I am now clicking your BELL icon, good sir! Btw that gives your followers a prominent notification (they can choose how), and as a Foundry GM I really want to see your stuff as Foundry develops. (May want to tell others too!)
Thanks for the advice! And for the support! I figured in 2021 most viewers are smart enough to ring the bell if they want... but you know, there's a reason people always say to do it in their videos, and that's because it works!
Holy bloody potatoes. This. Is. Absolutely amazing and I had no idea about this. This is gold, and silver, and platinum, and so much more. 1. Buying PDFs from the Bestiary that I'm missing. 2. Pledging to buy from Paizo directly in the future so I can use this feature forevermore. Thank you so much. You've saved me SO much work.
Real talk on how dope this is: I am running my first Pathfinder2e game for my entire family and they are loving it. But log in time on foundry for them right now is about 12 hours and mine is 29 hours. That difference is just me working on setting NPCs and Monsters etc. This change is HUGE. That is 17 hours of my life I would have back for just 3 sessions. Let alone by the time I get the whole adventure done.
Also, top secret info: Menace under Otari (The beginners box) and Malevolence are both supported, along with Kindled Magic, with the token extraction and placement
two days ago I finished placing all tokens on the AoA Hellknight Hill Maps + Mapping all Bestiary 1 Tokens... Haha, that timing. 😂 Still, awesome update :) !
The module is now discontinued because of the active development of Paizo modules (like the Bestiary, which is AWESOME).. Do you know how well it works with those official modules? Like if I import old Paizo PDF that is not released as FVTT module, does it use the bestiary art and stuff if I own it?
Question, I have an active running game of the Extinction curse adventure path and have manually done a bunch of maps, mobs, etc. If say I wanted to add the next chapter and upload it with pdf to foundry would it overwrite existing content? Or would it just upload new content ie adding upon what I've already manually done. Important to know before I use this module of course.
Steve! Amazing but I have a question. In a previous update you recommended not importing an entire compendium like the Bestiary. Is this art matching function different? I mean does it contradict that advice, or is just the art and we're pulling the compendium creatures from a non-local source?
Yes! When the art is imported, its just created on the file system, not in memory. So no objects are created. When you drag the actor from the compendium into the world, at that point it finds the matching artwork and sets the image. This way, it avoids the issue of importing all the actors and assigning the art ahead of time; the module triggers it on demand to avoid this very issue!
@@RecallKnowledge Bless you! I'm telling my group about your videos, as some of them have their own games and have bought Foundry licenses. There are many good videos but I have learned a lot from yours. Thank you!
Hi Steve. Sorry to say that, but nothing works on my side:( I do use pdf tp foundry and i do get the message "Your import of Abomination Vaults - Ruins of Gauntlight is complete".But after that, NOTHING happens like it did on your video. I dont get the scenes automatically. I tried to import other adventures, but it is always the same. I just get the massage "... is complete", but after that, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
Well, there is a new premium version of "Abomination Vaults" that I know is an even BETTER experience. But PDF To Foundry should still be working. If you hit F12, do you see Errors in the console output? It might be preventing something from happening. You might want to make sure you have PF2E, and the PDF to Foundry module updated. Also, make sure you're using the "Single File" english version of the PDF, not pirated, in order for it to work fully.
I prefer to use Token Variant Art, I do my own token when I need them then it find the art when I pull the token from the conpendium, and I can use variant art.
Wow. I usually prefer top down tokens and only use circle ones when there is no good top down, but this is still massive even for me. What happens if you import it, but already have tokens assigned to art. Will they get overwritten?
The original actor you should should keep the art assigned to them. It should import another actor entity with its own ID, but it out of the possibility that it may overwrite, so create yourself a duplicate or make a full backup of you Data beforehand. -Hal
No, this is a Pathfinder 2e specific module. The author builds it specifically for pf2e modules. It unfortunately wouldn't work for any PDF other than the ones specifically mentioned in the pop up window. I know there are a couple of modules that can import stuff from dndbeyond, but nothing that works with dmsguild stuff that I've seen
Actors are only for a few of the newest adventures (will eventually be added to all). Notes is strange though, I've only not had notes if I imported the interactive maps without the base PDF
Ah! but this doesn't import all the monsters. It creates the images in a folder within your foundry; then when you drag/drop the actors to the scene from the compendium, it maps the image right then and there! As for the actors in the Adventure Book; having just the handful needed imported is fine. Its when you import the hundreds (and thousands!) of extras that you start to have issues : )
Yeah only works on PDF's you bought from Paizo and only VERY select few at that I would NOT recommend this as it kind of blows. I even had ones that were official and it would not import them at all because they were not on the magic list of accepted PDF's
PDF To Foundry is made by one volunteer, who has to manually build each scene for each adventure. The reason you can't just pull in ANY PDF is because somebody would have to manually build out the walls and lights for it first. Anything not covered by PDF to Foundry has a Premium Module instead, which is the better experience anyway. Also as a way to avoid Paizo shutting down the whole module for what is essentially a legally gray area. And yes, it only works with official watermarked Paizo PDFs as a way to combat Piracy. I don't fault them for that, but you may want to adjust your expectations from a free module

Holy cow!!! Great video
So we CAN import tokens?! Does this work with every AP (I'm running AV)?
@@genericfutureman9454 I'm pretty sure the new version supports Abomination Vaults! But I haven't tested since I built mine BEFORE it existed

Hah! At least AoA isn't auto mapped (yet), but the tokens for sure. The update has been out for a few weeks! Its just... secret ; )

It creates everything in its own unique subfolder; even if you import the same pdf multiple times it won't overwrite anything, just make more copies!
