I love that you de-clutter your kids' rooms. My mom never did and, as an adult looking back, I realized it lead to me not knowing when to let go of things as a kid and young teen.

Still me! I have a very good sized bedroom as they go, but as I've now been in it since I was 7 (only moved from the box room) the number of things that have accumulated in the past 16 years actually makes me feel guilty, but like EVERYTHING is NOSTALGIA! D:
I had the opposite happen, my parents convinced my siblings and I to get rid of the toys we outgrew and didn't use but weren't wanting to let go of and after that happened we (the kids) kept everything incase we regretted getting rid of it. We've all learned to let things go now but it was a struggle. I'm not a minimalist at all and probably never will be but I've cut down on quite a bit and I feel really good about it.
Idk I guess I'd have cried if my mother had throw out something I like. I kind of miss here that she is doing it together with the kids. They're still young so maybe thats why it could be okay, but for meit feels kind of wrong that way even if I know that a kid will notbeasily let go things. So I'm kind of unsure here
@@rhanx8689 no if start from young.For me as an adult and now have my own children, i still find declutter is hard,because when i was a kid,my mom never declutter my house.
Seeing your linen closet makes me feel like a hoarder. I love decluttering but I also tend to have a backup for everything.

Lol..I am definitely trying to get rid of a lot of stuff now the kids have flown the nest, but I get too sentimental..BUT I will do it, I want to be a minimalist for 2020..slow, but sure wins the race (although sometimes the 'ripping off the bandaid' method works better, so I can't change my mind!!)!

@@mog-gyveroneill2500 you can do it! I've found what helps immensely is thinking of what would make me happier: a picture of the item and give the item to someone I know will give it just as much love or keeping the physical item.

My youngest pulls everything out of the bins and takes it back! It is such a struggle & even though she doesnt play with the toys , she still wants to keep them all! Please Sarah, address ways to get your kids on board!

Love the idea of getting rid of things you don't use! I feel like most people are too sentimental or worrisome when it comes to decluttering. I love that you are so involved with your kids that you know exactly which toys they play with! It tells me that you have a super close relationship with them. 🥰

When my son was younger around 2 yo, he really understood the concept of decluttering and he helped and what was surprising to me that he was willing to let go things I thought he liked and he kept some that I would donate.
Thats so sweet! How old is he now? Is he the same way now? I have a 2yr old boy and a 6yr
Eminy Sanz no he is not! Haha he is 4 and all of his toys are precious to him and he won’t let them go. So we try our best not to buy any new.
So glad you showed us the other side of your office. I have been decluttering for about 3 years and it is a struggle. I have to make a conscience effort to keep it up.

Do you keep a few special stuffed animals for the kids that, for example, belonged to a passed grandma or one that had been around since birth. In my opinion, keeping such items is worth it even if they aren't being used because they hold memories and stories. I just want to hear your take on this idea.

Gonna say ive been decluttering my family home which has accumulated since before i was even born and its taken me years and in still not finished its defs something you have to do at least seasonally forever.
Every time I watch another video of yours, I figure out a new piece of how I want to live my life later when I move out of my parents' house... Me and my boyfriend have been together for a year now, and I'm honestly so excited for our house together later on!

Every year I would do this since the kids always got a massive amount of new toys from relatives and I made my boys help to teach the the importance of not only cleaning and decluttering but also giving to others.
This is the first video I see about decluttering an already organised house. Really motivating tho, and respect for doing it all in one day!

I really liked watching this and it makes me want to live in a more minimalist way. My problem though is that I have an hard time letting go of items because of the sentimental value they have. Like for clothes, there are some t-shirts I haven't worn in years, but I just can't let them go because someone I love gave them to me or I bought them in a special situation. And for other items is the same... I really want to be able to have less stuff!
I know I'm the same way but the trick is to not hold onto an item for more than five seconds and once something has been put in the bin to not take it out again. There will always be items you regret getting rid of but a clear tidy space is worth it. 😊 Best of luck.

I think with your minimalism lifestyle those open wooden shelves would look so pretty in your kitchen 😍 Cabinets take up so much space and I think encourage more clutter because all we need to do is shut the doors and not look at it anymore.

I don't understand how so many youtubers can declutter so many spaces in a white or light colored shirt and still look perfect at the end, and I'm over here ruining my white shirt just thinking about it! I gotta learn this "don't spill on yourself" thing! Loved the video and perfect timing! I need to declutter an "out of sight, out of mind" area I've been putting off. I love watching your videos, It reminds me a lot of how my mom raised us, being a young Christian momma who works but always keep in mind what your priorities are, believe me that that will help your babies a lot or at least it helped us a lot while growing up.
My mom also adores you and I think it reminds her a lot of her youth too.
Pro tip from my mom: encourage your kids to don't bother or be annoyed by cleaning too, don't do it all yourself 'cus they'll resist it growing up

After a separation from my ex husband. Me and my now grown up kids moved into my childhood house and mother moved to an apartment. This is 8 years ago and she didn’t bring with her so much and we got stuck with all those plus our own things. Mom passed away 2 years ago and boy have we been decluttering. Not until now we finally have donated,sold and thrown away everything we don’t need. What a satisfying feeling 🥰
