Today you get a two-for-one learning experience! We're covering how you model a lattice and how you use Solid Tools to modify it. Follow along as we show you the basics.
Superb! I was just modelling a Pergola for my daughter and the thought of having to work out a method to do a lattice was daunting. Thanks a million for this. Job sorted!
@@chrisb3927 But of 3058 views only 252 liked it (so far, as of 20:20 18.03.21)...so I wanted to express my support even more :) I've learned lot from these small snippets and the live-streams and even though I'm a level below amateur I manage to make some useful stuff because of these videos. They really are high production quality, very easy to follow and educationally beautiful (in my not so humble opinion). Happy to hear there are more of us :D
The lattice work was nice to learn, but I really liked the solid tools tips. Work flow and use of solid tools is something I need to get straight. I have mainly worked with components, so if I need to use solid tools my components get messed up. I need to work first with groups and then make whatever components I want after doing all the solid tool work. So, anything with workflow and solid tools will definitely be of interest to me. Thanks for the great training.
done good! am i right to assume that this technique of lopping off pieces of geometry will only work if both are solids? is there a way to do this if you have a group you want to slice is not a solid?
Can you show an example of this where the lattice is not lapped with each other and made into a solid. Instead it is a very long chain of separate slats. Solid tools does not like this. I am trying to cut birds mouths out of many many unique and changing rafters and want to subtract a notch out of many solids at once without exploding my rafters onto other geometry.
@@SketchUp thanks for the reply, I’m using SketchUP Pro, but can’t figure out how to find the controls, note I’m using the IPad interface. Can you assist me in using the Solid tools on my IPad, using SketchUP Pro?
Thanks for this. I am getting this error when I hit union: "One or more of the selected objects is either not a solid or is locked. The non-solid/locked objects will be de-selected before this operation is performed." Does anyone have any idea as to what I could be doing wrong?
More than likely, you have an object that is not a Solid. Try the Solid Inspector extension, or bring your question to the forum (forums.sketchup.com/) for more detailed troubleshooting.
You are a very good teacher. Down to earth, kept it on topic and lighthearted. Well done Sir!
Thanks Aaron... Please more solid tools demo’s. These videos are just the right length to grasp the concept and get great technique. Excellent.

So easy....yet so advanced :) I love these easy to follow videos !!!
We all do Ove. :-)

I have never needed to create a lattice but the techniques used here I can apply to other work. Thanks Aaron.
Great lesson on clean cuts too
Thanks very much, Aaron...excellent teaching...very helpful to expand my Sketchup skills!!
Thanks Aaron, Solid tools for the win. such a simple method that can be applied in many different modelling situations.

Great presentation, as always, Aaron, keep up the good vibe.
Thank you Aaron this tutorial is very helpful
Very nice and clean tutorial, really helpful
My left hand actually went on for Ctrl S when Aaron finished everything to save! 🤣
Boy what a time saver Aaron from how I was doing it. Narly dude. 😂
I've been wanting for this one :) thank you!
Lattices are ideal targets for Dynamic or Live Components to get the basic shapes.
Many thanks.
easiest way to teach god job sir
Great lesson,thanks!!
Hi Aaron be great if you could share some tips and tricks on angular dimensioning
Thank You very much Bro.

Very nice! 👍
I've got to keep in mind the clever tools available... like making temporary Solids to cut other Objects.
hey nice job I have a request that you use your infamous skills and cerate something that will utilize the precision of sketch up, processor...
Sweet!!!
very smart tenks
excelente

I’m using SketchUP Pro on the IPad and can’t find Solid tool controls, could you do a tutorial on Solid tools with the new iPad interface?
Solid Tools are only available in SketchUp Pro (which is the software used in almost every Skill Builder video)

how to command multiple copy. "x 9" just like that?

Please tell me step by step for begginers how to import and how to make group please one video import to total designing please
