good to see that even with goldsrc, the source engine and hammer have always been janky AF, great video!

I hate hammer so much. I'm just glad I got at least one of my hammer projects done and published.
I hope I never open hammer ever again.

@@giberic why does valve make their software so hard to use, SFM is stuck in 2011 and hammer just looks chaotic to use

@@lolspacey Hammer tools are stuck in 1996. There's really not much difference between the Quake level editor and Hammer.
It's crazy that Valve can use such terrible tools to make such great things.

@@giberic also, the community making custom maps with hammer and movies with sfm, it's amazing to think how much stuff has been made with bad tools compared to other engines

I'm the same way where I've used Hammer a lot, but never actually finished anything. I've released only two small maps, one for GMod and one for HL:A, over the course of 3 or so years.
And if I trying to fix a decompiled map like that, I would've just made it from scratch, using the original as a reference.

I think that's how most people are with hammer which is really unfortunate.
Someday I'll get around to finishing up all of my other maps and releasing them even if nobody will ever play them.

Me and my friends would make small maps for CS:S at LAN parties on the weekends and play vs each other. Probably the most magical time of my life and the happiest I've been.

There's just something really great about making a map specifically for friends to play on.

Honestly really cool that you were able to set the goal to finish the level- and then actually do it! It's an incredible feeling to create something, even if it isnt ultimately experienced by many people. Though getting anyone to play it at all like you did is a pretty big deal! 😊
Having unity and unreal experience now, i can confidently say that hammer still looks like an unintelligible mess like it did when i was younger.

The algorithm showed me this video, I have minimal experience with Half-Life outside of Jolly Wangcore's modded HL vids. But I have done a bit of game design over the years. That bug reminds me of an issue I once had compiling in a game engine I used as a game dev student.
Whenever I compiled the code the engine editor would crash, and I never figured out what caused it. But the odd thing is that the engine saved the compiled code and ran it, until I'd eventually try to compile it again as I made updates to the game.
Liked the editing quality, and thanks to the algorithm for showing me this. 👍

That is such a weird bug! I'm surprised I never experienced something like that whenever I had to deal with decompiled goldsrc maps. But I only really work with HL1 and not OpFor, maybe that bug is exlusive to OpFor.

I think it might have something to do with the version of ZHLT I was using because when I was trying to recreate the bug for this video, I couldn't get it to happen when compiling with SDHLT.
      Still really weird

I've seen some of your videos and i think it would be nice for us to play some opposing force in the future, what is your discord name and tag so we can schedule some games there ?
