My hair damage story is that I use to sleep on a lace blanket. I thought the blanket was soo pretty. That lace took out the left side of my hair. Took awhile before I caught on that the "cute" blanket was damaging my hair. Your client's hair came out gorgeous!!

My damage was curling dirty hair, relaxing way too often and wearing tight weaves for a decade straight. My hair is probably the healthiest it has ever been today and I am so glad I still have some! I got knowledge and with that came the health and the length. Great job as always.

My story as a hairstylist and woman of color is just about the same except mine was with the flat iron. We always preach that we need to use heat protection and not to put heat on our hair daily, but we don't always practice it. Up until I cut my hair in 2019, I was frying my poor strands to make my bob look glam. I got tired of it and now I rock the very short pixie hair cut. I'm loving the short cut in my 40's now.

Around 10th grade my stylist suggested getting a doobie (roller set and wrap) instead of blow dry and flat iron. I still wanted her to flat iron the hair after taking out the rollers, wrapping it and sitting me back under the dryer 🥴 but I stopped with the daily flat iron and I started retaining a lot of length again

  • @LadyPantera57

I've had long hair all of my life and recently I cut my hair down to a #2 guard on the clippers. It's something I wanted to try at least once, but one of my other motivations was to get a fresh start with my hair. My first straightening treatment was when I was 12 and I've been doing terrible things to my hair ever since. My blow dryer and paddle brush were the tools that I used pretty much every day, even if I hadn't washed my hair, just so it would be as straight as possible. The Freeman straight hair spray was one of my short-lived favorites because it took so much less time straighten my hair, though the finish wasn't as shiny and felt a little weird. I still wonder what kind of witchcraft was going on in that bottle.
Nearly four months after the big chop, my hair feels thick in a way that I didn't know it could. I'm going to treat my hair well and not use any heat or oxidative dyes and I'm excited to get to know my hair as it grows out.

Love your videos and love that you use the RevAir! I got mine this past Christmas and used it for the first time a few weeks ago. I’m still getting use to using it, but it definitely help dry my hair faster than using a regular blow dryer AND my arms weren’t killing me 😂
My story about my hair: when I was younger (youth to mid-20s) I use to depend on the hair salon for everything! I’d get my hair done every 2 weeks like clockwork, but didn’t really take care of my hair in between appointments. Of course I wore satin bonnets and slept on a satin pillowcase, but no one actually taught me how to moisturize and seal my hair. I didn’t learn any of that until about 2 years ago. I didn’t know about how sectioning my hair would make wash days easier or that heat protectant was a thing! I had so much to learn 🤦🏾‍♀️ Somehow my hair survived through it all and thankfully my hair is flourishing now.

I remember having a curl mines in nose micro curls every morning getting up at 5am turning on the curling iron every morning. To make them stay nice and tight sometimes I might skip a day but to make a new one fresh-looking ya gets pretty hot tired of it. Don't think I would do that to myself again 🥴💯💯👀🤦🏻‍♀️ when you're young you can do a lot of great things. I'm to you learn not to damage your hair the hard way.

I really love her kind language and commentary. A hair expert who doesn't judge, accepts where people are and is glad to meet them there, while teaching them how to apply best care practices. Wish I had access to real, empathetic, talented people like this in Holland. (I miss being home in North America 🇨🇦)

My damaging story is back in the 90's (7th grade) I was using the Gold N' Hot Crimping iron with the spritz ( the kind that smells like a skunk) my hair would be fried to the crisp and I thought I was doing something my hair was so stiff and dry it all fell out... the first sign was my hair began to get lighter in color, light a dusty brown color that's because I was literally frying It off. On top of that I went through a phase where I was dying ONLY my bang honey BLONDE until one day I didn't have enough bangs to cover my forehead

Hey Kiki!! I always enjoy your videos and hearing your stories! They always bring me back. 😂😂 I didn’t put the flat iron in my hair every morning bc I didn’t have time bf school. My sister and I used to have to run so we wouldn’t miss our bus… 😂 but I did put the flat iron in my hair a lot bc I wanted my hair to look perfect and at the time I was relaxed. I thank God for my sister though bc she was the one who encouraged me to go natural. This was two years after I had had my baby girl who’s now ten. And, after watching certain videos about women with natural hair/curls, I grew to love my natural curls. Although I do want my hair straight sometimes but I know that it will be temporary bc I am natural now. Anyway, I just wanted to say that. Her hair looks very pretty…nice and bouncy.
