Cousin, I am so glad you took the space needed to protect your mental health and your family last week. I can't imagine how tired you must have felt. As to the episode, it was so good. Poor Vic but they had been telegraphing ALL season that he would meet a terrible end and we knew it was going to be Oz. You tried to get Vic to go to school but as you know a hard head makes for a soft behind. The last few episodes have done a brilliant job of showing Oz as what he truly is, selfish, evil, manipulative, needy and pathetic. He is doomed to never have what he truly wants. I love how the show juxtaposes him and Sofia. It positions them as mirrors but that isn't quite true and they show how for all their similarities they are slightly different- Sofia has a little bit more humanity and while she is left back in her personal hell, it is telling that she is left with the possibility of connection while Oz isn't. Also, I can't talk about him and his mama, talk about creepy and oedipal. Also that Denzel in Glory reference took me out! Had me hollering!

They really had us going back and forth with the sympathy for Oz. Like Tony Soprano, he's awful, but you understood his motives for the most part. Then you get to the episode with his brothers and have the confirmation that something is fundamentally wrong with him, but wonder if there's some light in there anyway. When he kills Vic you know there's no light in him at all.
Oz terrible for making Frances stay in that room with zero decor, one lone hospital bed and needing help with bodily functions. She begged him not to make her live that way.

Great review for a great show! The complexity of the story was everything. Along with the supreme level of acting, this is a series that has many seasons in it. It was a delight to hear your take on the show. By the way, I love green olives.
There was only supposed to be one session, but I I heard some rumors about a season 2. I'm sure they'll be backing the money truck up if they actually do another season 😂
This show was SOOOOO Freakin' good and they wrapped it with no loose ends. A lot of these other shows need to take notes lol Sidenote: think that red light is EDMR treatment they use in therapy.
I honestly didn't see it coming until part way through the last episode. When he wouldn't even save his Mom from torture, I knew it was over for Vic and Sofia. It was easy to root for him when it was him against the other scumbags, but Vic was too much. ETA: You are hilarious, I enjoy your commentary.
Its sad that we're not even surprised he'd let his mom lose a finger behind his lies. I now better understand why she never gives him her words of approval. He deserves to work forever and a day trying to give her everything she wants. Can't replace her babies with material possessions but she can punish Oz by basically working him to death.
I didn't agree with or like Penguin's Mom... raising him after she knew what he did. I can understand her not wanting him to be killed...but Arkham is clearly a thing in universe. Grief is understandable, but ain't no way my hypothetical evil son is still chilling in my house being clingy with me. I think the show undermined Sofia's intelligence by having her walk into a set-up. Lastly, the script should have had...Sofia ask or his Mother ask how he truly feels about Vic. They could have recorded it...and once she was arrested or killed...a courier could have approached Vic with the footage from the nightclub. That would have made the showdown more intriguing. Penguin could have made his move and Vic could have had his gun... In my headcanon Vic shoots him...cries a bit...talks about the feeling of betrayal. And leaves to go find the girl he liked. Penguin could survive or not. Alternate take: Penguin has Vic slightly beaten and taken away by goons and he is incapacitated...and wakes up at the Bus station with a bag of money...and he gets a phone call from the Penguin with a final order to get on the bus or else...and we can believe he maybe goes to find the girl and become a better person. Or he stays to become Penguin's rival.

I forgot about The Good Son. That would have been a good one to watch during spooky season. Oz and Sophia are definitely mirrors of each other. I cut Sophia a bit more slack (a lot more actually) than Oz because of what was done to her to make her the way she is. Oz is just a trash person down to his bone marrow. Nothing redeeming about him.

They really had us going back and forth with the sympathy for Oz. Like Tony Soprano, he's awful, but you understood his motives for the most part. Then you get to the episode with his brothers and have the confirmation that something is fundamentally wrong with him, but wonder if there's some light in there anyway. When he kills Vic you know there's no light in him at all.

This show was SOOOOO Freakin' good and they wrapped it with no loose ends. A lot of these other shows need to take notes lol Sidenote: think that red light is EDMR treatment they use in therapy.
I honestly didn't see it coming until part way through the last episode. When he wouldn't even save his Mom from torture, I knew it was over for Vic and Sofia. It was easy to root for him when it was him against the other scumbags, but Vic was too much.

Its sad that we're not even surprised he'd let his mom lose a finger behind his lies. I now better understand why she never gives him her words of approval. I didn't agree with or like Penguin's Mom... raising him after she knew what he did. I can understand her not wanting him to be killed...but Arkham is clearly a thing in universe. Grief is understandable, but ain't no way my hypothetical evil son is still chilling in my house being clingy with me. I think the show undermined Sofia's intelligence by having her walk into a set-up. Lastly, the script should have had...Sofia ask or his Mother ask how he truly feels about Vic. They could have recorded it...and once she was arrested or killed...a courier could have approached Vic with the footage from the nightclub. That would have made the showdown more intriguing.
Penguin could have made his move and Vic could have had his gun...
In my headcanon Vic shoots him...cries a bit...talks about the feeling of betrayal. And leaves to go find the girl he liked. Penguin could survive or not.
Alternate take: Penguin has Vic slightly beaten and taken away by goons and he is incapacitated...and wakes up at the Bus station with a bag of money...and he gets a phone call from the Penguin with a final order to get on the bus or else...and we can believe he maybe goes to find the girl and become a better person. Or he stays to become Penguin's rival.

The way she was 1000% out of line at the beginning of the episode. The mother shoulda slap the shit outta her the first chance she got, cause how dare you drudge up their worst memories knowing damn well you don't actually care about any of it.
Oz did kill her brother, but all the rage she feels is actually toward her dad and is landing on Oz cause theirs no one else to blame.
With all her money, once she left that little girl in that children's home after all her rants about what she endured at Arkham, my empathy came to an end.

I forgot about The Good Son. That would have been a good one to watch during spooky season. Oz and Sophia are definitely mirrors of each other. I cut Sophia a bit more slack (a lot more actually) than Oz because of what was done to her to make her the way she is. Oz is just a trash person down to his bone marrow. Nothing redeeming about him.
