Great video. As a buddhist I would like to add a couple points. It's not only by meditating and getting free from desire that you achieve nirvana, is freeing yourself from the whole tie of unskillful mental states, like ignorance, attachment, aversion, pride and envy. Those states are rooted on ignorance that is the most fundamental, and being ignorant means not seing or acceptings things as they are: impermanent, unsatisfatory (our desire from permanence can't be satisfied) and without essence (meaning without existing by themselves, everything exists in dependence from everything else). That means that we need to see reality as what it is: an interconected, always changing flow interacting with itself, without the possibility of permanence of a fixed state or configuration. So ignorance is really the root of the problem, easing desire is a first step in trying to abtain a more calm mind that is bettter able to see things as they are and then be free from ignorance, but that are other practices/steps aswell such as charity that can help us overcome our self-centeredness. This must be one of my favorite youtube chanels, you talk about physics, deep philosophical questions, like consciousness, life after death and even religion with openness and calm and without tons of biases. @@ArvinAsh It was a good video, but I have one correction. Gods in Buddhism depend on the branch, Theravada (practiced in Thailand, Sri Lanka...) generally don't worship gods, but in Mahayana (practiced in China, Tibet, Japan...) they actually do worship a variety of gods and godesses
Not really. It just needs to be viewed with open awareness .. I, too, thought the Buddhism explanation was lacking, but the raw basics was there.. as far as a general comparison anyway. Speaking as a Catholic I’m not sure there will always be one way. There are so many people dealing with so many different problems in so many different parts of the world. Not all of them have as clear a path or the instant divine wisdom to make it there without reaching any conflict or their own set of personal hurdles. Even in the Bible there were many followers long before Christ and long after, and God didn’t give them all the same path to seek understanding, and not always in the same way Christ did. And in the book of Esther, none of the characters(narrator included) even spoke about or to God, yet the characters were still able to seek their path. So it doesn’t seem to matter what path is chosen or even how devout the people of the world are, anyone can walk in the path of grace, love, and self improvement no matter what God they acknowledge or even if they don’t acknowledge God at all

@@julsshan nice to meet you Julia. I see what you’re saying however when it comes to God in the Bible he doesn’t just seek followers from those that are automatically following him. Often he’ll choose followers that fight him at every turn like the first family(Adam, Eve. And Cain), Jonah, Moses, even the disciples themselves who often doubted, denied, or betrayed Jesus. Hell the original followers were the Israelites, called such after Jacob whose nickname was Israel which meant He who wrestles with God, and Jacob literally fought God. Not to mention the thing about God is he doesn’t wait to influence his children to the path of grace, he’s always there influencing the best of humanity wether we realize it or not, which is embodied by the Holy Spirit which is automatically there within all of us, not just a million, a few, or one of us. God isn’t a genie that we summon when we call him and then he grants us his grace. He’s influencing everyone all the time, no matter who you are and where you are. We’re all his children, and like any father he’s always watching us and influencing us

Maybe, or maybe it’s even darker. Given how multifaceted people are, people have been known to do incredibly cruel things for very base desires. Makes me wonder how many of these atrocities are people who believe or people who just use faith to justify their personal corruption

@@cordes6900 I’d like to believe that just getting rid of the religion would make the cruelty of these individuals in history go away, but if there’s one truth I’ve learned about people is that they could use any ideology to justify toxicity, religious or otherwise, and it would be very unlikely some of these toxic people would be less toxic without their faith. Not to mention many people profess to be people of faith yet often their actions don’t even align with what their supposed to believe. Henry VIII may have founded the Church of England but he only did so after the Clergy refused to give him a divorce and challenged his power. Rodrigo Borgia may have been a pope but not only did he get there by bribing the clergy, but rarely acted like a pope, even having many mistresses even when he’s supposed to be chaste. My point is that you can’t always justify a person’s toxicity to one specific factor as people are often motivated by multiple factors in their life. It just seems unlikely to me

The Buddhist description is off the mark, and relies probably too much on Western misconceptions. Buddhism is essentially about overcoming our ignorance of the true impermanent nature of things, which dissolves our unhealthy attachments and desires and helps us live a life of equanimity and calm. Meditation is just one tool on the Eightfold Path, one whose utility has been overinflated in the West. Most Buddhists worldwide don't even have a meditation practice. It's also an oversimplification to say Buddhism has no deities. For Theravada Buddhism that's probably true, but Mahayana and (especially) Vajrayana are teeming with supernatural beings and realms. For example, Pure Land, the most popular Buddhist sect in Japan, focuses on prayers and petitions to the cosmic Buddha named Amida, in hopes of being reborn into the bliss of his heavenly Pure Land.
Wow, Buddhism actually makes the most sense to me. Because suffering can be caused by the desire to want to do something. For instance, smoking. You want to smoke because it gets you addicted. The addiction causes you to have a desire to smoke, and you suffer because of it. Same goes for things like alcohol and sex and buying expensive things. I'm an atheist, and Buddhism does not believe in a god, rather a person (Buddha) who found the key to prevent suffering. I also like to believe in the past life theory, which states that after death a person is reborn into a new life. Now that I think about it, being constantly reborn could lead to extreme suffering. Shit man, I might consider Buddhism.

Only the believers of the JudeoChristianMuhammedan God likes to fight or rather argue because they live in dualistic reality ( God vs. Satan). Buddhism and Hinduism on the other hand realized that duality as a whole is Unity.
You ask, Why do we keep fighting? Well, as far as I know, Buddhists have never initiated or entered into wars with other religions. So, no “God”, no problem.
Einstein X Yes, but Japanese reasons for entering WWII had nothing to do with religion. More explicitly, the Zen Buddhist of Japan did not enter WWII to push Buddha as the only true God like it’s been done for countless centuries between Christianity, Judaism, and the Muslim religions. Buddhism has no deity and thusly nothing to go to war in that respect.
Arvin Ash militant Buddhists but not for the purpose of showing that Buddha is the true God. In fact, any Buddhist sect that thinks that the historic Buddha was a god needs to study its own religion a little better.

You wallpapered over the fundamental essence that Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, and Christianity (Gnosticism) have in common which is the internal transformation towards enlightenment. Islam does not have this. Islam is conformity and subjugation.
I think many Muslims might disagree with that. There is Sufism. And some might argue that the practice is Islam is nothing but a process of internal transformation. But let's take it one step further, and ask the question, "What is the purpose of religious enlightenment?" At its core, all the religions are concerned about what happens to us after we die, or specifically what happens to our souls. Do we suffer for eternity or do we get a reprieve? All five religions say essentially, "you will get a reprieve after death if you follow my teachings."
@@ArvinAsh Sufism is not written in the Quran. I am referring to their scriptures and the Quran is all about external behaviour and practices. We fight for the same reason that any animal fights. Control of resources or territory. Religions are ultimately exclusivist groups formed for mutual benefit and protection. The core concept of all Abrahamic religions christianity, judaism and islam are same, there is one creator who always existed
and god created humans with sin, torturing them forever in hell eternally -- unless the they beleive something rediculous, or they burn in hell for ever, because he is a loving god.
What he said. And mono theism was just the latest trend which is still held up. Before monotheism there was polytheism which was the belief in many God's, Greek mythology etc. During the transition from polytheism to monotheism the old "war God" "Yalledebeyo" was RENAMED YAWEH

Why only Humans needs Religions? Why not the Planets, Stars, Galaxy, Animals, Aliens, etc? 🤔

Because humans are the inventors of religion not a GOD
Because humans has a thirst for meaning unlike animals and robots who are programmed to survive or whatever code or instincts they have. We are super conscious. Or metaphorically we have soul.

Good job for the amount of time the video was. Though I would say that you should have skipped hinduism and especially buddhism since they are extremely complex in their nature. The video lays a ground for misunderstanding about those 2 religions.
The video, hopefully, lays a groundwork for understanding these religions. There will always be misunderstanding by people who know nothing about them. But if they have 6 minutes, they can at least know something.
All 5 religions do teach different things about how a person can be saved..it's 5 different worldviews ..And only one of them can be right. Or all can be false..But it can never be that all of them are right! Though it seems like all of them show way to God...there is only one of these ways wich is correct . Thanks for reading this.

@@johnmartin4119 not really, Hinduism and Judaism are open towards others having their truths. Bhudism a bit less, Islam less and Christianity most strickt about their won truth
When I was in the military I had seen soldiers fall over due to dehydration during Ramadan, they were given IV fluids and ordered to drink liters of water, this was before sundown, they were ordered to consume a minimum amount of water each day under threat of article 15. What would Islam have to say about that?

Religion fundamentally means receiving reward without reasoning. So they all fight within the religion and also outside their religion.

All is one, which explains alot too, like synchronicities
Buddhism is a chapter or a branch that comes out of Hinduism. It’s not different at all.

Although violence is forbidden in Buddhism, we humans always find a way to fight. There are are militant Buddhists in Myanmar and Sri Lanka.
Buddhism is the second religion in Japan after Shinto. According to my history books Japan wasn't the nicest of countries during World War II.
