Hey thanks for sharing that! A lot of the times I want to show not only how to use them but what you need to know to immediately get the most out of them
i was really struggling to wrap my head around how to set up volume shaper for sidechain compression, but this video made everything click in my head and now i get it. thanks, bro.
Thanks for the support, and glad yo like the format. I believe that keeping things as concrete as possible when it comes to plugins is really important, so that's why you see me doing a whole lot of that. I have a video coming out tomorrow on Kickstart 2, so hopefully you can check that out.

Does this work with actual sidechaining one sound and using it as a trigger / envelope follower? Or does it repeat the same processing every so many bars no matter what?
Great question. When it comes to sidechaining with Volumeshaper it can pretty much handle everything. The sidechain can be triggered with MIDI, an audio signal, or BPM synced. It can also be used as a trigger and envelope follower, just like you mentioned. I think Volumeshaper and Shaperbox will be plugins that I always recommend. They’re powerful, easy to use, affordable-ish, and so light on CPU. Let me know if you have any more questions. It’s weird but I love talking about Volumeshaper.
Man this is hands down one of the best tutorials I've seen on this plug-in. I was really on the fence on buying it. One thing I still haven't figured out is on many of the comments on other videos ppl were complaining about having to midi trigger this plugin and you can't use it on an audio track...unless they've updated this. But in your video I see you have midi trigger off and you seem to be using it on vocals, how did you set this up? I wish the video covered the routing portion.
Hey, I'm glad you think this video is a great tutorial. This is a great plugin so it was fun to make. I think the best way to figure out routing for you and your DAW is to download the demo version. That way you can really know if this is right for you. I personally had no issues with placing this plugin on audio tracks as I would with any other plugin. From what I know the MIDI trigger is how you switch between different LFO settings, but honestly it's optional. The only routing that I deal with is for anything with sidechain, which is pretty much how you would route any other plugin. I hope this all helps!

Hi first great video help to understand this I new at this plug-in and my use is for blending two sound effects by layering could you show us sound designers a how to build up a 3 layer gun shot ?
The automation can happen in three ways. It can be DAW synced to a BPM, Hz ,or pitch. It can be triggered by MIDI. And finally, it can be triggered by audio (sidechain). All three are really handy and easy to use.
Is their a function where you can "Flip" the curve opposite. Like let's say you make an instance to sidechain an 808 but then duplicate that instance, paste the plugin instance to a kick and then Flip the curve for the perfect sidechain. So when flipped on the kick, it would cut the kicks volume off to make room for the 808.
Yes there is! If you right click in the curve website you can flip the curve vertically. The method you're describing is exactly how I use it for a very transparent sidechain.
I don't have Gatekeeper, but I am familiar with it. It seems like the core goal is the same between both plugins. Sure there's probably some unique features that the other won't have, but they should give you identical results using the same process. The big benefit of Volume shaper is that you can add on more Shaper modules giving you tons more sonic possibility.
I know what you mean. My favorite ways to use Shaperbox is with 1 or 2 shapers. When you start piling on shapers, it can start to get heavy-handed and become "too much" of an effect.
@@ThisIsOnesto hahah just joking around dude :6) doesn’t matter :) but I mean swallowing sounds from your mouth not the Music :)) if u understood that wrong … anyway the tutorial is super Dope that’s what matters
