The first medal set could be a great addition to whatever the modern Essex Regimental museum is. Royal Anglicans? They'd be well cared for and lots of people would learn this brave man's story
The policeman who wa awarded the George Medal is also entitled to the Defence Medal on the basis of having been awarded the George Medal... I have a distant cousin who was a fire fighter and got the GM... and wore the Def Medal as well because of it.
@@milsub59 That cant be right (I believe that's why the valuer didn't even mention the MiDs) as it wasn't until 2014 that multiple Oakleaves could be awarded even if you had multiple awards gazetted. From 2014 you can have a maximum of 3 awarded but before 2014 you would only receive an oakleaf for the first award even if you had been awarded a MiD on multiple occasions. I suspect what may have happened is that he was gazetted a MiD twice but as he was only awarded one oakleaf he has acquired another from a different source to represent that 2nd award. The reason I think this is because why would a man who has already been awarded the higher awards of a Military Cross (MC) and Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) want to make up an extra MiD that he wasn't entitled to, that wouldn't make sense.
I get so choked up when I hear about these brave individuals. I haven’t got a clue who they are but none the less, who cares
Whoa… in that picture, the sphinx is still buried. That’s so cool
