done in Spain either! Other than that minor picky point - excellent video!
I come back to this video literally every time I bind off. Thank you!
This is the best video, slow, quiet, and so helpful. Thanks.
1 & 2 hop over 3. Cute and really helpful for me to remember what to do. I love you Andrea Mowry!
This is my go to video whenever I forget. Thanks so much for this lovely tutorial. Your voice is always so comforting. ❤

I come back to this video every time I need to do this bindoff.

Love this!! You do such a great job teaching!!

Your voice is so soothing. I love this bind off. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Thanks! I just finished a hat that was first too loose, then too tight, and is now just perfect!

Thanks for sharing this. Beautifully taught.
❤❤ thank you for making this video so easy to follow, 3,2 over 1
You explained it so crazy well I’m so less confused and can actually tackle this yay so excited thank you 😊
Fantastic teaching, you are so easy to learn from. Learning this bind off for Malibu Shawl by Jodi. Thank you 🙏🏼 so much! 💖
I just finished my first bottom up sweater and I didn't want to end up with a tight neck, so this is going to be perfect!
OMG. That's it? Thank you so much. I never tried it because it seemed so complicated.
Thank you so much. The best bind off I found so far
You can reverse which side is which by knitting it eastern style: knit into the back of the stitch and wrap your knit in the opposite direction.
It also works for binding off on front side if you purl instead of knit, and wrap the yarnovers front to back.
Very helpful, thanks, and thanks for demonstrating in English and continental.
Awesome hint on the bind off on the purl side!!! Wowzers!!!
Can hardly wait to try that... thanks!

Perfect tutorial
Absolutely love your tutorials ❤

How do you manage this when the pattern is K 1 P1 or K 2 P 2 ribbing?
You don't have to bind off in rib, even though the area you are binding off is ribbed stitches. The bind off will not look strange if it is done just as described in this video. The stretch of the rib will not be impeded.

You are so amazing. Thank you for sharing all your talents with us💕
What needle size do you increase by to do the bind off? Wonderful instruction!
Excellent introduction!! How much yarn would you suggest that I et aside for this bind off? 3-4 times the article on the needles is suggested in articles but I’m unsure what bind off is used…
Great bind off and clear instructions, many thanks.🍂🐨
genius! thanks Andrea :)
So, so helpful!
is there a specific cast on method you would pair with this bind off method?
for example, if I was using this bind off method for a simple scarf, is there a cast on method that would look somewhat similar to this?
Thank you, this is awesome!!
I love it! Thanks!
Thank you very much! From Japan.
Excellent! Thank you
I'm brand new to knitting and I feel like I can do this
This is great info, but my volume is all the way up and I can barely hear. Any way you can increase the volume on your end? Thanks....
Would you do the same thing if you’re binding off in 1x1 ribbing?
You are my hero.
This bind of us awesome !!!!

clear instruction, great tips - thank you!
Brilliant!

I like to use a Twisted German Cast On :)

Wonderful
Looks like the double chain bind off.. Or is there a difference?
learn something new and really amazing

Did anyone else have trouble getting the yarn over stitch onto the left needle?
Thanks
Great!
Is this not what is called the Icelandic Bind off ?

You would want to turn your work for the bind off so the purl bumps end up on the inside.
Andrea Mowry 👍🏼how about the yarn overs, is it the same for both knits and purls ?

Nicce video, good camera work. But please speak up! No need to whisper.
her kids were probably sleeping! 😂. Very helpful video. Thanks!
❤️️
Can Í just suggest that you speak louder. Its really hard hearing what you are staying. I have to use my earphones to listen.
Your volume is way too low !
