I never cut any stiches, the boot is leather so I dipped the tip of the boot in Hot Water for a few minutes and had no problem sliding my Barton Pistol Grip in through the boot. Also used the packing wrap Barton shipped it in to protect my old shift knob. I have a 2021 Challenger SRT if interested. I love my new Barton much better than the old Mini Van knob that was there!
It's possible it will. But probably only the shifter. It should not void the power train or anything else. Know that if something goes wrong, the dealership has to prove the shifter caused the problem.
@@streetslickz I've had the shifter on for 3 years without any issues. I did the install myself and I'm close to being handyman. You just need to remember to tell the next person that drives your car to push down on the shifter to release it from gea. Otherwise they won't know what to do and might start yanking on it.

I'm having a problem with the shifter not easily down shifting (pushing forwards in a challenger) when in manual mode. I can up shift without any pressure on the handle, but to down shift I have to press down on the handle. Any suggestions?
@@bigl1904 I contacted Barton and they worked with me on getting a new "bracket". There was an issue with where the hole was drilled. Tell them that Dave Sr. worked with me 2 years ago and figured out a fix.
I work at Dodge and they just tried to put it on, and said that it didn't work. I'm going to show them the video tomorrow and then I'll post again. I don't see why it won't work.

Removing a couple of stitches will eventually loosen in time. I would glue or use a lighter to melt (stitches) together so it won’t come loose.

Pushing the shifter down unlocks it just like the trigger.
