Tesla (TSLA) shares are trading higher after CEO Elon Musk announced the company will offer US customers a free trial of its driver-assist technology. The announcement comes at a time when consumers are less willing to spend on EVs after a first wave of adoption. Autopilot software was the subject of a recall of 2 million Tesla vehicles in December 2023. It’s interesting, mainstream media is completely missing the fact that Full Self Driving is now ready for wide release. Elon said a while back that when FSD is smooth and safe he would offer one month free to all drivers. NOW is that time.
If you recall, Josh, the recall was for Basic Autopilot, which is included in every Tesla sedan. They are now offering Full Self Driving, which costs $12,000, for FREE, for a month. Why? Because it is now ready for wide release. Please please send your on air reporter on a test drive of FSD 12.3.3.
If you are talking about end-of-quarter price cuts due to slow EV demand, I understand, If you are talking about end-of-quarter incentives like free supercharging, I'm with you all the way. However, telling the public, who read and listen to you daily, that Tesla is pushing FSD because of demand, especially if you have never tested FSD prior to V12 and then tested V12, I would say that's not the type of conclusion you want to endorse.
Don't give them that much credit. Their #1 advertiser is GM currently and they strangely didn't cover the cruise fiasco in Sanfran... Anti Tesla headlines gets clicks. Which is why I just added Yahoo to my filter. Bye bye fake journalist.
Recalls, bad - except they were software updates that didn’t affect drivers or cost the company money. That high profile trial that is about to start? Huh? Which one? Have any trials or lawsuits found Tesla software caused an accident?

That's an interesting way to phrase record Q1... The industry average is 12 weeks of supply in the auto industry. Tesla is at 2, so please point me to "where" the demand woes are, because it looks like its in legacy Auto. AKA your advertisers.
