If your controllers are turning on, but you are unable to connect or pair them to your headset, proceed with the following article: smartglasseshub.com/quest-2-controllers-not-pairing-or-connecting/
Annoyingly my left controller is still broken. It will connect briefly, when I take out the batteries and put them back in, and then it disconnects then reconnects a couple times before it just completely stops trying to pair but the light stays on and keeps blinking. Do you know a possible way to fix this or will I have to buy a new controller?
That alliuminum foil tip, thank you, you are literally the best person on earth, my controller is working again. Please, whatever you do, just remember, small tips like that, save people like me 80 dollars when thinking of getting a new controller. You're a life saver
Same! That aluminum foil trick saved us from having to buy another controller! You’re the only person on here who suggested that too, I am so glad I found your video. Thank you!
Thanks a lot! You really saved me. I did a mix of two solutions: changed the battery and used the tinfoil. Separately, they did not work but I almost cried when the light came on when I used them together.
Thank god I thought to check the comments I did the same thing and it worked I was about to cry and then I read this comment and what do you know it works
Wow! I too had my doubts that the aluminum foil thing would work. I have a Quest 3. It's actually the positive end that is concave such that, if a battery is made in a way that the positive tip doesn't stick out enough into the receptacle, it might not connect well. So I put a tiny bit of folded aluminum foil in there, keeping the shiny side out, and it worked! I need to be able to like this video many more times than just once. One time will have to do. You have earned a subscription.
Thanks so much. My problem was the other way round. I had switched to a new set of rechargeable batteries which on checking are about 1mm longer than the old set. Switching back to the older (slightly shorter ones) and my controller now works again. Who knew AA batteries are not all the same size!
I'm having issues finding the plastic piece that holds the spring in place on the positive side of the controller. Its a little plastic ring that holds the mental contact in place that sits on top of the spring. Do you know if there is a replacement for that plastic ring?
Hey I was wondering if I could have anymore help? my controller has no power let alone connecting to the headset. I changed 5 different batteries and even tested the batteries. I tried the tin foil as well and it had no effect either. the battery isnt getting hot either any ideas to what it may be? the controller has no light on and has no power at all.
ur a living legend. I got the quest on my birthday and the left controller didn’t work. I tried the aluminum trick and it didn’t work. Then I switched the side I put the aluminum and it worked. Thanks and God bless
Thank you so much my controller wasn't working for almost a month and I was considering buying a new controller but all I had to do was wipe it down and it works again. Thank you again
thx , the aluminum solved my problem and 100$ from my wallet, you are awesome , if someone has this problem definitely im going to recommend this video.
For any others who haven't used their rig in a while and are having issues: My problem was that the system just inisisted that my right controller was dead. I'd swapped batteries, tried the tin foil and even sanded the negative terminal to ensure good connection. The controller powered up and the light on the ring blinked but the headset wouldn't see it. I used the Quest app to remove and re-pair the controller which worked fine but same issue. Just said 0% and the headset wouldn't acknowledge it was connected. I factory reset the headset and it immediately took a firmware update for the right controller. Now it's working fine.
@@kaidaone1419 that's awesome! Glad to hear it. It's a major drag when an expensive piece of hardware like that stops working. Especially if it's an item with maybe not the best tech support/repair options.
I tried factory resetting because I have and still have the same problem with my right controller, it sadly didn't work, I'll try again and maybe it'll work
My controllers are turning on, no spring issues, and all. But my right controller is failing to remain on and instead sounds like its buzzing and constantly vibrating and struggling to stay on. I've put aluminum foil on but that just appears to not do anything but boost the issue. The controller was on and working fine all day from about 4-8 am and then proceeded to struggle to stay on. I'm currently trying to find a solution but none have come up. This controller hasn't been smacked on anything and hasn't been dropped, but it did have a habit of fading out of existence (figure of speech for it drifting off) while playing games. Im still trying to figure it out so if you have any ideas please tell me-
Update: I have one solution that might work for you. I was having the same problem. First try replacing both batteries with new ones or different batteries then turn your oculus off for 5mins and when you turn it back on move yourself into a different room. I noticed that one of my controllers did not work in my room area anymore so try finding a new spot to play. Keep trying different area until it works again

Thank you so much!! I honestly had no idea how to get to the battery place and I was about to replace it but. The battery was just low. Your a lifesaver
My oculus right controller doesn’t turn on, and I already tried switching the batteries with the one that works and the left one keeps turning on except for the right one
You earned a subscriber today! I cleaned the corrosion/rust off my best friend's controller but it still wouldn't turn on. But the aluminum foil trick worked!
The pin cleaning method worked for me after an afternoon of frustration I thought I would need to replace my left controller thank you. It was just the smallest black debris blocking the contact to the battery
Damn u smart! I havent used this for more than 10x since a year ago. My left controller didn’t pair. I replaced the battery and it didnt work, i checked the terminal and it was corroded. I brushed it with a toothbrush and peroxide and im back in business!🙏🏽💯💯💯
Many thanks! I got my controller fixed by changing another battery brand. I didn't know that Guest 2 controllers are that sensitive for "standard" AA battery sizes.
THANK YOU! Step at 2:00 min mark worked! I tried different batteries. The tallest battery with the highest pin worked! Seems with wear, the contact pin on the controller battery compartment gets weak so it needs a taller battery to make contact! The battery on the right controller worked on the right but not on the left. I tried every method, dozens of videos and months of refusing to buy a new controller 😭. I am so happy! Can't thank you enough!
Guys, if the foil dosent work on the negative side, try the positive side, because that’s what I did and I fixed it. Thank you to the creator for helping me fix the issue 👍
Thank you so much I’ve only had my Occulus for a couple months and I couldn’t afford to buy a new controller but this video saved me $80 thank you so so much 😅🎉❤
I have an advanced problem I never heard of my controller still lights up when I put the battery's in but the NONE OF buttons turn or flash the light on the controller it will only flash if I press alot of buttons like keep pressing them all for like 1 minutes and it doesn't connect to my headset even though I tried everything I need help
The pins of my controller were not lose, so I thought the aluminium foil thing wouldn't work, but I said Whatever, let's try... and magic! I had to put it on the positive side, though. Thanks, man!
TYSM, I just got rechargeable batteries for my controllers and for some strange reason, the left one wasnt working, tried a regular button and the light turned on thank you!
I feel dumb for not considering this as I am a relatively clean person and don't like getting my electronics dirty at all but after a damp cue-tip and dry paper towel on the negative it instantly turned on thank you so much.
My right controller suddenly stopped working and a battery swap did nothing. I checked and the contact was a bit corroded so I used vinegar on a cotton swab to thoroughly clean it, let it dry and put the battery back and its working perfectly. Thank you!
OK I don’t know what’s happening but whenever my controllers are on the charger cause I have a oculus and controller charger the controllers turn on fine but whenever I take it off the charger put on my oculus and I try to use my controllers I just don’t work I put new batteries in they just don’t work and I don’t know what to do
Did what you said on the negative side there was a little corrosion and the contact springs down a little rough I wonder if its compromising connection because doesn't turn on even with new batteries.
So i tried the alluminum foul trick and it didnt work, but when i put the battery back in without the foil it turned on. I guess it doesnt matter how it happens as long as it happens. I guess it worked in a way?
I just got a new controller and I haven't hit anything and also have a full rubber guard fir the controller and I went to play my quest today and it just stopped
