    *IMPORTANT* : *I didn't mean to, but perhaps was, biased in saying that the Balkans **_suffered_** from Ottoman occupation, while South America and others were **_influenced_** by European occupation. It wasn't at all my intention differentiate between the two and have one seen as good and the other as bad, so I'm sorry if you were offended by this* .
    Additional mistakes in the video:
    At 13:17 - The top 10 CATHOLIC should be CHRISTIAN instead - Greece, Romania and others are ORTHODOX, not CATHOLIC.
    At 10:50 - Norway, not Sweden.
    Sorry for any other mistakes!

      If I'm correct originally they mainly went to the North, which is now North Korea, but after DPRK became a country and outlawed religion many Christians fled south, and much of the mission work followed them. An upward of 300,000 Christians are thought to still live in North Korea still, but the exact number is unknown and likely way off.

    Hello friend,
    There a mistake you made about Hinduism in 7:57 Hinduism is not a Polytheist religion, it's a Henothiest religion which means we pray to multiple Gods and Goddesses but the source of all the gods and goddesses is one ultimate entity called Bramhan or Bramhun who's the ultimate soul of universe and is an genderless divine entity and we worship them indirectly though our gods and goddesses. So Hinduism in a way is Polytheistic a bit but a monotheistic religion as well. That's why it's called a Henothiestic religion. Kindly correct it next time.
    Thank you

    As an atheist, I personally found this video really interesting! There are a ton of religions in the world, and while I don't believe in any of them, I think they're still interesting to learn about in general.
    Edit: I know this probably won't help, but as a blanket statement, I am not looking for a religion and am perfectly happy without one. Everyone can practice whatever belief they want to, I'm just personally not interested in joining any of them

      @Ruby Heart Well there's a lot of reasons, some of which include having a proper, unbiased education on various religions and evolution, but the main reasons are that I simply don't see any reason to believe. More than 3,000 gods have been worshipped throughout human history, and I guarantee you that the followers of those religions believed in it just as much as Christians do. The odds of the Abrahamic god being the real one is lower than the odds of randomly finding a shiny pokemon. Even if we assume Christianity is the true religion, that god is the one who treats their followers like an abuser, and will willingly send someone to eternal damnation for not believing, believing in one of the many other world religions, or just for being LGBT. You could be the most genuine, kind person on the planet, and still be punished for simply not believing. That's an evil, narcissistic deity, and I would definitely rather go to Hell than worship them.

    • @linslay2003
      @linslay2003 2 года назад +2

      @Ruby Heart Most of the stories I've heard about people having bad experiences with religion have come from former Christians. I still respect the religion and anyone who wants to follow it, as long as they don't use that religion to harm anyone (which I've seen and heard about a lot of so-called "Christians" doing).

    The reason why Japan has so many as "non-religious" is because if you ask a typical Japanese if they are Shinto, they say yes. If you ask them if they are Buddhist, they say yes. If you ask them which religion they follow, they say none.
    And for countries like Czechia or China it comes mainly from communist/socialist ideas. The same is also true of east germany, where the majority declare no religious affiliation to this day.

    • @slouberiee
      @slouberiee 2 года назад +2

      Interesting thing is that countries in Eastern Europe which had all about the same time of communist party regime (40 years), many are highly religious - Poland, Slovakia etc. and some are very atheistic so I doubt there is straight correlation between communism and atheism.
      I'm Czech so from my point of view we were actually never that much religious, even before communist party rule. Also the religion was often used as another way to rule us by the Austrian keisers (we were part of the Austrian empire for 400 years), so religion was seen just as another thing we had to bend our knees to, nothing that was really "our".

    Speaking for myself, I was raised Catholic and identify "culturally" most closely with Catholicism, but I did a lot of study in religions during my early adulthood and found that, at a fundamental level, I agree most with the Mahayana philosphies of Buddhism. I attended services at a Buddhist temple a few times and, while I genuinely appreciated them, I still found myself relating more to the ritual of Catholic mass and identifying with the various patron saints in different situations. Even still, I place most of my faith in what has been dubbed "secular humanism". Spiritually, I identify as a skeptical agnostic who practices Buddhism through the lens of Catholicism. (I often sit through mass wondering how Buddha would interpret the scripture and sermons and come to my own conclusions.) Catholicism is "what I know", but Buddhist philosophy is what I use to measure veracity, morality, and ethic. Intellectually and ultimately, I acknowledge that I'm truly a secularist who understands, appreciates, and willingly engages in the ethical, philosophical and theological trappings of religion. To borrow a trope from the TV series "X-Files", I want to believe... that there are multiple, maybe infinite paths, to enlightenment, the ideal afterlife, AND a more harmonious future for humanity but the end result of the life pursuit should be the same: doing what I can to make tomorrow better for those fortunate enough to encounter it.

      More and more people are combining Buddhism with their own religious traditions -there are even Jewish Buddhists.I have no doubt that Christianity was influenced by Buddhism back in ancient times especially if you look at monasticism which is common to both traditions and the fact that early Christians(not later ones) were pacifists.In Italy,where i am from originally,many migrants from Hindu and Buddhist backgrounds actually attend Catholic religious festivals in honor of Catholic saints as they see these saints as manifestations in Italy of their own deities and saints.Most Catholic priests are O.K. with this.

Earlier, Iranians too followed vedas and daevas (or devas in sanskrit) ,but their prophet Zoroaster found his own religion Zoroastrianism and convinced Iranians that daevas were killed by Ahura Mazda and Iranians should not follow Vedas or Gathas (Gatha Upnishad version in India) .But around 8th century Iran was so much influenced by arabs that they stopped speaking Avastan which is 99% similar to sanskrit and instead they have made Arabic like language and started calling it Persian.

    Norway is very special because it highly depends on what part of the country you live in. Western, South-Western and Northern Norway is very Christian. South-Eastern, and Central is very non-religious. Depending on which one of these parts in Norway you live, you will either feel that Norway is ultra Christian or ultra non-religious. A good geographical rule of thumb is this: The closer you are to Sweden, the more non-religious your part of the country is

    Sikhism follows Gurus who say there is one God and everyone worships him in their own form and faith.

    Also I am a Hindu and I worship at GURUDWARAS, TEMPLES, MOSQUES AND EVEN IN CHURCH,
    ALL FOUR WITHIN 2 KM RADIUS OF MY HOME.
    AND EACH PLACE HAS THEIR OWN IMPORTANCE FOR US.
