Giant Skeleton is one of the OG Giants in Clash Royale! It's been here since the very beginning, and it's had a long struggle finding a spot in the meta. It took a long time for this card to be properly buffed, and it's had some very high low points in it's history. This video covers everything about this bone head from 2016 to 2023!

I was that jerk who used Giant Skelly, Clone, Mirror, Zap, Tesla, Minions, Bomber and Wizard! Back before the death bomb had a 54% damage nerf against troops, and when the bomber still did 398 damage per hit! Gosh that was such a fun time lol
Royale giant definitely needs a video on him just because of how iconic the card was through out the games history, especially when everyone played him.

Problem is that Evos are likely subject to major changes and additions, and Gratz stated before that he prefers to cover cards unlikely to receive changes soon.
I always loved Giant Skeleton for his tricky functionality, then (due to his spawn laugh) it has a special place in my heart... But unfortunately I never used him that much, until now, that I made some decks with him that are really fun to use

Getting the giant skeleton to the tower feels so fun, it’s like a mission impossible run where you’ve gotta log the swarms and distract the meat shields to deliver the payload.
The giant skeleton was always one of my favorites and I loved the off meta decks with him. He is the card that I got the best with, and I always felt like an underdog like you stated, and that reward watching that timer tick down near a tower was amazing

G Skelly has been a low-tier card but he has always been fun. I am interested in seeing the stats for the evolution cards and how their winrate has changed the meta, (or made it worse to get in to).
The giant skeleton feels like a payload which you have to carry to the tower.
And the background theme from mario galaxy in the intro fits this card perfectly 👌

Giant skeleton is my favorite card. It can get so much value both in defense and in offense. It’s good to see him being a balanced card and not op or too weak, it’s a really healthy card for the game

My favourite strategy with skeleton giant is skeleton giant+clone so he can a bunch of damage on towers instantly.

This is interesting, I thought as the common trope of skeletons and the unique idea of it being the only giant to target troops. My question is why not use it defensively? Almost all the skeleton cards are defensive. There's currently only a handful that are purely offensive. That being WBs, Graveyard, Balloon and Scarell. Every other card is more defensive so it makes sense for it.
Also side note how about a Golem video? It's been affected quite a bit with the night witch and beatdown so it'll be interesting to see it's development
That’s probably why I like skeletons so much, they are either reliable guardians, or suicidal pushers.

The giant skeleton was ridiculously op back in the day. I instantly put it in my main deck and never removed it. It literally took down hordes of troops with its bomb. I was safe no matter how I played.
I also quit playing when they nerfed its bomb.

Ice wizard and barbarians didn't die to fireballs, arrows were too slow to deploy that minion horde took out anything flying in seconds, zap was broken and log wasn't released yet. No one sane would have 3 spells, dealing with barbarians would cost no less than 4 elixir if you're going against them and want a connection to tower. You'd have to use two spells and a lot of elixir. I'd just spam hog rider or giant skeleton with minion horde and if by some miracle you manage to kill the minion horde, I'd use goblin barrel while the hog's still tanking. Ice wizard was more of a pain than barbarians, especially since he costed only 3 elixir. It didn't get to tower, but its survivability was worse than modern day firecracker and not a lot of people had him. They literally nerfed half of my deck. Was fun while it lasted tho.
The giant skeleton bomb one shot almost every medium health troop including witches and anything still standing would be finished off with either ice wizard or spear goblins. Very nostalgic and now that I think about it, my deck was a b*tch hehe.
When the Skeleton Giant reaches a tower, it's always satisfying seeing the bomb take away like a thousand hp from the tower. Even if it doesn't get any other hits, just the bomb deals so much.

literally the number 1 reason he's my fav card and no other cards can even come close to taking that spot from him, even if it doesn't happen most of the time and second is that I love looking at him bonking other units head 😂
skeleton giant clone is a troll in midladder, 1 small mistake from the enemy and u win the game instantly
That is the only thing keep it from becoming useless that thing can beat medium cards and do so much tower damage even if it dies

I'm one of those giant skeleton players who has stuck with him through thick and thin throughout almost the entirety of the time I've played Clash Royale. I've used him since 2017 not long after I unlocked him and still do to this very day.
Giant skeleton is special to me. I'm not sure why but something about his appearance and his unique trait of doing massive death damage with his bomb really made me adore him. He's been my favorite card in the game for years now. The deck I've used him in to push on ladder is completely unique too, the popular decks mentioned only share 2-3 cards at most with my deck and I've felt a sense of pride that I was able to craft a unique deck of my own using him that actually got me somewhat high in ladder back in the day.
That's why ever since you started making these videos covering different troops I was really hoping you'd cover the giant skeleton someday, and my wish has finally come true! So thank you for covering his history and I agree that he's in a fairly balanced state these days. I think he could benefit from slight buff or two but it's not necessary.

Cannon Cart might be an interesting one to cover. The only troop that turns into a building. It arrived at the same time as our infamous midladder menace, the megaknight, and has been in and out of some of the most broken deck archetypes. There are many instances where it's in the bottom of use rates but in the top of win rates, being a very underrated card. It's been changed so many times that even I have a hard time remembering. And now it's in a weird spot where it's not really used, but I can't help but keep noticing it's incredible potential in every deck I play it in. Been my favorite card since its release. (quick tip for midladder players put there, this card literally counters your opponent's entire deck. full counters witch, wizard, megaknight, executioner, ebarbs, you name it.)

I love this card. My deck that iv'e used ever since 2017 is: Giant skeleton, Balloon, Skeleton army, Bomber, Bomb tower, arrows, rage , and freeze.
The highest I ever got with it was grand champion, but it's by far my best deck. I love using skeleton emotes while playing "spooky scary skeletons" in the background when using this deck XD
It's kinda weird to even consider Giant Skeleton a giant in the first place, one reason I find relating to its name. Goblin giant is a Goblin that is also a giant, same for electro giant and royale giant, their name ends with 'giant', being called giants due to their nature. Giant Skeleton however, doesn't sound like a skeleton-like giant, but instead, a giant-sized skeleton, a skeleton of colossal height and mass, 'giant' being its name due to its size instead, which would make sense in the context of why it doesn't prioritize targeting buildings, as in terms of nature, it is not a giant, it's a skeleton. Another example of this is the Giant Snowball, its prefix 'giant' being used to point towards its massive size, because after all, I don't think a big chunk of snow can be considered *a* giant. The idea of it would have changed drastically if it would have been called "Snowball Giant".

The sheer satisfaction of getting that massive explosion on tower did it every time for me
Giant skeleton is a fun card, but as almost everybody says, is really impractical. But it will always hold a special place in my heart for getting me through arena 5-8

When I played before quiting due to UfL, I used a GS Sparky deck. With rage dealing damage, having a raged GSkelly, and Raged Sparky was super fun. I could be shit down for a huge amount of the match, but one connection could bring me back in the game. Too bad SC fucked the games updates so badly I couldn't justify playing anymore
If Supercell just didn't make him an offensive card, he would've been practical.

His old bomb was so great for defence. He wasn't a win condition he was a defensive giant who's whole purpose was death, much like his wallbreaker brothers.
Now he's just meh but he was one of my most used cards between arena 6-8.
My favorite card from the game as a whole. Always played it since beta, and yeah. It’s pretty hard to play it, but it definitely felt proud filled when you win with it. There’s something about Giant Skeleton that makes it so fun to play with and certainly really satisfying.

fact that i have never used skeleton giant clone deck but still liked to play it with freeze, i once tried to create skeletons only deck with witch and some spirits. I can never mess with my cards again in this new CR as im already really Underlevel
He is my favorite too. I actually use a deck that has 4 of the cards from Nater's 2016 deck.
G-skelly and marcher are my favorite cards. before reaching 5000 and unlocking clone and nado my main deck used to be g-skelly, marcher, w-breaker, cannon, skellies, log, arrows, archer and ice spirit. Now I just replace log with nado. And for 2v2 I play clone deck.

The moment i saw the giant skeleton i fell in love with the card. The moment i unlocked it i started using it. Been using the Giant skeleton since 2016 lol. Have always had it in my deck and still do to this day. I play the game casually and got over 8000 trophies in ladder with him. i also don't use any of the decks you mentioned.
I’d love to see you cover Battle Ram. I’ve used it ever since it was introduced and don’t know much about it’s usage. I typically pair mine with mirror, goblin barrel, and elite barbarians for that maximum rush deck potential.

I honestly LOVE the giant skeleton, when I first played clash Royale I used him, and once I got older and knew synergies and things I STILL use him (with prince or sparky believe it or not) I just love the design because he’s so goofy but also menacing, I think an interesting idea was if they made him go directly to the tower like other giants, but the crown tower bomb wouldn’t do as much damage. It also would be cool to see a Giant Skeleton Evolution that throws the bomb like a bomber or something lol.

Ever since I started playing the game, Giant Skeleton has always been my favorite card. He’s very balanced and is honestly just so much fun to use. Plus his death bomb has come in clutch so many times.
You should speak about sparky next! Sparky had hardly been touched since the months following her release, but her supporting cards have supported her meta. I'm currently in champion using her and rising rapidly since my hiatus.
I have played her since the moment she released, and would be glad to help with any footage (i do not have any old footage myself)/ interactions/information if you wish
In terms of your idea Gratz, I think an interesting way to do it is when the Giant Skeleton has 50% of his health left, the gunpowder in his backpack barrel explodes, dealing damage only to troops, knocking them back like the royal giant evolution. Then to balance that the bomb deals damage only to buildings and towers. That way you have a way to attack troops AND towers in the most logical way. Of course maybe it would be a bit too radical to have both conditions only dealing damage to troops and only to towers in which case you can just adjust the crown tower damage for them to fix the problem

This card by far was my favorite card. I don’t play nearly as much as I did back then but this was such a joy of a card that I still remember fondly. I hope still does good in the future as I want others to still enjoy the card like I did!
FYI: if interested my deck was Giant skele, mini Pekka, Lumberjack, Archers, bomber, magic archer, mirror, and clone (sometimes barb hut).

One of my combos I do with this card is that I always place it with battle ram behind it to make it faster if I'm attacking, if it's fireballed and I have wall breakers I can place that on the same or opposite side depending on the situation.
I just came back to the game 2 days ago and this dude has carried me the whole game.
When launch, I was stuck on arena 4 until I started to use the deck I still use during this day: witch, wizard, skeleton giant, fury, arrows, skeleton army, minions horde and baby dragon. It is a 4.1 elixir deck but it literally took me to where I'm now.
My current trophie mark is 5347 and I'm arena 15, I have played 11 matches and only lost 1 match, I hope I can still play this deck in future arenas.
I haven't played Clash Royal in years but I've enjoyed watching your videos on the history of different cards. Back when I did play my favorite deck included the Giant Skeleton because I really liked the death bomb. The same went with Balloon so it was nice to see that they were a good combo for a while. I'm glad since I left my skelly bomb boy he's had a time where he was meta. To everyone who uses him I wish you the best of luck in the arena and I hope he'll get his time in the spotlight once again.

Giant skeleton has been my favorite card for years and nothing will stop me from loving the card so much. In 2016 when clash came out when i was 6 years old i already loved the card because of the design of him bc he just looked cool and he was my fav card judt bc of that but over years after i started to play the game seriously and not use 5.4 decks i realized how good the card was he was just so good at defending he was strong and his death damage was just insane the card will forever be my favorite
Favorite card in the entire game. Super flexible when it comes to def and off, while also not being too expensive imo or over/underpowered. Nothing can make me smile like I do when i see it make it to a tower!

I've been playing GS for 6+ years now and i think the time when the bomb killed the wizards and muskteers was the best time . Other than that i think he is fairly balanced now . But for the current meta a 2-5% hp buff or a little more hit speed would be great .
I've been using the Giant skelly ever since I unlocked him because I play full skeleton decks. I've gotten really good with my win rate too and I don't normally pay to play like some people.
The bomber is the best combo card I've put with giant skelly. I usually position the bomber behind for the sake of splash damage and the giant skelly in front for high single damage. Its an 8 elixr push but it almost always pulls something off whether its hitting the tower or stopping another push. The best counters ive seen are usually with inferno tower.
One deck I've used with GS is
Giant skeleton, bats, Cannon cart, miner, Wizard or Firecracker, Zap, Royal ghost, and night witch
I havent ever attempted to climb up the leagues but this deck alone got me up to legendary arena and up a few leauges back in the day
The thing I hate is when the giant skeleton is attacking a tower and then stops JUST TO CLEAR OTHER TROOPS. But when it dies near the tower, I love the powerful bomb. He’s on my current card deck alongside Evo Knight, Pekka, Mini Pekka (overly powerful alongside Pekka), Wizard, Fireball, Arrows, and Giant or Minions interchangeably. I have a pretty solid win rate, about 60-75%

I would love it if you would cover the dart goblin. It's been my favorite card since its release and i've always tried to use it in decks, even going as far as to make it my win condition in some decks. You've also become my favorite clash royale youtuber to watch as of late and these types of videos are so informative while also being entertaining. Keep up the good work!
I don't know if there's any actual sense or connection for mentioning the two cards together, but Giant Skeleton and Dart Goblin were probably my most favourite cards when I played. There's quite the fun both in the slow roll and in the quick buck. Chill defensive and adrenaline-inducing ...also defensive I guess. Both very satisfying to successfully turn into win conditions. So yeah, I also hope for a Dart Goblin video.
Royal recruits seems like a card that would be worth discussing. Golem also interests me quite a bit.
Skeleton giant is a goat lowkey, only giant i use consistantly and that bomb does crazy damage, on top of this hes a great counter for megaknight or even peka but struggles against witch or something like canon
I've been using giant skeleton in my deck and I've been doing pretty good with him, pairs really well with magic archer and balloon, massive damage and can do two separate pushes
The change you mentioned at the end would definently be a massive buff, mainly because it would be able to take out swarm troops really easily. Not only that but massive pushes would die extremely quickly because the bomb would be enough to make most troops weak enough to be taken out with a small spell. You can actually see something similar to this with the mighty miner as it has a bomb that activates when the troop is alive. A lot of pro players even use the mighty miner just for the bomb in a lot of defenses. That’s 5 elixir spent on just using the mighty miner bomb. Now imagine this with the giant skeleton. Let’s say the bomb activating is worth 5 elixir. That means for 1 elixir, you get an ice golem that fights back. That is broken.
I remeber as I young kid, giant skeleton was my favorite card. i loved rekting my oppenents pushes in mid ladder. I kept overleveling that giant skeleton, until one day in 2021, they killed it. Destroying its death bomb damage to the ground. I was devestated. I tried to switch things up but all my cards were underleveled and I had very little experience with them. I quit the game. Than I came back in 2023, I was suprised to see that progression became a lot easier. Not only that, but the giant skelton was doing far better. I was eventually able to upgrade other cards and now I run E-giant and golem decks. Still remeber and hold trauma of the fateful day. And even after I came back I still was stuck at the bottom of my area since I had no good deck to use since if I tried any other archetype than I would just get destroyed since my cards were so underleveled. I think the reason why giant skelton players are so chill and un toxic is because we have seen the worse. We have seen the giant skeleton threw its darkest hour yet we still continue to fight on. Unlike mega night or e barb users who were always spoiled with low-skill good cards, we have have seen and faught threw terror. I dont play clash royale anymore but back during launch, giant skeleton was by far the most fun card I had playing with the game. something about just trying to get this battering ram into the base and have it blow up felt so invigorating. Its a card that is built around its death so it was always fun to play around when it died.
Its not a card with synergy nor does it do everything. Its just a damage sponge that dishes out afterwards and he really doesnt need to be anything more than that.
I like the giant skeleton I just started using it sure it might not be a good card by itself but if you get it to the tower, it feels so good and it does so much tower damage I love it.
I think it would be good to mention how the clone synergy was strengthened, when it started to push the units forward, instead to the left.

i love making decks around giant larry, wall breakers, and royal delivery. royal delivery and giant skele provide such insane defense that can pressure elixir out of opponents and allow me free tower damage with wall breakers. currently i use evo bomber, cannon, log, fire spirit, and little prince with them. the insane defense and counter push that this deck has allows my wall breakers to have constant free run of the opposite lane tower. if anyone reads this, please learn giant skele, it is such a rewarding and fun card to use.
As a 3k trophy player, I started using it at arena 4 as a arrow bait deck it was so viable as I can use so many comb with it for example:

Good for defense and offence. Easy to use, but not overpowered.
Your balance change is definitely a nerf I feel. Ranged troops won’t get hit by the bomb anymore since they won’t walk into it.
That’s what exactly I was thinking, his idea was really bad. He needs to be able to kill enemy troops with that bomb. It’s more important then him getting to the tower.
@@cjleehazeyeah but we run into the same issue that has happened since 2016 where that bomb being able to devastate a lot of troops with a massive amount of damage is extremely unfair and unbalanced. At this point of 2023, we might as well call him a win condition now since his original purpose anyway was to get him to the tower to get full potential of his bomb, which is tough but is why a lot of people do respect others who use him because it’s hard to get value for what he does offensively.
That said, considering that it’s not seen very often and it’s rates are middling at best, it could consider a small buff on a stat that hasn’t been touched yet (no, do not change speed because that’ll make it the same level as pre release cannon cart, which was extremely broken)
I personally used this card a lot back then in 2017 when it was in its worst and then never really used it again until 2021 where unsurprisingly, was still really bad. That also said, I love this card for how straight forward and stupid it is.
not even that. he already stated that the point of doubling crown tower dmg and nerfing his death dmg to units still is the most balance way you could have done to the card. my guy its still hard as fuck to escort him to the tower and you want him to drop the bomb atha lf health. are you dumb lmao

Giant skeleton was actual how I climb ladder once I got it. Always had a fast unit behind it and clone. This was after the clone change where the clone spawned behind and pushed the original ahead. So much cheese with this one. Definitely a fav
The giant skeleton has been my win condition since i reached the skeleton arena back when the game first came out and despite all the changes is still my favorite card in the game! Thanks for the great video about my boy

Don't know what year it was, but I thrived with giant skeleton. It was a fun and challenging card to use. I still remember destroying my friends with it lol
I've been using this card ever since its release i love it and it always combos well with the clone and inferno. As long as i had splash damage in the deck its actually pretty strong.
Seeing this video, Reminds me I had this insanely weird Giant Skeleton deck but it worked and I loved it because it was just fun. I don't quite remember it since I haven't played game in so long but i loved it and won a lot with it. Was awesome

I like watching these videos when playing Clash Royale, and right when you mentioned the death damage the opponent put down his Giant skeleton and killed most of my troops with the death bomb.

Giant Skeleton was slept on, it was my win condition in my deck before the rework nerf.
GS, Clone spell, Tornado, get to work.
Then they nerfed it so that its death damage wasn't as "terrifying".
I'm so glad that the giant skeleton got balanced because I was stuck in lower arenas because of bridge spam and over level cards, and the giant skeleton helped me push about 7 arenas which made me really like the card and help me get to the arena I am now (15)
fun fact i have been there when the skeleton giant was OP as hell my deck was shining thx to it i was able to Overpower the people who drops there cups to troll the people that are at the lower areas is was fun to see there troll pride getting destroy by my lower level deck after so many nerfs on that card some how i still manage to keep using it even if is shit but thx to the new times my deck is to say the least a Huge pain in the ass to play against to the fact that it can cycle 2 of the main stars in this deck of mine.

well i have been trying the hero cards on this deck by replacing rage with one of them but the old deck is a absolute Monster even now, people may say is hard to use if you really want to try it, but if you can grasp the way to use it you can Win against players that are stronger in level then you but it takes time to learn the combos you can create with this deck it works in 2v2 too but ask long so you team player dont give up after failing to defend a tower or pushing to the other side.
I mean yea man even if there's some stuff like the evolution card or the heros card if you play your deck correctly you don't need them just need your good old start and big old giant skeleton

I've been playing giant skeleton since I started the game and it's still my favorite card it's so satisfying when the bomb connects.
Giant skeleton is one card i loved for awhile and i had always played off meta cards because i never liked relying soley on the strength of my card rather than my strategy with the card and i liked being more strategic than strong

I'd really like to see Pekka next, as a similar card which is really hard to get to the tower, but has a MASSIVE reward for doing so
I used to main giant skeleton ever since practically day 1, and i fell in love with him. I would use him in any deck no matter what. And honestly after the nerf, it demotivated me from playing the game since it was never the same. Even if it got the 50%+ crown damage back, watching it not even kill a scrawny wizard just didn't sit right with me. I would pair him up with the electro wizard, inferno dragon and dart goblin.
He was a card built for defence and they took that away from him early on, I used to love the bomb damage on troops as that along with his health ( not the best but still good) made him almost unstoppable when I played him, if your going to play 6 elixir which takes 18seconds to get you want something good. Especially in a game where you can do a lot in 18 seconds

I'd love to see history of the Sparky next! I find it intriguing because it's just never really something I ever paid attention to, kinda just wrote it off as high risk high reward and therefore not very good, and its use rate going way up with Goblin Giant felt pretty random, so I'd definitely like to hear about how exactly that happened
You should cover the ice golem next, as it has always stood out to me as a unique card.
Theres not really much of a history to it so I doubt he could make a video focused on just the ice golem
I been playing giant skeleton hog for at least and i dont think im going to ever change that. Literally my two favorite cards in the game and they work really well together
I know royal giant is probably not done with balance changes, but for a future video could you do rg? It’s been through quite a lot of changes.
Balloon is another good idea, as it has undergone a lot of reworks as well.

i confess that i've never been one to play a lot with the skeleton giant, but i've never seen a card as forgotten in recent times as the lava hound, this card fell into the abyss of oblivion lmao 💀
The lavahound is really strong right now
