  • I am so excited for you to meet Nathan. He is a 36-year-old with Level 2 Cerebral Palsy (CP) on the Gross Motor Function Classification System. He has more involvement in his legs than in his upper body. He has mild to moderate involvement. For him this means, he can stand independently but may need a second to get balanced. He can walk independently and can navigate stairs with a railing. He uses a wheelchair when he has to navigate longer distances. He drives and is very active in social media. Nathan is excited to share his journey as an individual with CP to be able to help others similar to him and parents who have a young child diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Nathan is a wonderful and exciting communicator. I am delighted to have his perspective. A long time ago, I was his physical therapist. This interview is broken up into 10-15 minute segments. Watch this playlist for future segments.
Nathan can be found on Facebook: / thelonelinesscoach . On Instagram: @therealnathantodd. On TikTok: @thelonelinesscoach. On RUclips: The Loneliness Coach, BadA$$ Boundaries, and Story Time with Mr. Nathan. He can also be found on www.baboundaries.com --his setting boundaries website.

You are the 2nd 3rd person that I've come across stating that people with mild CP that will age faster in there later years. I know that is true. It's not fun having pains plus, not being able to do the things I was able to do in my young years. Thank you.

I'm a 47 year old with mild spastic cerebral palsy. I just want to say that we desperately need more doctors and physical therapist that know or can study adults with cerebral palsy. The pain is rediculous and nobody knows how to help.

It has been such a blessing i went to a so called normal school

Then another in 1999 for automotive engineering ie mechanic
Loved bashing normal kids or normys as i call them

I’m a bit of a freak of nature though in my quest to show everyone how normal I could be I somehow beat most i am now 41
I grew up when it was okay to send disabled people to the
      SPASTIC CENTER OF N.S.W
Lived homeless for probably like 15 years that mad me tough and angry
All the good the bad and the ugly with little bits of kindness
Bikies, gangsters, drugs, guns ,women and of course money and property the whole lot
they were the only ones that would employ me
      And my beautiful dogs
Got lots of documents and photos and videos
I look back with some embarrassment but it’s what i had to do to survive
Would love to tell my story i am a prime example of what to do or not to do with a disabled person
It got that bad i had to spend years teaching myself medical crap
Basically beat doctors at their own game
The level of incompetence, dishonesty, arrogance and obtuseness I’ve copped
      It just boggles the mind
      Yes I have paperwork 😅❤
Become better than what they are trained to do
It will cause political crap because a lot has been illegal
Mainly grew weed in the bush it was worth money $
I’m like Forrest gump a bit but the bad version
Police know most of it and think it’s hilarious
And I would really hate for anyone else to live the way I have
I’m just really lucky with a little smart it was not easy 😂
The medical profession though hasn’t been good to me
I just got to meet a professor on the 6/7/23 and actually have some cerebral palsy treatment for the first time since 1992 so 30 years untreated
Her eyes light up instantly it was almost worth all the pain I’ve ever been through

This is SO important! I am 60 years old with mild CP, that went largely ignored from about age 14 on. I thought I had experienced all the limitations I was going to have. Then in my 50s I developed an unexplained early bladder failure. It did not occur to me to even consider premature aging as a result of my cerebral palsy. My urologist just said following extensive testing that he could not explain why someone at my young age has the bladder of an 80-year old. Likewise I had previously gone to a physical therapist around age 50 due to hip and back pain because my hips were out of alignment. When I struggled to perform basic pelvic exercises the male therapist seemed dumfounded and actually said, "I thought you said you had kids? It is similar to that motion. How can you not understand that function?" Said in a guy to guy funny kind of way. I was so humiliated, I never went back to him. Then another physical therapist referred me to a Neuro-physical therapist who was amazing! She was the first person to explain that all of these issues were linked to my cerebral palsy that was presenting advanced symptoms as I got older. So here I was in my 50's suddenly re-engaging in research and information on cerebral palsy as a middle-aged man. I am not sure if I was previously in denial, but I finally had an explanation for my chronic joint pain and bladder failure. I never considered myself disabled because I was not in a wheelchair. I had always had a pronounced limp and loss of muscle control on my left side, with slow motor skills, but my speech and quick wit were always intact. Hearing this news at 57 from a neuro-therapist was a Godsend. I finally had an answer and I cried tears of joy from relief because it wasn't anything stupid I had done to cause that. Rather, it was just who I was. I was born that way, and that brought so much peace of mind. Now I embrace and own my disability and am so glad there is a community of people, like me discussing this. Thank you for sharing this story.

I'm a 53-year old with mild cerebral palsy. It's definitely been a hard road but have always pushed through. I've been inactive over the recent years and now I'm very irritated and mad because I have to be on a walker. That happened about two years ago. I'm in the process of going back to PT next week. I haven't been to therapy for like 7 months. My last therapist told me as long as I do my exercises at home consistently I can be off my walk or three months so that is my goal. This walker is a big self-esteem chusher I definitely don't feel like myself so it is a work in progress..💯

I know someone who has mild cp and wants to play football, joins a football disability group but cant keep up or dribble to shoot, so just passes ball to others. Most of the time he just stands there as he cant run. But he can use his right leg to kick ball and do few skills.
