Cometh the hour cometh the man, truly pivotal moments in history so greatly influenced by the actions of great individuals. My son and I thank you for your time and effort In making your videos. Kind regards
Thank you for this and awaiting the next part. I watched The Last Kingdom on Netflix and it was riveting and seems like up to here was pretty close to this. Makes me want to watch it again.
RUclips comments sections are a great place to interact with people who have similar interests. We used to do this "in person". "In person" is where you talk to someone who is actually right there in front of you. You can actually see the person you're talking to, possibly even get to know them. Cheers from Round Rock Texas.
Agreed. It's coming from the main sewage stream, so of course they'll do as much as possible to promote paganism and the occult over the truth about a Christian King.
Living in such violent ages even Common villagers would have had a fair ability to fight and the general fighting forces in Armies of these times would have been made up from the peasantry. It wasn't until the Middle Ages that they were required by law & custom to train regularly with such as the longbow.
@@richardturner9317 the general training started under Alfred The Great it was later recodified under the Normans and others. The Longships had to be terrifying sight appearing out of the blue though
Those villagers would have seen nothing like what breached those shores that day. They were a ruthless creed and the Norse were a much bigger human at that time, no different to alot of our competitive strong men of today coming from that region.
As a citizen of East Anglia, and in particular the town of Bury St.Edmunds, I can almost feel the terrible "plague" that was the Viking marauders! Of course, the Norman's wound evently concore the land and their Feudal system can still, in a small part, be felt even now!
I am playing as Alfred in Crusader Kings 3, I pushed back Ivars attacks and now rule both Wessex and Mercia. With parts of Ireland under my control. I will see the Kingdom of England be formed under Alfreds great bloodline
The Romans done us a solid, from rage to learning. We took their skill and gave it back to them, the rest of Gaul heard that and took it to the Romans, it all spun out of control for Rome and it was the beginning of the end for them. Wish there was more to know about pre Roman Angle Terre.
No, the last battle in season 1 was the battle of Edington. If you remember, Alfred and the West Saxons were driven into swamp only to emerge years later to defeat Guthrum at Edington. Guthrum subsequently converted to Christianity
The occasional video game footage is still looks good
I have been enjoying your series of videos on the formation of England.
