    Who should be the 49ers' starting QB next season... Brock Purdy or Trey Lance?

    • @robreeto
      @robreeto Год назад +30

      Purdy!

    • @GopherBaroque61
      @GopherBaroque61 Год назад +8

      It depends on how Brock Purdy does on Sunday, and maybe next Sunday and the Sunday two weeks after that. In other words, if Brock Purdy wins the Super Bowl, then, obviously, he'll be the starter if healthy at the start of the season. And for anyone who keeps asking if Trey Lance will be traded... That's an absurd question if you how the money works. If the 49ers trade Trey Lance, they will automatically lose TEN MILLION DOLLARS of Cap Space next year and you know they won't do that because they need to pay Nick Bosa.

    • @themic9494
      @themic9494 Год назад +12

      Don't get me wrong, Trey will be a good QB but the answer has to be Brock Purdy. It's not just about Brock, but also the relationship with the staff and playcaller. Kyle paints a picture that he is comfortable calling plays and knows Purdy understands the play, and why/when plays are called. That being said, unless you get a deal that blows us away, keep Trey as insurance and keep coaching, the 49ers obviously can coach.

    • @larryjennings1946
      @larryjennings1946 Год назад +3

      I'm trusting Shanahan's coaching team to make this decision. I think no matter what this question will be answered by competition, not arbitrary measures like how Purdy handles the end of this postseason or how much money Trey Lance is making and/or where each of them was respectively picked in the draft.

      Purdy, for sure. He’s already done enough to make a very strong case. Lance is a massive unknown, and risking him potentially dropping multiple games with poor or shaky performances is a large set back.

    Purdy has looked like a seasoned vet from the moment he stepped on the field. I first noticed it vs Miami when he took the liberty of calling a timeout to avoid a delay of game penalty.
    Usually it's Kyle who would call timeout in that situation. I've never seen Jimmy G take that kind of initiative, but here's this rookie in his first competitive game with enough situational awareness to avoid a delay of game penalty when most rookies would just be trying to make it through their first live action without getting killed.
    Fast forward to today and I'm convinced that Brock Prudy is no fluke. He is the best QB on the 49ers roster, he 100% deserves to be the 49ers starter for as long as he's healthy, and he's already one of the 25 best QBs on planet earth, with the potential to be top 5.

    I want to thank you both for uploading this video of Brock Purdy. Finally... someone is giving this kid his due props. He is "IT!" Yes, I noticed this kid in our pre-season when he played... his command of the offense and his leadership, was blatantly obvious in the pre-season. He stood out then to me and I was calling for him to play after Jimmy's first real start against the Broncos and how atrocious he looked. Yes, I'm a huge fan of Jimmy and respect him for everything he's been through with Kyle/Lynch and the Niners "treatment" of him during the offseason and training camp. That said, Jimmy's limitations are glaring. Then opportunity literally knocked for Brock Purdy and well damn... HOLY S#@&... this kid is seriously good and has the potential to be great - Joe Montana great, for my 49ers!
    This kid has every imaginable trait that makes him a complete winner. Everything from his actual football skills to his intelligence to his calm demeanor... this kid is unbelievable! He is well past being an unproven rookie or that damn b.s. title that does not apply to him - "Mr. Irrelevant." Kyle Shanahan has literally struck gold! This kid is it!!! Kyle needs to move on form Trey, trade him for a couple of picks... I swear, Trey Lance better not be in our building come next year's training camp. Bring back Jimmy as our #2, continue coaching up a completely forgotten but extremely talented QB with some bad college coaching - Jacob Eason as our #3 and ride the rest of the way and for many, many years to come, with Brock Purdy as our clear cut #1. Brock's "young" success is only the beginning... He has every weapon around him to make us consistent Super Bowl Champions for years, years to come! Yes, Kyle has a hard decision - but it is completely clear as to what needs to be done! Hopefully, Kyle does not mess this up!
    Again, thank you two - and specifically a former NFL QB for giving this kid his props in this video. Trust me, I've evaluated enough talent with all of my years coaching football... This kid is legit! He is IT!!!
    GO NINERS... BURY AND PUNISH THE FRAUD COWBOYS THIS SUNDAY... BURY THEM!!!

This kid is no "flash in the pan". His team mates all like him, respect him, and trust him. Win, lose or draw, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." What I do love, though, is watching great players, like Montana and Young back in the days. With Purdy, I have feel that same magic like back in the golden years. He is amazing to watch. The throws and pocket movement is incredible to watch. My unprofessional eyes tells me that this kid is special. And, best of all, he is ONLY 23 years old! Extrapolate what he's doing now into next year and beyond. He's not Mahomes, but can you imagine what he can do EVEN if he gets to half of Mahomes' level? Ooof!! He will only get better in Shanahan's system. We are looking at a whole different Niner football going forward. I truly hope that he becomes the next Montana/Young. To think that this kid is a SEVENTH ROUND pick is mind boggling.

    This was very impressive film breakdown. Obviously Josh McCown is very knowledgeable when it comes to evaluating QB’s and had a nice career, but I didn’t know he was good at this. I’m glad I ran into this channel and you guys have earned another subscriber. I am beyond excited about Purdy & it feels like my Niners finally found their franchise QB. This offense is so potent and it feels like Brock just has that IT factor. Good job, fellas! Go Niners!

    7:45 What separation? That db is riding the wr's back, and Purdy makes a perfect throw into such a tight window. Unreal

    • @joshmccown7644
      @joshmccown7644 Год назад +2

      Sorry if it wasn’t clear but happy to explain further . Watch when his arm is started and when the WR breaks . He starts the throw before the break. There is separation but it’s right at the break then the DB closes quickly. He does end up right on the WR back but the anticipation and location of the throw beats him.
      Separation in the NFL is mostly very small and very quick . This is why this skill is so helpful to Purdy.

    A lot of the things talked about definitely meet the 'eye test'. You see Brock making reads and not being careless with the ball. Then you see him make something out ouf nothing with his scramble abilities. For the first time in a long time, i do not feel nervous watching our offense.

    Real fans along with Kyle already knew when we first seen him pre-season in his first year. He was something special. And if you watched his first interview after that game, he had the ball in his hand. He said Trey went and got his first TD ball and gave it to him. His mannerisms, how he spoke, how he handled the ball in his hands PAUSE, while talking. Had me torn between Trey and Purdy at that time, but as the both started to play more. purdy started to look better. So when Trey got hurt , it really shows everyone, how much ahead of his time he is.. he still has more growing up to do. He is only 24. He is going to get bigger , stronger,faster, smarter. He is going to be 49er for a long time. This is a new era for the 49ers. And it started the year before last.

I live in the Bay Area so I'm fortunate to have been able to witness his meteoric rise, but the mainstream media is pretty far behind actually analyzing his game as Josh has given us. Ive got a lot of respect for this kid. He plays with a poise and confidence that far surpasses his years and rating/draft position, etc. He just looks so damn comfortable in an NFL pocket even under extreme pressure. He could be an even more extreme Tom Brady story. With all that said, Ive got nothing but respect for the kid but I am a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan. And not saying this to brag, just as a well known fact, but playing IN Philly for the NFC championship is going to be one of the most hostile, and visiting team handicapping enviroments that he will EVER play in for his entire career. I dont take the Niners for granted and I know its going to be a battle and this SF squad is legit. Great group of guys who Id have nothing against if they werent our present opponent. But if this kid manages to shine and excel in this games enviroment, he can win anywhere anytime. But what Im hoping to happen is that my Birds get at him early and ring his bell good a few times with a couple of early-game sacks and/or turnovers. That combined with the 12th man wreaking havoc on his play/audible calling ability, Im hoping 🤞he catches a sudden, severe and lifelong case of PTSPD (Post Traumatic South Philly Disorder)🤕🤢😩😫😵🛌🤧🤒and he just completely caves and comes undone under the pressure and we beat them in an uncontested rout.🤛💥👊💥🤜💥💪💀💀 I want him to have nightmares and flashbacks about it all off season. 😴💤😈😾👹👺😳😥😰
    Thats my perfect world scenario. These Niners are so dangerous that I dont even want it close. I see this Niners team's potential as well as his individually as such a young upstart with lots of experience still to be gained making him even better. From an opposing teams fanbase who respects them, the smrt thing to do is hope to nip this opposition in the bud as as much as humanly possible and beat his mind, heart and soul so bad they he never forgets what happened when he played against us. This dude, and squad, is so good we need to take their soul for years to come in this game if we want the best and most maximized potential outcome. After that, I really do wish him and the Niners the best always and can even pull gor a squad lile that. Just not ever against my Eagles or in our house. Not going to wish you Niners fans any good luck because that would just be a lie on my part. 😂 However I can genuinly say 'Respect' to you all here and now. ✊🤝 Because there will be no such thing given come Sunday in the Linc. 😖🥊🆚To the death! ! (of a football season).👎🗡😠😡😤💀 And Go Birds ! ! 🦅🏉💚

    At 23:26 you said Brock feels a 3 man pass rush. He can easily feel that out because iowa state runs a 3-3-5 defensive set to defend air raid offenses in the big12. He practiced against that for 4 years.

      Nice !!! Love the extra info!! That makes sense. Only thing I would say is that it started as a 4 down front.
      3-3-5 starts as 3 down.
      Much easier to see when it starts out that way. Not so much when it’s a 4 down .

    One thing to note, Tom Brady, a late draft pick got his chance to play in virtually the same way and was successful in the same way. Also I noticed in Purdy's games, is he took a lot of hits that would have been penalties if they were done to Rodgers, Brady or Mahomes.

    The only reason Joe Montana is still alive - they did not have a dominant O line - was the eyes and quick release. Three seconds and the ball is down field or you're sitting on the grass.
    Young did not have it but he moved more and still got his bell rung enough to chase him into a sane retirement.
    Think Purdy can be closer to the former than the latter.
