LYRICS:
Love note to the whole fuck show, postmarked from a lighthouse in the blunt smoke, Dear motherfuckers, I’m teetering if you must know, wolf at the door like a bug to the fructose, Niece on the phone saying “Ian you should visit more”, We could build forts while the pigs court civil war, Miss you, miss you more, see you on the far side, scuffed shoes, couple new scars in the archive, I’m not here to pull scarves out, Here to pick tumblers under water with his arms bound, from in chains to the heart of “where art thou”, I’m out there down to throw a grapnel at a guard tower, Down to spray piss on a cop car, It’s rage in the form of renaissance art, Can’t treat it like a job at the stockyard and feign shock when they turn the block to a pock mark, Stock parts knocking on Mach 1 to Camp Lo, amped up, eyes glowing unknown pantones, drive ’til it feels like a Van Gogh, lest I cheetah me some antelope, partly cloudy, palpable panic in the troposphere, wake a giant, poke a bear, we don’t do smoke and mirrors, we do do a med-kit and spare clothes, leave a motherfucker nowhere close, new super power that I picked up In the frenzy, I could draw a roof on fire from memory, each and every sketch another bloodletting, in the of wake escalation, and excessive rubbernecking, the champ can’t look away, drink it in, strobe-light, smoke, no life, no lifeguard, sink or swim, ring around the king of pain, bring acetaminophen, You either see the vision or dinner with demolition men, Boom, flame to the fuse to the barrel, I step into the room, split an arrow with an arrow, the first trick shot is just to show em that I dabble… I will not be aiming for the apple, Lately I treat every interaction as a living wake, thanking people close to me before the photo pixelate, new day, folk down play the game different, changed, and going from being chased to playing chicken, Get your whole road map pac-man’d, black mask, snack on whatever’s in the dash cam, It’s not an ad, hashtag, or a tap dance, patsy, the revolution will not have jazz hands, I know you’re alien to matters of the heart and mind, that shit that make you park the car and scream into the dark of night, Some days I wanna build a rocket to the Karman line, 10, 9, 8, keep your head and arms inside, yea

"Lately I treat every interaction as a living wake, thanking people close to me before the photo pixelates." Damn, that cuts deep Aes.
i think that line just changed my life.
That one hits close to home
That's the lyric that stuck with me too.
What does this mean?
@@traceyhopkins3698 my interpretation is that time is fleeting, appreciate what/who's here now before its too late
I honestly don’t understand how he keeps doing this. Every song is so dense, so layered. I feel like it should take years to craft one of these verses and he makes it seem effortless. I’m so mind blow by dudes talent all the time
Hence him being the lyrical GOAT
It should be inspiring but the dudes so good... it makes me wanna give up on everything creative cause I know I'll never be as good at anything, as he is at song writing ... the goat for real.
Society of Spoken Arts 💥
It’s a lost art
If our culture was more Golden Age instead of Gilded Age, Aes would be Household Known
This is gonna be the first Aes song someone listens to. Imagine that.
Lololololl
Yes i'm here, i did it!
Long legged Larry
I love that
@@lucjuszmocarny8906 I'm making students explicate/summarize No Regrets FWIW... probably his most straightforward song. Though they've already head LLL and Hey Kirby in class while working.
The audience for this music hasn't been born yet.
3 albums in 3 years. best time in fucking history to be a fan of Aes.
Indubitably.
i try to tell ppl, in my opinion he’s better than ever. lol i’m all sending his newer shit to the kids i went to school with n shit.
@@jeremylawson6648 My nostalgia always told me Labour Days was his apex. I listened to the whole album yesterday and I honestly think his new stuff is another level. It's just as dense and creative, but it has more personnel storytelling. It now feels like his vocabulary and rhetorical skill are now a means to an end, whereas previously it felt cold and detached and maybe formulaic. I think this is where the past slander of "dictionary rapper" was leveraged against him.
@@aesopsock7447 right but now his vocab hasn’t suffered but he’s way more concise.
Whats the 3rd album? Its garbology, spirit world field guide and? Malibu ken?? Whats the 3rd one?
"the first trick shot is just to show them that i dabble"
why does Aes have the absolute best one liners
"I will not be aiming for the apple"
...bruh...it's all headshots.
@@literallykevin 🤔🤯
its a 3 liner about archery and the skill it takes (as a metaphorical stand in for his own lyrical and musical skill.) but not trying to impress anyone but himself. "Flame to the fuse to the barrel, I step into the room split an arrow with an arrow. The first trick shot is just to show em that I dabble. I will not be aiming for the apple."
@@TexasGreed I think it's important to note Aes has some really nice technical rapping but he's never going over the top with fast or ridiculously difficult lyrics, the lines fit very well
Not aiming for the apple is a reference to not following society standards to impress the population. My interpretation
AES: "Yeah I'm good, but I don't do this to impress you, I do it to express you."
Hell yes. First a clear MRI for my brain cancer now this. Aesop & Blockhead collaboration. 37
My man so happy for you
Good to hear that man
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
universe really said "not yet, Aes about to drop a banger"
congratz
As much as I love Aes rapping over his own beats, I am so psyched to hear what him and Blockhead have put together. If this is any indication, it's going to be a dope album.
Is it an album?!!? I hope so.

A man of taste!
If I can decipher just ONE line from a aesop rock song I feel intellectual af 😂😂
You gotta keep listening. It's not intellectual or pretentious or posing or anything. But it is brilliant. It's worth repeated listening.
Been breaking this assholes shit down for decades. I'm old lol.
you start to get to know him as weird as that sounds.. more like you get to know his writing style and what he means by certain things
@@awpmerst you'll also catch a lot of lines that are callbacks or references from other tracks and albums.
The thing about Aes is yeah his verses are dense af with a lot going on in them (especially stuff on like Float and Labor Days) BUT you can atleast get the gist of what hes talking about in most songs I mean I don't get like tons of the references and all that but can atleast tell basically what each song is about. He also has basically the same themes in his music throughout his entire career.. isolation, anxiety and depression, not really being into socializing and stuff like that. This is also why he has amazing replay value like sometimes I'll all sudden catch or get things in songs I've been listening to for like 20 years now lol
I don’t know if it’s because of the lyrics, melodies or the drums (entering later), but this might be the best Aesop Rock track in a decade.
Boom. Flame to the fuse to the barrel/
I step into the room, split an arrow with an arrow/

Top 10 ever
1*
"I will not be aiming for the apple" You won't know what his target is until it's hit.
Here for this until this here flatline closes the curtain
I don't think the other 9 exist.
Still the best hip hop artist of all time. He reconstructed the medium into a mode of art, prose and philosophy with a deftness and depth that neither his predecessors nor contemporaries had ever even fathomed let alone attempted. We thank the rap gods for you, Aesop!
To add to this comment, because I completely agree, he also has this quality to him that allows you to take different things away from a track after each listen. That depth has it’s own texture, and it’s not even something you can fully appreciate on any of his songs in the first 5-10 listens.
You got a favorite song by him, bro? I have to go with Rings.
@@eugenecaudill5361 My Favourite Aes song?? It changes hourly forever 😎😎..
I have to go with Jumping Coffin. I’ve only listened to the singles off of Garbology. So, I can’t say I won’t like something better off the album, but you’re not wrong. This man is constantly pushing nothing but quality music.
@@jasongrace4005 Same. Recently it's "Holy Waterfall", "Difficult" and "Dryspell." I have a soft spot for "Lazy Eye." Love the Chuck D cameo.
Truth! I wud like to add he is a spirit revolutionary wordmaster mind unraveller
"I can draw a roof on fire from memory". And holy shit so is this from an ENTIRE new LP of Aes and Blockhead? How did I not hear of this lol It seems like Aes is doing like an album a year now. dope. edit:I've listened to this like over 10 times since yesterday lol. Shits amazing.
Yep, 14 tracks
That line makes me think of the girl in that meme standing in front of a burning house, looking at the camera
And I think she did an update pic of her a year back or so grown up
nice name
Just scroll and hear the part and saw this🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The album was announced today. You're not late :p
THIS IS A CERTIFIED HOOD CLASSIC
Creative song, teases the beat drop but never goes there until right after the rapping ends. I mean there's a million other things to say about this, but that alone makes this musically compelling and an exciting new entry in the endless world of prolific Aesop Rock music.
I love how Aesop just casually drops in once or twice a year to remind us that he is in fact the greatest ever.
Blockhead is top-shelf as per usual.
*EDIT: OH MY GOD WHEN THE BEAT DROPS*
*EDIT 2: LADS THEY ARE DROPPING A WHOLE ALBUM*
Yes welcome to last week traveler lol I can't wait
GREATEST EVER!!!! 💯
it’s finally completely released 🎉
greatest living rapper. rip doom.
Did he jus rap "acetaminophen"?
No matter what period in Aec's discography is your favorite, ya cant deny he still on his game
"Ants in the open" About the ants recieving their "daily bread" shall we say

Acetaminophen is Tylenol, an OTC pain reliever. I think that's what he was referring to.

"Partly cloudy palpable panic in the troposphere, wake a giant, poke a bear, we don't do smoke and mirrors" ... Whoa.
I just bought 4 Aesop vinyl and today I preordered this one and Malibu Ken. That makes a total of 11 Aes projects I have on vinyl

How in Sam's hell is it about "anxiety" and a "real song for on human history"

This is probably the top 5 greatest verses of the year. And it's practically 2022 already, I don't see anyone following this.. His consistency is scary.
Man anything Aesop Rock hit with his lyrical prowess easily dominatez.
Woah. Maybe it's the collective experience of the last couple years here on earth, but this feels like Aes is speaking more of my truths than ever before and I didn't think that was possible.
its true
You look good heather 😁
Aesop got that consistent sound no matter if hes featuring or if someone else is , point blank. Concept albums with depth .
I had honor of seeing Aesop Rock and DJ Abilities perform together in Denton, Tx years ago. It was fucking amazing.
Chicago. Aes, S.A. Smash, OX, and others on like a $20 ticket. Dems da days.
Hell ya, I saw Aes, Rob Sonic and DJ Abilities in Chicago
The fact that this man has gotten better and better over the years is unreal to me. Most other artists that I listen to had a time.. Aesop just keeps setting the bar higher as time goes on
Bizarre to me too. The Mountain Goats and AJJ are my 2 other favourite artists. tMG have went downhill for the last 4 albums and AJJ the last 2.
Aesop is the most consistent artist of all time. Literally puts out some of the best music ever 20 years in!
Another freaking album out of nowhere, Aes’ output is second to none, bruh done three projects before ur favourite rapper done one
Aes is one of the few artist I hope never chooses to stop releasing projects

I’m getting spoiled with so much Aesop Rock this year. Always got something to look forward to.
Had to pull the car over and stop to listen to this LOUD and reclined when my favorite radio station wxpn put this beautiful song on the other night. So hype.
You have radio stations playing AES?????? Lucky sob
I've been listening to this non-stop since like an hour after it dropped. It gives me MFDOOM vibes the way he rhymes in this one

Almost brought me to tears, emotional days these past few years
I can always count on aesop, but I’m glad to see blockhead again. None shall pass, Float and more have such a unique sound. Blockhead and aes are a perfect match

No one's more verbose than Aesop Rock in all of the Hip Hop/Rap Universe. That's a fact!
All white dudes are tho think about it.
He's not verbose though. Every word, every piece, is intentional. He's a genius. Fact.
