If anyone starts watching right now I bet they will be horrified but I think it looks 1,000 times better than it did when you first walked us through it. Even that little bit of Kilz on the walls brightened the place up. And it must be an adventure to walk around and find things like fruit trees and hidden vegetable patches. Looking forward to the next video.

One day at a time. Just keep at it. It's amazing what a coat of paint can do. I went through 20 gallons of kilz. Every room and ceiling had to be kilzed in my house during renovation. Its worth a lot of money now. Once you get moved in, you'll be amazed at how much easier it is to get things done. Looking forward to all the future videos.

It is amazing how tossing trash and cleaning makes a world of difference. When the kill is done it will look so fresh. How to eat an elephant…one bite at a time. A year from now you will look at these videos and be like I forgot how bad it was. Don’t get a stove. Use the grill and burner and crockpot and electric skillet. I lived in Key West and lived year without a stove. You won’t miss it. Save the 500-700 dollars for insulation. Also don’t clean the green one. Toss it. You will spend hours and hours cleaning and it could still smoke. Use that time getting prepped for winter. Good luck!!🍀

Someone suggested an electric cooktop. A toaster oven is a good idea also. I think I’d do sponge baths or outdoor shower before I’d climb up into that tub ( but I’m 75 and don’t want a fall.). Find an old metal tub if you want a soak. That’s what we used at my granny’s when I was little.

I knew the Killz would help a lot! A few (unasked for) tips: Sit on your butt instead of scrubbing on hands and knees- much easier on the back. At the moment, I have neck and lifting restrictions due to surgery. While I can only sand 15 minutes before the pain starts, I can move on and do something else for a couple of hours then go back to it. Yeah, it's gonna take forever, but it really needs done while the weather allows. Remember: you don't have to enclose the ceiling on the porch this year. Screw up some old wood or whatever where air will enter the house. Heck, even stapling up plastic might work for the Winter. Looking good!

@@MonarchHarbor Yes, for sure you have to insure a warm, secure place for the winter. That will also give you time to live in the house and get a real feel for the place. You will probably change your mind ten times before you come up with a solid plan.
I remember years of hoping and dreaming that I could buy a home of my own. I was desperate and I didn't care what it was inside as long as I could lock the door and have a safe place to call my own.
I had to do a lot of fixing on mine too but little by little it comes along. See if you have an energy assistance program in your State. Your local Social Services should be able to point you in the right direction. In my state they replaced my entire heating system and electric box with a new one. I could never have afforded it so it was a life saver for me.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and hoping all goes well for you this winter.

I’ve done the whole renovate as you can thing. I really hope you already know about Facebook marketplace, habitat for humanity stores (or similar), etc. But what a lot of people don’t know about is the miss-tint pile at the paint stores. Amazing deals on really good quality paint. Just buy a brand new 5 gallon bucket from them and have them mix cans together to get the colour you want. Just make sure they’re all the same type of paint. You will save hundreds of dollars this way.

Couple more ideas after finishing the video. I like where you're going on this. (I'm 55, rehabbed a few old homes in my day and fixed up some apartments I rented, etc. on a strict budget and a bad back.) I'm trying to figure out where you're at. What state and when winter starts. The Killz is doing a great job with those walls. I love the stone on the fireplace. I don't what the deal is with that rocket stove. I'd move it or something. Make your bedroom in that area since you have a platform built in. Curtain it off. Put in a makeshift dining and food prep area by the window. I'd get rid of the green turd. You could do a Japanese style kitchen using a lot of the wood or pieces from around the property. Digging out your own corner of the world feels amazing.

Dude, progress has been made. Pull the trailer up and start loading it up to move to your trash sorting area. Clear off the porch. Outdoor kitchen is an option, but currently your gonna just be throwing smoke and grease up into the ceiling of your home. Get some plywood, and board it out, or something more permanent then screening. Go to habitat for humanity and see if they have a new tub/shower, drain piping, new kitchen cabinet, lighting fixtures, etc. - get that plumbing sorted before winter. As you said your getting older, a slip/fall situation in that tub yeah, no bueno- so that has to be high on your list. Give us a PO box, I'd throw you a smallish HD or the Big L gift card to assist in your purchase of materials. Or do a buy me a coffee thing, set a goal, fridge fund, stove fund, tub fund. Amazon wish list is also an option. I can't be there to help, but I'm rooting you on from the wings. You got this! Slow and steady wins the race- race to winter.

Just keep working at it and it’ll come together, it takes time. It looks a lot better already, you’ve gotten a lot done so far. A few suggestions but you probably already thought about this. There’s some foam board insulation you can get at the big hardware stores that would cover the opening over the porch. And the other suggestion is to get Zinser oil based primer for inside. It covers stains really well and covers up the smell. And you only have to do two coats, you might could get away with one coat. And primers should be covered with paint by 30 days. Also if you have a Restore Store around you they sell paint at a good discount. The paint stores used to sell
mis-tinted paint in their stores but around here they stopped doing that and now give it to Restore. Or you could check Salvation Army for mis-tinted paint?
Looking forward to your videos to come and your conquered milestones!

I am a new subscriber and this is only my second time watching. I like the type of videos that include rehabilitation of homes and construction. Please do not listen to those people that are telling you to tear the house down. Like you, I am on a fixed income, and I know what that means. Also paying $1500 at a hotel is better to put towards things you need for this Home. I’m on board with you about fixing up one room and living in it while you do work on the rest of the house. It makes no sense paying for a hotel when you could live in your own place. Best of luck! 🙏🕊

If that green stove still works, why not keep it until you can afford to upgrade and use that money for a more pressing issue? With a can of fume-free oven cleaner, gloves, steel wool, a scrub-daddy and a scraper you could have that thing clean in about an hour. Spray the inside and top surfaces down and cover the top with saran wrap - let it sit for an hour or two - then wipe it down with damp paper towels or rags. When we moved into our first home we bought a fridge at a garage sale for $25. Everyone told us we were crazy, but we got 5 years out of it before we had to replace it. Do you have a Habitat for Humanity Re-store in your area? It's worth the drive to find one and see what they have in stock. The prices are good and they generally carry all kinds of donated cabinets, building supplies, windows, doors, some furniture, hardware and appliances. In terms of sealing off the outside of the house where it's open at the top, I think screening will get wrecked by the local feral cats desperate to come inside once the cold weather hits. (I've had cat roommates for over 40 years and have had to replace plenty of screening due to claws.) Please reconsider the bathtub situation. With a bad back and leg you are endangering yourself with that pile of crap that's there now. Take a sledgehammer to that mess and pick up a regular bathtub you can put on that platform in its place. If you don't have the plumbing skills yourself to disconnect it and hook up a new/used normal sized tub, hire a plumber. You gotta be able to bath safely. If you install a faucet with a spray attachment you can use that as shower temporarily too.

You need help. You now have all this land and could make money with it. Maybe a farmer would like to harvest hay from parts of the land. Maybe get some RV self-contained vehicles to park and pay rent or work for rent. I think if you would consider doing live talks you would pickup more subscribers quickly. And with that lots of people that would freely donating to you with cash and gifts. You should consider that and work at getting a donation button for this channel with pay pal. I have watched so many channels just like yours who are working towards a goal and not just sitting and begging for dollars. When people see your daily vlogs of accomplishments they will back you up with gifts and cash to help you. You have to put pride aside and ask for help. Honestly you would be surprise at how many people want to help others in many different ways. If you could go live and chat for 30 minutes twice a week You will see a up turn in subscriptions.
