  • David Letterman mocks Vince McMahon on NBC's Late Night with David Letterman. You can tell that Vince wasn't thrilled at this at all.
Dave Meltzer wrote that this "was just a comedy segment and meant as a rib on Vince."

1:17 Vince: "We are experiencing, or in anticipation of certainly, a deluge of pregnant women at this moment."
Vince being on top of his comedy game at the spur of the moment.
The baby might share the name with the "Show Stopper", but Vince stole the show that night.

1980s Vince McMahon always played it straight on television, BUT he knew how to make the straight role hilarious by pretending to be oblivious!
On a mid-1988 episode of Prime Time Wrestling, he hosted with Bobby The Brain Heenan and he did a bit with George Steele's Mine doll that had me laughing for days. Vince was saying that the doll was sticking its tongue out at Bobby (because it was facing Heenan). The Brain told Vince to turn Mine the other way and it would stick its tongue out at Vince, so Vince turned Mine the wrong direction and earnestly responded, "No, I don't believe so."

I remember hearing Lawler or Michael Hayes say that after the Kaufman incident, Letterman refused to ever have a wrestler on his show again.
I'm pretty sure Vince remembers this too. VKM does not look like someone who likes to be made a fool of. Letterman took quite a few cheap shots on this show. It says a lot that Letterman has been doing his show for 20+ years in NYC, which is the home base of the WWE and they have no affiliation other than this little appearance.

Hell, the man used "deluge" not only correctly in a sentence but as a pun at the same time and Dave has the nerve to act like Vince is some kind of idiot.

I also don't think Dave anticipated Vince to have as much wit as he did. Vince was doing all this on the fly. Also, he was not known for his comedy talent. Yet, he outdid Dave in those sketches by a mile.
