About me:
My name is Anthony Chisnall. I'm a musician & songwriter.
My channel is these things:
1. A place to share my music - both songs and instrumental pieces. Much of the music I write features in...
2. Tutorial videos about music composition and production
3. An outlet for me to discuss all things musical - including technical break-downs of software and tools that I use, as well as more wide-ranging discussions of topics that interest me.
I play the guitar (electric, acoustic, and bass), and record all of my own synth-based sounds myself too, but I can't sing very well (huge understatement!), and so my wife, Pauline, who has a lovely singing voice, has come to my rescue. You'll hear her on all of my songs.
All of my music is written in Steinberg's Cubase (currently Cubase Pro 13).
I try very hard to make my videos PRACTICAL and no-nonsense - if I don't use a feature, I'm not going to waste your time trying to sound like an expert on it! This is the stuff I use day-to-day, so I think that's also what you'd like to hear me talking about.

Here we are. Now we have a programming language inside Cubase!!!!!!
I was a software developer by profession and even I do a big sigh at the prospect ;)
Thank you so much for your expert tuition. I love the way you go into depth on the subjects you choose whether it be synths or DAW's. Your channel is my go to channel for anything steinberg or arturia. I have watched your tutorials on groove agent and halion and they are very in depth.
I'm really glad you like my content, thanks very much for the kind feedback :)
Thanks Anthony! Glad I found your channel!
Thanks for that, and welcome :)
Wow, thanks for going the distance and showing MIDI-triggering for Shaper modulators... that gives me a feeling of "powerful thing to explore"...
Glad it was helpful, thanks for the feedback!
That's the most useful vid I've seen on the new modulators - by far the most useful feature introduced in Cubase 14.
Cool, thanks for the feedback :)
Thanks Anthony!
You're welcome :)
I'm very excited to set aside some time to go through this video and I'm hoping you have a few more Cubase pro 14 videos in the works. Nobody has clear explanations like you.
That's the plan, thanks for the feedback!
Made it through. Very useful and thorough. I need to see if you have any videos from the Arturia effects bundle (other than the Studer). I'll check.
Hi Anthony.
Thanks for this! It's another extremely useful in-depth video which will save me a LOT of faffing about trying to work out how this stuff works and what I can use it for!
Keep up the good work. Tutorials like this mean that I can spend more time making terrible music and less time staring at a manual, failing to understand it then crying a lot.
Cheers
Dai
P.S. Just in case you hit this problem...... When I first installed cubase 14 Pro it seemed as if continuous controllers like pitch bend, the modulation wheel and any sliders and knobs on my controller keyboard didn't get recorded properly. The pitch bend etc sounded OK when played in and recorded but seemed to generate completely incorrect values when played back. Apparently the default for recording continuous controllers in Cubase 14 is is in ramp mode whereas in Cubase 12 it was step mode which generates a lot more controller points and works correctly. There is a tiny icon in the bottom left hand corner of the controller lane section of the key editor screen where you can change this. Thought I'd just mention it in case you hit the same problem. It caused me great entroubulation!!
Great tip! I hadn't bumped into that yet, but I just checked and I am indeed in ramp mode.
Thanks, Anthony. Another excellent in depth video, full of great ideas.
Glad you liked it!
🖐🏻🖐🏻
very informative
Thanks!
Very thorough as usual. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the feedback!
Thx awesome like always 🤌
Thank you too!
I'm commenting quite early as I've saved this to watch later so sorry if it gets covered but I need to ask whilst it's fresh in my mind...
Is it possible to link modulators to other modulators? Or even just modulators to the macro modulators dry / wet for some really interesting automatic automation?
Edit... I've watched it and you've covered exactly what my plans were with the envelope follower outputting to another modulator, lovely jubbly
Sorry for the delay in my reply - glad I covered your question in the video :)
