The way that you're designing this while considering our natural hand/finger movement is a major concept that the mainstream products are overlooking. I'd love to buy one of these.
Have you heard of Azeron? Because your invention is practically the same. Not saying you copied them, but I thought it would be a good reference for improving your peripheral.
@@run_down_mid8480 Wrong. I imagine you probably saw the specs and got that from the basic 5-way stick. The Azeron has 2 sticks, a 5-way and a true 360 stick.
We've missed you man! I took a look back at your channel just last week to rewatch the pc builds and was wondering where you had been! Great to see your back with another banger :)
Dang, I actually came up with a concept similar to this but it used the entire base as the joystick. Obviously I never tried making it but I’m glad to see someone made a better version
I used to use a Razer Orbweaver all the time. There are some differences between this and an orbweaver, mainly the joystick is an ACTUAL joystick. Freeing your fingers so that your thumb does ALL the movement is really a game changer. The only downside is reteaching yourself to jump with another key. You cannot use your thumb to jump in some games with this configuration, due to mechanics like hold space to jump higher while being able to press a directional key to change directions while midair. Anyways, Im excited to see your v2. I have been following all of your controller builds since the first one and love all of them. Keep it up!
Reminds me of the Azeron Cyborg - I LOVE your other hand held controller concept. I could see it really taking off, if you could make the thumb circle captured so that the pad wouldn't fall out. Could even make the capture ring replaceable and customizable, with different colors able to snap in.
I wish you the most success, you had a problem and tried to solve it, and went out of your way to learn what ever process it took to resolve it. Love what you do, and keep at it. I see fortune in your favor
Let's go he is back! This looks very nice, is this the future of your controller-mouse project or is this a separated project and you might still continue to upgrade the controller-mouse again?
I would assume this would be another project since this really wouldn’t put controller players on a more even playing field than M&K (with aiming still being done with a stick). Still a cool project though
How Sony & Microsoft & Nintendo haven't snatched this guy up is insane. He's literally doing what all those companies combined can't even figure out how to do.
why would they he has not produced a stand alone product yet. all his inventions is based off of relocation of parts from mice and keboards into his own physical contraptions. great hacks but nothing that he has done that you nor i or anyone else can't do if your a hacker.
I've been a life long k&m player and I've always wanted something like this and yet "gaming" companies have consistently dropped the ball and overlooked this necessity year after year. The fact that you made one is amazing. Would have loved to have grown up with something like this. Absolute game changer. I stupidly bought a Razer n52 (Nostromo) not realizing the joystick is actually a 4 way hat and not analog 360⁰ multi directional and never worked right. Have up on this idea and using it altogether since there's literally nothing like this on the market. Even your mouse is a clever design but your right, it's better to have that analog on the keyboard hand. Well done. Would definitely buy this
Quite excited to see even just the 3D files for this as I've been seriously thinking about building one myself but didn't want to be bothered with the ergonomic measurements. Though instead of using a hacked up controller it'd be nice to see this done with a custom pcb and micro controller/arduino/esp32 to make it something we can write drivers for to tweak and adjust things like deadzone, etc. Combine this with HE analog and maybe HE switches and you could do some seriously cool things with gaming peripherals.
This man is simply amazing the work he's done. The design here is genus. Can't wait to get my hands on this to try to make it. My 3d printer is willing & ready :)
Hope you’re doing well tech yesterday can’t wait to see what you have planned in the future. Im a long time viewer and if there’s someway I can support you I’d love to!
in 5-6 years, when y'all have single-handedly cornered the market on gaming peripherals, I want it to be known that we were all here near the beginning of y'all's journey. Keep up the amazing work!
Dude, I just found your channel and saw your previous controller design and I'm impressed with your ingenuity, the placement of thumb stick in a more ergonomic position is just brilliant!
I've seen more of these diys for these gamepads, but the makers of azeron are coming out with the master version...it has all the buttons at an more vertical angle allowing better ergonomics with the analog stick more vertical as well so when you press left on the analog your actually pushing left rather then upwards..if you kno what I mean. I have my Tartarus V2 set at such an angle my my side in my chair, I try to keep it at a height that my shoulders are leveled as well...ergonomics is so important to long term gaming.
@@techyesterday4960 I had left a comment in this video three months ago near it's upload, mentioning the idea of this concept, they released that video a month later..
Love your video man! To finish up my doctorate, I'm going to be doing some program development and research this summer in adaptive gaming for community members with motor disabilities. I would love to be able to pick your brain some time to talk about controller iteration, ergonomics, and the such.
Do you fine you self's hand getting fatigue from the finger buttons ? Great job. I want to do the similar thing. But I want it to have a laser pointer. 2:30 I have not came up with a great solution yet.
Looks great! I myself never had a problem with keyboard + mouse for FPS games apart from it not being as comfortable as a controller, but I get that for people who have never gamed on a PC before it's probably quite difficult to get used to. I'm hoping you will still work on your controller project cause that's something I would personally be a lot more interested in. This ergonomic keyboard+thumbstick is great, but you still have to use it at a desk and as far as I understood you still need a mouse as well. On the other hand, getting precise aiming on a controller would be even more comfortable and perfect for gaming anywhere.
My man with his crazy inventions. So I was thinking about something similar to this but with a right hand counterpart, with the mouse built in. The reason being doing a 180 turn with a mouse is terrible, but really easy on controller. So potentially you could use a thumbstick for fast/large movements and then slide it like a mouse when your aiming for precision movements. It'd interesting to see how the two perform together.
Search Azeron keypads if you’re interested in purchasing something like this. They have multiple versions of 3D printed joystick keyboards. I’ve used their original version for a while and can attest to the quality. Takes some getting used to but worth it if that’s what you’re looking for.
If you haven’t already thought of this you might be able to make the thumb stick press down as another key and use an xbox elite 2 thumbstick to add a KontrolFreek and adjust tension.
It's so frustrating that there's not a product like this to buy, which ever company gets their shit together and puts this on the market first will make a fortune!
Great solution! This is the 3rd idea around this type of gaming accessories, but the FIRST which using original switches. I have two suggestions: It should be adjustable as our hands are not the same size (also fo example I am left handed) and the control board should be a teensy or arduino board.
So with the launch of the Steam Deck, iFixIt has come out with a replacement Analog Stick. How simple would it be to use that instead of a whole ass PS2 controller?
I'm just here thinking that maybe this could be a great controller for people who don't have a hand, movement with the keys and the camera with the stick Maybe not for Fortnite but i think some games with a slower pace could work very well
You just built my dream controller. I was thinking about a similar project. But your design is more mature... I think I'm going to draw inspiration from yours.
Thanks for pursuing your passion! The world appreciates it. As a super casual and more couch oriented gamer I was interested in the mouse controller too. Will you be making the build info for that project open source too?
How does this avoid issues where certain games can only accept M+K or Gamepad input at once, and if the later mode is enabled, it can't read key inputs; and if the former mode is enabled, it can't read analog stick inputs? I've owned the Logitech G13 and the Hori Tacpro/Asssault Commander pro, which are similar devices, and that's the issue I usually run into with those.
The Azeron gets around this by simulating the analog stick as WASD directly, rather than full analog (but has options for both in the software). Made my life much better with Warzone and Doom Eternal! Having one with mechanical keys would be incredible, though
My opinion is i love gaming and have always played on consul but i am currently switching and i have had the same thought as to how keyboards are not an optimized gaming performance layout. I cant wait to see your tutorial video.
hey there, i wanted to ask you if you are still working on other projects. this idea got me smiling again since the last video i saw from you was controller thumb mouse v3. im excited what you'll come up with in the joystick keyboard v2.
This product should have been made years ago. Really awesome stuff. I have a razer Tartarus and the thumb button placement has less thought put in then your prototype. I don't have the technical know how to make my own. But I hope this design catches on.
the length of your wire could increase latency and increase power consumption. i recommend uncoiling that wire and cutting the excess off and re soldering. The build looks incredible btw. props to you for printing the chassis.
