I don’t remember how I came across your videos and channel but every time I watch another video I am so glad you are out there!! Thanks so much for your expertise and time and effort, really is a blessing!
I have mastered only 3 pieces Moonlight Sonata 1st movement, FurElise and prelude C#Minor (Rachmaninoff) and I always warm up just by performing all those 3 pieces and have done for months. Other than that I cannot do much but I have recently learned the scale of F Minor(playing 3 octaves) , C major reverse both thumbs start on C and the chromatic scale. Will look at some arpegios and more scales, I am sure it will do me a lot of good when I finally start learning them. Thanks for your advice.
My fingers are feeling strange I have being learning piano a couple of months now, I am training my fingers to do double notes as well as learning beginner pieces repeatedly till I get it right , I have the correct wrist position and posture
Thank you for your videos. I want to ask if you could recommend piano recital pieces for students who are currently in Book 4 of Piano Adventures? I want to participate in our upcoming recital next December. I do not want to play something that is often played during recitals. I like classical music, movie themes and ballads.
I'd love to help you on this, but there is so much available to you. I suggest you listen to different recordings on youtube to see if there's anything you like. One thing you might try it the Intermezzo No. 1 by Manual Ponce. That's a nice piece I recently played for our piano club here. If I find anything that might work, I'll let you know.
Could you please do a video about how to improve sight reading? There are Web sites that claim to teach you to master the skills but they're very expensive. Thank you so much! Your videos are wonderful!
I'll add it to my list of video requests. Right now I'm concentrating on method books only, but eventually I'll get to it. In the mean time, these thoughts might get you going. Reading music is similar to reading a book. It is a skill and like all skills, a person gets better with practice. But the practice needs to be done properly or the result will be poor. As far as how much time, it is up to you, but a few minutes each day is fine. You don't need to spend a large amount of time on it, but regularity is important so try to do it about every day at least for a few minutes. 1. Only sight read music well below your current level of ability. 2. Keep it slow at first. As you get better, you can try faster pieces. 3. Play only one hand at a time in addition to both hands together. 4. Keep it fun.
They can be used, but are not necesaary. The scales and arpeggios are necessary. These other exercises are fun sometimes so try them out. I like the Czerny stuff since they seem to have some sort of melody to them.
Just an observation. You have two videos entitled Viewer Question and Answer No. 3 on Learning the Piano. At first I assumed that the same video was posted twice. But, then, I noted that they were different lengths. I note that this video has substantially fewer views than the other No. 3. Maybe people aren't watching it because they think it is the same video.
How do i find your name to look you up if it has been a while playing with you? Also, do you have videos for hymnal music? I really want to play hymns. Do you play them with chords? Thank you!
I'm not sure I understand you question. Just search on the channel name, LetsPlayPianoMethods. My personal name is not important. If the method books or their supplemental books are hymns, then yes, I cover those.
@@lindafrazier3716 The only book even similar that I have covered so far is the Alfred's Top 50 Praise & Worship, and that was only because it was requested multiple times.
Hello Sir, My teacher says I have to play my left hand less loud than the melody/right hand, but I find it very difficult to make my hands do different things, let alone apply different strengths simultaneously. Do you know a way to practice this?
You can try a couple of things. If you are doing any scales, and I hope you are, practice playing the scale with one hand louder than the other. Be sure to switch so both hands get to be the loud part. You can also use your pieces you are learning and forget the dynamics and tempo, but just play the piece with the right hand loud and the left hand soft, then try the left hand loud and the right hand soft. Go really slowly until you get the hang of it. It will come, it just takes time to get it.
Why not use the piano hashtag (i.e. #piano) in your twitter posts? Apparently RUclips also recognizes hashtags by the way. Thanks for your monumental achievement with this channel.
Gale, RUclips let you sort and group the playlist. For example, all playlist in proper order for Alfred. Then another one for Bastien, etc. They will be in both Home and Playlist section of your channel. I made a small video showing you how to do that. ruclips.net/video/Rk4YiJfUmoo/видео.html
Thank you very much. I watched the video and started arranging my playlists in groups. It was really nice to have that kind of control. There were a couple of things that caused problems. One was that there seems to be only 10 groups allowed. After that, I didn't see the option to create anymore. I can combine some books into the same group, but don't want to unless it is really necessary. Also, I couldn't find a way to edit the title of the group. I needed to change one, but had to delete the group and create a new one and repopulate it all over. Is there a way around these limitations?
You're welcome! :) Unfortunately, there is indeed a limit of 10 sections. I did not know that before, but I could get the confirmation from Google help (support.google.com/youtube/answer/3027787?hl=en). I would suggest you do maybe section like Level 1, Level 2, Christmas books, ... The good news is that you can put the same playlist in many categories. Useful for example if you have a Christmas book level 1. Sort them the way you think it's the best. At least, they will now be regrouped. :) Also, don't forget to sort them manually inside the section. If you do Level 1, it would be nice to have all Alfred level 1 books together... Now that you know how to do it. Regarding renaming the section, it is very easy. I made a very short video (ruclips.net/video/xZDByMEtAw8/видео.html) so you can see how it's done. If you need help or have more questions, I will be happy to help you! :)

I have found that if I'm looking for a piece I just have to search for it in RUclips and your face appears immediately.
ha ha ha ha ha ha, 'Until then stay confused'. wonderful, wonderful. Enjoyed every word you uttered. :-)

Yup, it takes a bunch of time but it can also be a bunch of fun. I hope you are enjoying it all, otherwise, why do it, right? :)
Rod Lewis Your videos are excellent. Have you done videos on Bastien Piano Basics level 3. Can't find it on you tube.
