That is an incredible plug in. People complain about the price on cubase but consider that you don”t have to buy Lfo tool, vocalign, melodyne, a stem separator. With that in mind I would say that cubase is a bargain.

Thank you Dom. It's true, after all those decades of using Cubase, I didn't even open those plugins one time. The feature set of most of them are too limited. Tremolo, Vibrato and many others need additional parameters, like fade in values. Some of them sound thin, digital and 2d, like the phaser, to name just one.
But for some I think it's great the effects are in, so they can learn about their sound und usability; and than buy hardware or more sophisticated plugin versions.

In classical music, a tremolo is a rapid repetition of the same note. So there's no change in pitch. A technique used on the piano or balalaika, for example.
Vibrato, on the other hand, affects the pitch of a stringed instrument, because the musician (a violinist, for example) vibrates his left hand on the neck, causing the pitch to vary very slightly. Thanks for the video, I rarely use modulation effects. Maybe I'm being too wise, trying to keep the original sound of the instruments. I'm interested in an FX modulator tutorial on when and why to use it. Thanks again Dom.

    • @DomSigalas

Exactly! In classical music tremolo again, has a very different meaning to the audio engineering world. Tremolo in Rhodes pianos affects volume for example!

They should put a red carpet in front of you at Steinberg. Your stock plug-in videos for Cubase are priceless. And make me stay with Cubase along with Logic after I shifted to Logic completely two years ago. The stock plug-ins in Cubase are amazing. And without your videos I stupidly ignored most of them. Ok Reverence and Frequency I regularly used and they are my favorite , but the rest of the bunch I never even tried! Stupid me!

So ... as I was a cellist for a long time (still am in spirit =] ): a vibrato is when you move your finger on the playing hand to create movement; a tremolo is when you rapidly move the bow back and forth and toward the tip to create movement. So translating that to a guitar, it would make sense to call it a tremolo bar as it was supposed to create the same kind of effect.
Then again, it went into other strange directions =D

    • @Haekki
      @Haekki Год назад +1

When you move your finger on your playing hand (fretting hand) back and forth (or up and down depending on the instrument), you are changing the pitch of the played note, which is called vibrato. Tremolo is the change in amplitude in general, but we also call certain playing styles tremolo if it's about the rapid articulation of a single note or a group of notes.
The tremolo on a guitar should always be called a vibrato, since it only changes the pitch. Just because you are doing a similar motion with your right hand doesn't mean it's the same effect. I know that both tremolo and vibrato can sound pretty similar on a guitar if the modulation isn't to big, but I will always split hairs when it comes to this topic. We can thank Leo Fender for calling a vibrato a tremolo. It also doesn't help that companies who are offering vibrato systems for guitars, like Floyd Rose, are calling their systems tremolos.
      But in general:
      Vibrato - modulation in pitch
      Tremolo - modulation in amplitude

Hi Dom. Are most of the plug-ins geared mainly toward being use for guitars? I am a singer who plays keyboards & Hammond organs. I am more interested in plug-ins like the Cloner plug-in for vocals. I wish you would do a video on how to use that (Cloner plug-in more efficiently). I am also interested in the following plug-ins : FX Modulator, Ring modulator, Rotary plug-in, Tremolo plug-in, & Vibrato plug-in. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. As usual I wish you continued success with all your projects, & videos. Have a wonderful day.

Steinburg modulation effects are always really good.
Although their gates need a little AI to work well. The Flanger and especially Phaser could benefit from a pole selection and positive/neg FB option. Why they haven't implemented this is beyond me.

Yeah, and remember ppl! These are just the modulation fx that come with Cubase, there are more ... in that same "price range"! 🤑😎 You can probably pay half the price of Cubase for a "selected suite of extravaganza marketing hoopla plugins" and they might or might not sound as good. So what plugin to dive deeper in? Has to be the ring modulator!!! You can get some sick sound by going overboard with it. Listen to Gutheri Govan here ruclips.net/video/Jv-fcUPOqOw/видео.html but don't miss the super melodic and totally wild guitar solo just prior to that? 🤯 Back to the ring modulator Jan Hammer has also done some of these almost unpitched sounds for aggressive leads but on keyboards of course. That would be great video material? 😁
