    The best thing about Hyper Physical shotcaster is that it lets you summon a hound without getting the bonded weakness.

    I noticed a pattern where they rated support cars higher than the other customizable cards. I think support cards (firearm support, tome/spell support, trait support) fork a good niche for customizable cards that allow other more direct cards to shine in different ways with the proper support. Vs competing for established cards slots like weapons or armor etc. Especially if that help niche cards get the spotlight more with more support.
    That said, shotcaster and damnable testimony Trish for life!

    Some random thoughts on different customizable cards:
    Fully upgraded runic axe feels like a cyclopean hammer, but actually fun.
    After playing Rex with raven quill+grim memoir, Trish+damning testimony, Tommy+custom modifications I cannot imagine myself playing these investigators any other way. But tried the same cards with others (mostly the testimony) and suddenly it didn’t feel good at all.
    In my experience, no matter how many traits you pick for your Grizzled, it will always be your teammates that draw those encounter cards, and not you. I imagine in solo those cards just will always be on the bottom of the encounter deck. Kinda like Take heart=draw the elder sign

    Damning Testimony has a non-trish home, in Sniper Bob.
    Get Expose to kill enemies, and then use scavanging and the rat so you reload it.

    I like the raven quill(energy sap) in ursual downs with Archaic Glyphs, guiding stones and the red clock(2). You can use the ghlyps more often and keep the red clock on the same tier every turn.

    Hyperphysical Shotcaster is absolutely my favorite of the customizable cards. I'm not saying it's good, but its incredibly fun! Discarding treacheries from play, discovering clues at any location, and most importantly, playing Summoned Hound for no cost (I mean, there's absolutely no character except Charlie who wants to do this, but it looks fun AF) -- what's not to love?!

      @@kitsunin4690 there's a difference between pulp, and jokey steampunk anime-scifi, totally against the flavour of Lovecraft. I stand by my comment: TSK was bad and the shotcaster is dustbin material!

      @kitsunin4690 Год назад

      @@bigulf6712 I don't like TSK, but I point to the quality, not the content matter. A question this time: Do you think SCP is cartoony?
      I don't know if you know about Dark Matter, but it's a far future spacefaring campaign presented as a sequel to Path to Carcosa, and in my opinion, it's much more in line with a "unique, creepy feel" than any official campaign outside of maybe Carcosa itself.

    Thank you for found this video. Upon seeing the customisable cards, I was not thrilled due to the extra complexity. After seeing this I'm really bummed they ever designed these cards and sincerely hope that were a one off and this is the end of these cards types for ever. I get the idea and appeal but it's just too much and not fun when these cards all do what could have been 5 times as many cards of the effects from all these customisations were just made into seperate cards. They're too flexible and mostly busted strong when maxed out.

    I think it's a shame that the expansion included so many copies of the upgrade sheets for customizable cards that I can't help but feel that they could have just printed 2-3 different versions of each card and dropped the customizable thing all together.

    • @MadUncleAndy

      While I like the customizable thing, I think they could have gotten away with a single upgrade sheet for each. Sleeve them in a glossy sleeve, mark with a fine point Sharpie and clean them with an alcohol swab when you're done

    I think friends in low places may be overpowered - even in side access like Dexter or Leo, upgrading to clever and prompt to fast set your next six draws is so strong. You can bury or time weaknesses, line up easy marks, ensure your draws match your economy during setup, it’s really helpful - so much that I often forget you can pay to draw a card, the stacking is the real value.

    You can draw 6 cards (or 9 after upgrades) for 6 (or 9) resources (or 5 [or 8] after upgrades) with Friends in Low Places, as long as all 6 (or 9) have the matching trait (or traits after upgrades).
    You can also plan out your next however-many draws with it, including timing your weakness(es), if you take the Clever upgrade, which enables some really silly stuff.
    I still think they should just make more permanent versions of talents. I also think they should've made this a Mystic card and made the Servitor a Rogue card. Rogue can get the extra actions to make Servitor great, and Mystic desperately needs the filtered draw.

    As a person who enjoys true solo, I never see myself playing "hyperphysical shotcaster". In my opinion "in the thick of it" is the actual solo support we got, when that 3xp is benefiting 100% of your team it makes a far bigger difference. Also don't see how tracking the location of your "summoned servitor" is that much of a bookkeeping headache, but that's just me.

    My Dexter deck with Leo, Haste and maxed out Summon Servitor is taking 8 actions a turn since you can move with the Servitor. Living Ink, Crystalline Elder Sign, and Geas all add to the Servitor's base 4 tests. I'm going to be taking Power Word later to evade enemies and turn enemy damage into healing.

    Does anyone know how Grizzled with Always Prepared interacts with Graveyard Ghouls from William Yorick? I think you get it back when drawing ghouls, because an encounter cardtype weakness counts as being drawn from the encounter deck. And Grizzled would trigger before Gouls enters play, but I'm not sure about the timing. The FAQ on "Let me handle this!" makes me even more unsure, though it could be the added "but before resolving that card's effects" part that not make it work on that card.

    • @danielscarpace
      @danielscarpace Год назад +2

      I think the answer is "no" simply because Always Prepared triggers "after" you draw the particular card, so you already suffer the effects of the Ghouls (cards can't leave your discard pile).

      @rupert7565 Год назад

    100% agree on your take on the Shotcaster. Incredibly convoluted bad design, and most importantly it makes a joke of the mood of the game. Too cartoony sci-fi for the Arkham LCG, a problem that happens a number of times in scarlet Keys. Not only binder fodder, but garbage bin material!!
