A Ronald Regan movie is posted on the Theater Billboard when Marty first walks into 1955 era town. The saying is 'Make like a tree...and leave(leaf)'.
Yes, Reagan was a class B movie actor, who got into politics, and became governor of CA before running for president in 1980. Many people couldn't believe that someone who had so little experience in political office could win. (I remember clearly the shock of that election night.) Doc asks who was vice-president, Jerry Lewis? Lewis played an annoying imbecile to Dean Martin (and went on to raise money for kids with MS). Then he asks if Jack Benny was secretary of the treasury. Benny was a comedian whose schtick was being a tightwad. A classic joke of his was a robber holds him up, demanding his money or his life. Silence. The robber asks "well?" Benny says "I'm thinking about it!"
Doc also thinks that an actor like Reagan could become president because of the "portable tv studio" (video recorder). The Nixon-Kennedy debates in 1960 were the first ones ever to be televised. Kennedy got the standard makeup for a tv appearance. Nixon declined, thinking makeup was for girly men, but the tv lights made him look pale and washed out. Many people who heard the debates thought Nixon won but those who WATCHED it on tv felt Kennedy won. (The election was a squeaker and Kennedy's winning could be attributed to how he looked on tv.)
The guys sho said Marty was too loud is the actual artist of the song Marty was performing, great reaction
There's no "recall" on the DeLorean. The car reappears because Doc and Marty have now "caught up" to the time period it was sent to.
Basically, Doc sends the DeLorean 1 minute into the future. For Einstein, the trip is instantaneous. For us (moving through time normally), we have to wait that 1 minute until Einstein's destination time elapses.
Another way of thinking about it: If you sent the car 1 year into the future, you'd see it disappear and you could then go home; you'd have to wait the 1 year before returning to the parking lot so you could see it "arriving."
@sixstanger00 The opening scene notice we don't see Michael J. Foxes face because it isn't Michael J. Fox. He wasn't available that day of shooting LOL! 👟🔌🎸💥
The screenwriting in this movie is basically perfect. Screenwriters study this script.
It is also one of the greatest trilogies ever made. Though, out of time travel movies, my current favourite is Primer. It’s an independent film but it’s absolutely glorious.
The person who plays the teacher who disqualified Marty at the audition is Huey Lewis. He wrote and sang the movie's title song "That's the power of love."
Biff’s quote was _supposed_ to be, “Make like a tree, and *_leave.”_*
To _park_ IS referring to parking the car…
…and then getting it on in the backseat.
Marty didn't give Goldie the idea to become mayor, he already KNEW he was going to be mayor because he was the mayor in 1985.
this is one of those super special 80s movies man. so so good. I have seen it lots of times and I still love it :D just classic :D
1. Cranky principal Strickland/James Tolkan also played the ship's squadron leader in "Top Gun".
2. The teacher that tells Marty, "I'm afraid you're just too darn loud" is Huey Lewis himself. (Heart of rock and roll)
3. Eric Stoltz was first cast as Marty, but he didn't play well with others and was fired. Some of his long shots are still in the movie.
4. The flammable material set on fire with the model exercise had to have been put there on purpose. (movie magic).
5. It's always fun to see how people react to the Marty and his mom car scene. 🤣
6. George McFly/Crispin Glover didn't like that the story ended with the family being prosperous.
7. Twin Pines Mall becomes Lone Pine Mall when Marty takes one out when he goes back to 1955.
8. IMVHO part II is the best of the trifecta.
9. If you haven't already checkout an OUTSTANDING movie where Christopher Lloyd plays the heavy you must do "Who Framed Roger Rabbit".
As a fan of this movie (in which I originally saw theaters when I was 21. You do the math), I watch a lot of people's 1st time reaction watching this movie. And I must say, I really enjoy yours. You did not understand a couple of parts of the movie (but understandable cause of age of movie) but you understood most in which a lot of other reactors didn't catch on to. So thumbs up for you. 🚗
15:15 Birdwatching? There's a TVtrope called "Naughty Birdwatching".
38:50 Someone mentioned that Biff may have been happier in this job than in his old timeline's job.
50 cents to see a movie is equivalent to 5.87 in today's money.
Also after this Lea Thompson who played the mom...she next went to the very first official Marvel movie which was made by Stephen Spielberg and George Lucas from Star Wars. Called HOWARD THE DUCK. Not thw most popular at the time but became a cult classic made with mostly practical effects.
Doc mentions that Twin Pines Mall, which becomes Lone Pine Mall, was farmland owned by Mr. Peabody. That is a refence to the Mr. Peabody and Sheman segment of The Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon about a time -traveling dog.
I love watching Back to the Future reactions and seeing what people catch! You did great my man! Can't wait to see you continue the saga!
Awesome movie and great reaction..u followed it very well. Two is very good as well, 3 ok.
Make like a tree and leave, Biff couldn't get it right.
🌳🍃🍃🍃
goldie would have had the idea to be mayor on his own regardless as he was already doing it before marty went back in time and changed things. same with all the other stuff. they happened before marty made changes but marty might have made them happen in a different timeframe or way to before.
6:01 I didn't learn it from Game of Thrones, but I did learn it from British television... particularly comedians, along with British panel shows, and British memes. I was already talking like an amateur Brit, but now I'm a pro.
That was great!! 😃
Marty "torturing" his dad with Van Halen and playing a very wild Eddie Van Halen style solo at the dance are not coincidences. Eddie Van Halen was born in 1955, the same year Marty travel to.
@campagnollo the audio cassette actually says "Edward" Van Halen LOL!📼🤔🎧🎸
@@SuperMarioBrosIII They had to. Van Halen members didnt want to be a part of the movie, but Eddie did so they got away with putting Van Halen in the movie by writing Edward.
You have no idea what it was like to see it opening weekend. Everything you experienced...imagine 800 people in a big theater expediting it together. popcorn was flying.
I was years old. My mother and older sister by 4 years went. I was a toddler and was blown away. I remember the night vividly.
I only just noticed that the Delorian has no blue LEDs in it. This is because blue LEDs weren't developed until 1989.
Excellent reaction!!!! I like how you got so emotionally involved right away!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Biff said it wrong. Make like a tree and leaf (leave)
Is it just me, or does Biff only ever say that when he’s inside somewhere? I guess it makes some sort of sense to him that to make like a tree, you have to “get outta here” since that’s where trees usually are. Of course, Biff’s not all that bright either.
"Park" was a term back then meaning making out in the car.
Yes, because a couple could go park in Lovers' Lane and "neck" or "pet."
And there was the backseat if things went much further than making out.
thankyou. i'd guessed it meant something like after watching this movie decades ago but never bothered to look it up.
After the 2nd movie ends there is a trailer for the 3rd movie. You can skip it or watch it depending on how you feel about spoilers.
A teaser is not a spoiler.
@@pippilongstockingfan it can be for some. . Great yt name btw
Great reaction! Have you ever seen A Christmas Story? If not, you may like it and would be a cool reaction. Thanks!
To go "Parking" means making out. If I need to explain making out then this world is totally gone.
You cut the entire climax of the film!
He probably wasn't saying much bc he was watching
"Parking" meant making out.
the most inaccurate part of the whole film... is when the AK47 jams
It was a while before I noticed the terrorist was stammering to say “idiotic Soviet gun”. 😄
you didn't know Ronald Reagan was an actor???? i keep forgetting how young you are.....lololol
Right, a lot of younger people don't know that. I'm only 46 and I knew he was an actor back in the 50's.
Before you watch the sequel, re watch the first one. You missed about 50% of what was going on. And stop over thinking everything.
50% ? What did I miss other than the personal lives of his siblings?
