My man, it's been about a year. I've struggled with the battery not connecting for literally a year. I was on my last knees, saving up just enough money so I could buy a new controller and here you come around. Just took out my trusty screwdriver and rubbed the connector a bit. That was it. It works again. Thank you so much my man. Of all of the fixes, this was the one that actually worked.
That's why I share, I almost ordered a new controller, nothing else worked and this is the only one that did. So happy it helps others and save them money.
It worked!!! I actually started opening the controller before getting to your video. This is usually what I do with most battery powered devices when I get power issues but somehow didn't occur to me this time. A little scratching with a small flat head screwdriver and voila... Thanks a million. You saved me from wrecking my controller.
Thank you soooo much man 8 got my quest like 3 months ago, and it was one of my most valued items. I thought I was gonna have to save up my money again and get some new controllers. Right before I was about to give up. I saw your video and decided to give it a shot. Your video helped me so much and I cannot thank you more. 👍🙏🙏💪
Great video it was definitely helpful! This actually lead me to realize what my problem was after poking the terminals and it was actually the positive terminal wasn't springing all the way back up like the other controller was doing. The metal part wasn't flush with the plastic part. Took apart the controller most of the way and then kind of wiggled around the spring for it and with luck it popped all the way out again and now the light comes on the controller again finally!!
OMG! I just did exactly what you did with 0 hope because it was hard to believe the fix could be that simple after all this time and FIXED IT! I was so wrong, and you made me very happy. Thank you very much man! You're a legend!
I did noticed the contact had a rough spot on it and the substance was a bit hard to see. I took some fine grade sandpaper and gently rubbed it until it was smooth. Worked like a champ. Thank you!
Solved my issue. I knew corrosion is possible after I didn't touch my quest 2 for months while leaving the battery in the controller. I looked at it and it looked clean. After watching the video I decided to take a small knife and scrape the contact points, and it solved the issue.
Dude you are a lifesaver I have had this not working for months and months playing games with one hand and some games I couldn't even play with one hand you save me so much money and so much time and so much hard work I love you I'm subscribing
Same! Save me many hours of struggle! Did this on my controller and sure enough, some corrosion on the negative connector. I cleaned some up with a plastic torx driver and viola! The controller came back on. Thanks!
I went through partial disassembly of the controller since I am an engineer and I know that if it stopped working after a light hit that it couldn't be the battery thing problem, which looked relatively clean! However, I decided to give it a try and it lit up! Crazy, but thanks for the video.
You have saved me alot of stress bro. I just got this oculus from my dad and thought I was going insane when my left controller wouldn't work, even when I put in brand new battery's and tried my right controllers battery. Thank you fr 😭
dude you just saved my skin, my controller kept thinking the fresh batteries were at like 20% and it'd die so fast, but now it reads them as their correct percentages. thank you !!
Same how it was for me, and I already ordered a new controller and cancelled the order after I was able to fix it. Posted a video as I was sure many might have the same issue.
Sheesh! Had Quest 2 in storage for like a year and when I decided to pull it back out now left controller did not work. I did tried blowing on it and wiping it a bit but no dice. This video made me look at the connectors more thoroughly and sure enough, on the smaller, dented end there was bit of gunk that was really hard to see unless I shined light directly at it. Cleaned it with some q-tip and it works! Thanks a bunch for the video man!
Thanks - i was ready to bin my Oculus Go because the controller would not power on. Tried your suggestion gave the contact a rub with a nail file and it worked straight away! Many Thanks 👏👍😎
I normally don’t comment on things. However I have to give it to you this actually worked for me i used the screw driver and clean it with a towel popped right on. So thanks so much
This didn't work for me but I put a small piece of tin foil into the lower connector and then put the battery in and it worked! The spring in the lower connector (+) must have worn or loosened.
Dude. I was about to get my son a new set of controllers cause his right one hasn’t worked for a good couple months. I tried this and it worked instantly. Thank you so much
Holy cow.... you just saved me a sh*t ton of money, thanks man. This video needs to be highlighted more! Everyone else was just saying "remove the batreries!". Please share this with everyone.
Thanks. Yeh, exactly what happened to me, I was about to order a new controller and try last resort options. When this one worked, I just couldn't believe it myself and I decided to share it with others to save them money from buying a new controller.
Happy to hear that. Was the only thing that worked for me as well after trying so many other suggestions, why I decided to share it. Thank you for your comment.
My oculus controller has been broken for over a year and i just dont have the money to get another one i was just gonna save up for the new one but this actually worked i thank you so much after how long i tried and no matter how many times i tried this is the simple fix thanks man.
Hey it actually worked! Most of the time when I google tech issues, the first thing to come up doesn't fix my problem but this time luck was on my side I guess!
Holy crap dude. Thank you so much. My controller hadn't been working and I broke the controller from my old VR. And I was just figuring out how to get it to work and so I took a screwdriver and scrapped The residue Thank you so much for this tip.
I also had a no power on a left touch. The first time this happened was the 16 pos (pin) ffc cable from the grip to the mainboard was loose at the mainboard. That one is the most challenging of the flex cables to get re-seated. I got lucky by just assembling the two halves and the cable slid into place. I used a tooth pick to lay the clip down. If you are unsure that it might not be all the way in, there is a line printed on the ffc and it should line up evenly with the connector body. Keep in mind this is all under very tight spaces, might need a light and jewelers glasses to keep your hands free. The other issues of no power is the ring ffc's. There is a 8 pos and a 6 pos ffc connector bodys on the mainboard. Those 2 are very close to being exposed to moisture from the trigger area. Those are itty bitty 0.5 mm pins that get corroded and the slightest bump knocks the pads loose off the board. I opened one up to be greeted with a floppy cable with its connector still hooked up. Inspecting closer showed the pads were yeeted. new boards abound on the net and a new touch is 75$. Weigh that against a great repair shops hourly rate. PSA!!! WEAR GLOVES and keep it in a case.🧤
Oh bro- I was so scared because I thought it wasn’t going to work. Capture my whole face in shock and jaw dropping when my controller finally went back to life by just moving the battery- (context: I haven’t used my oculus in a long time and the previous batteries exploded and I was so scared they were gonna work again bc the connector was rusted) BUT THEY WORKED! Just needed some good cleaning and a little nudge- tysm for this tut!!
If a battery exploded there might be corrosion on the inside. In the future, if it stops working, you can disassemble the controller and remove the battery contact point, and soak it in lemon juice and baking soda to fix it.
wow i cant believe it it did work thx man. There was a a little battery leak and i think it coused a corrosion and a little bit of scrap with a scew driver it works now thx again.
I had the same problem. Right controller stopped working right in the middle of the game. Scratched the surface of the battery contacts and now it works!! Thanks
I am dumbfounded! It works! Thank you so much something so simple but I never would have thought about it as an issue. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this.
Got a little bit too rough playing blade and sorcery, and I accidentally struck my ceiling. Lefty stopped responding. Wasn't the first time I experienced problems with that particular controller, and I figured it was about time to put the old horse down, but instead of immediately ordering a new controller I checked the internet to see if there was anything that mighta been able to save it. Was a little confused at the instructions, but after about 15 seconds of rubbing the tip of a screwdriver on the battery receiver, I put the battery in and Lefty immediately booted right back up. I don't know how this worked. I don't know why this worked. But I know it worked. Cannot thank you enough for saving me the hundred or so dollars it'd take to get my controller replaced.
I’ve had problems with alkaline batteries in my right controller I don’t know why it only happened with alkaline batteries and they worked great with my left one but I got a small screw driver rubbed it lightly on there mettle part inside the controller and now it works thank you so much very helpful video
Thanks, it works. My left controller has some kinds of corruption and I removed it with alcohol and tissue but then it never waked up again. I use the screwdriver to scratch out the remaining corruption and it now works again.
This is amazing! How the hell did that work lol. Thank you! I thought my controller was done for. The battery already leaked probably and there was so much rust inside. But somehow scratching the thing saved it. WTF thank you! Subscribed.
thanks bro u helped me alot.even though none of what u said helped me,u helped me find out that my dumbass was putting the battery in the wrong way.honestly thank you.
So I found rayvac batteries were me issue? I have no idea why, they were brand new, I tried multiple, and went through every process and nothing worked. Finally i tried a different brand, enwrgizer, and it worked.
a kid on gorrilatag was asking for help with one of their controllers not working.. they said they put in new battery and it still didn't work. I tried to explain to them that the contacts on the batter and controller holdring the batter could be dirty.. and to clean them with some isopropel alcohol. I think this is one of the most common issues.. in particular because people get food and other debri and oils(etc) on thei finger tips and around the finger nails.. this could get on the contacts when changing batteries. It turns out that they only work while the charger is connected, I already tried putting aluminum foil but it does not work, any fix?
I had a battery explode on me inside the controller, cleaned it up best I could but it stopped working a few weeks later. Connector was covered in corrosion. Finally tore it apart last night, took out the battery end and soaked it in lemon juice then added some baking soda. Used Q tips to touch up everything else and reassembled it, now it works just fine again. Albeit i think I messed up some of the touch controls but as long as I move it continuously it’s fine.
For me, it was that I hit my controller and it must have damaged the battery itself. I just replaced it with a new battery and it worked again like brand new.

You are a genius, that worked for me! Thank you!

Thank you for showing me to move around my battery. It works!
Thank you so much for this video! It helped me fix my controller!
You're welcome!
i think i’m dumb I PUT THE BATTERY UPSIDE DOWN💀💀💀💀💀
I had the same exact thing, worked like a charm!
AMAZING!!! I pushed the button inside then out a few times and that revived the controller! Poor quality on Quest2 side....
I had a battery explode on me inside the controller, cleaned it up best I could but it stopped working a few weeks later. Connector was covered in corrosion. you are a blessing
How long do u have to run it with the screwdriver and how hard
For me, it was that I hit my controller and it must have damaged the battery itself. I just replaced it with a new battery and it worked again like brand new.
holy crap it worked thanks a bunch bro!
So happy it helped out, you are most welcome.
It worked thankyou so much! ❤
No problem 😊
