    I just wanted to thank you once again for putting these videos up in the first place. You have a very large selection of helpful videos and it obviously must have taken you a long time. Thank you.

    This was five years ago so maybe you won’t see this, but I learn SO much watching your reviews. The slight off-handed comments are invaluable. So many little gem tips and tricks I watch them even if I don’t need the assistance with the piece. Most excellent.

    I’m in my 60’s and started to learn the piano as a result of the pandemic. Started the Alfred’s All-in-One, Book 1, about 2 months ago and found your site recently. It’s been so helpful and has cleared up areas that I was uncertain about. Thanks very much for the videos and all the work you put into them!!!

    I am starting piano at 76 with NO music experience, so I can't thank you enough for your clear logical explanations------, and your sense of humor. I have a book request. Alfreds has 😍a book 3 in their method series. I would be happy to buy the book for you. You are so generous.

    Question: How do I know when I'm ready to turn the page and move on? Say I understand the theory, but I can only play the piece correctly at the right tempo one out if every 3 or 4 times. Should I continue to agonize until I get it right every time or keep going?
    Thank you so much for your videos! I'm in my 50's and using Alfred Adult Level 1.

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  6 лет назад +2

      Great question! It's not profitable to agonize over any piece of music (unless you're a music major in college). I suggest you go on, however, I also suggest you go through the book more than once. You will pick up stuff you missed and remember stuff you forgot about and you'll find the music pieces a lot easier to learn the second time around.

    Never mind. I found my answer. In question and answers, you indicated you are doing the adult books first. I am currently following your Alfred Adult All in One video lesson, which I am making progress. I am wondering do you have videos on the Piano Lessons by James Bastien? The old ones. Copyright in 1976. I have the complete set (when my daughter was taking lessons). Would love to have videos on these old pieces. I see you have the Bastein for the Adult series. Thank you.

Even a "stage name" just for RUclips would be nice to have something to call you as. Thank you June Spearing of Boston, MA

    I'm sorry I didn't know you'd done these Q & A's. I subscribed to your channel some time ago but just now am stumbling on them. I am using the Alfred's Adult series but a friend who lives in another state who has a degree in music told me that there is a piano teaching technique called "the landmark method" which he thinks is superior to all other methods. Have you heard of it? If you have, what's your opinion of it?

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  4 года назад

      No, I have not heard of it, but I will check into it. I would love to see a method that is superior to all others. That would be interesting.

    Question: Have you heard of, seen or read the recent book by someone called Lucinda Jane Mackworth-Young entitled "Piano by ear" and if so, what is your opinion of it? It has received many favourable comments and reviews online. Also I recently bought a Yamaha P115 digital piano and have promised myself that I will begibn to learn to play it "properly". I have the feeling that I may be seeing a lot of your face over the next how long... your videos look fantastic. Thank you very much

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  8 лет назад +1

      I have not heard of that book, but I'll sure look into it. Glad to hear you learn more about playing the piano. Sorry about the face part. Good luck.

      @youandwhosearmy6339 8 лет назад +1

      Cheers. I am up and running with the piano learning now and I have decided to go with "Adult Piano Adventures" books. I have thumbed through them both and they look really, really good. I ahve played guitar for a long time and so I am not new to music, as such... so yeah, wish me luck on my new adventure. lol PS no need to apologise regarding the face haha I like your style and the way you explain things. Regards from the UK, Sir!

    Any suggestions on which books I should continue with after completion of Bastien Book 1 &2.

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  3 года назад +1

      It depends on what type of music you enjoy playing. For classical, you can try the John Thompson books 2 and above (the red books). The Alfred series has a number of repertoire books available, you can try some of them at level 2 or above. There are many possibilities.

    Hi(apologies. Don’t know your name). I am curious to hear your views of the interval technique. I know the names of the notes but at some point I find myself playing and not thinking of the names of the notes.

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  2 года назад +1

      Knowing the names of the notes is handy when reading or talking about the notes, or when studying music theory. You don't need to think about the note names when actually playing them.

    I'd like to add another book along with Alfred book 2 what would be my choices?

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  7 лет назад +2

      It depends on what type of music you enjoy playing and how well you are understanding the musical notation and theory presented so far. Alfred has several supplemental repertoire books available. Also, the level 2 of other method books would work, like Bastien, Fabor, John Thompson, Suzuki, etc. If you live near a music store that sells these books, you can go in and look at the music and see what you might enjoy. Sometimes you can ask a person working there and they might have some suggestions for you.

    I have a question. I like how your metronome and would to purchase a similar one. Where did you get yours?

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  8 лет назад

      I bought mine locally at a music store but I don't remember which store it was. I'm guessing you can find it on Amazon and get it there.

    • @Margo714P
      @Margo714P 8 лет назад

      I looked, but nothing on Amazon, at least with that cool light. I'll go check out our local music store. Thanks.

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  8 лет назад

      I googled the metronome specs and got several listings from stores and eBay. I suggest you compare the prices since they vary widely. You should be able to contact the stores to confirm that they actually have it and maybe even order it over the phone.

  • @jnoonan33

    Thank you for your lessons. I'm working through them after learning the piano as a child. One suggestion is to put a little bit of time between ending a piece and ending the RUclips video. It will make it easier to play a piece over and over without RUclips playing an ad or moving to the next piece.

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  8 лет назад

      Thanks for the suggestion. I think it's a great idea and I'll be doing that starting with my next videos. If RUclips is going to the next video automatically, you can try turning off the auto-play function.

    Would you mind posting the title of the books that you'll be working with soon?

      I have listed the books on the Discussion page of my channel. You can find them there.

    • @golllc
      @golllc 8 лет назад

      Thanks! And great idea about posting answers to replies in the Discussion section of your channel. You have thousands of videos, so even if someone asks a good question inside one of those videos, everyone following your channel can still read your answer.
      By the way, around two weeks ago, I purchased Bastien Piano for Adults, and Alfred's Self-Teaching Adult Piano Course. The biggest reason I got those books is because of your videos. It's good to know that if I get stumped on one of the exercises, I can always refer to your videos.

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  4 года назад

      It is up to you. What kind of music do you like to play? The Faber book 1 or the John Thompson book 1 or most any other method book 1 will do. Alfred series has other books you might look at, like the self-teaching book or the all-in-one book.
