It's April-1-2020. Locked down in home. Watched this with my entire family and none of them played the game. Explained as many rallies as possible. To my shock they not only understood but re-watched it again and again for another hour with lot of discussions and arguments. Best time I ever had ☺️

How did I miss this match before? Both are so powerful, precise, tactical, fast and agile. In all, you have to be serious to really understand the reasons behind it. Footwork and angles are unreal. One of the best matches ever seen. Doesn't matter who wins....they are both great legends.
If someone don't fall in love with Table Tennis after watching this, that person is not meant to love sport in any form. Probably the best match ever.

It's 2018 now, and you can still smell their desire for winning. Look at their agility! Look at the crazy speed of the ball! Look at the lightening speed forehand counter drive of Ma Long! Look at the gross chiquita of Zhang Jike! Like chess, the greatest match in table tennis history will only be created by two legends "at their prime". We are so lucky to witness this miracle match, It's like we are watching 90 Michael Jordan vs.06 Kobe Bryant or 12 LeBron James. THE BEST TT MATCH, no question about it!
Everyone knows Ma Long prime was 2015-2016. This was ZJK's prime against Ma Long 4 years before his prime.
two masters of their realm giving absolutely everything they got...a real pleasure to watch. Too bad it can only be appreciated by people who play the sport....

Can't be the greatest match of all time for the simple reason it took place at the ''Austrian Open''.Nothing was at stake,it was quite similar to a practice match actually.

Also yes it is one of the greatest matches of all time regarding technique those guys are basically perfect. Other contenders are MLvFZD 2017 WTTC or 2020 WC. Or 2014 Asian games Ma long vs Joo se Hyuk (if you like attacker vs chopper this is the greatest match of all time)
@@yeagerist977The ''Austrian Open'' holds little value for the Chinese.Took place in September 2011 well after the 2011 WTTC,during the off season.
In terms of shot making there are certainly some more dynamic duos like the Xu Xin - Wang Hao rivalry which comprises of more contrasting styles,better use of angles and touch shots.Joo se Hyuk was far past his prime in 2014 suffering from autoimmune disorder.
Obviously the best game of defense versus offense would be the 2003 WTTC final simply because of the significance of the match.In terms of actuall shotmaking Waldner's return in 2003 after a 9 month hiatus to demolish Joo se Hyuk takes the cake.

This is what TT should be! Two legends in one legendary match. A match combined everything - raw power, pure technique, inhumane agility n flexibility. What else one could ask for a TT match!
This match slovenian open 2012, world cup 2014, german open 2015 and the pro tour grand finals semi final 2009 (ttcountenance again) are probably the greatest matches. I believe most people relate to this match cause it was the first nail bitting final with comebacks from both sides that would show what was about to follow between these two players. Some trials matches on 2010, 2013,2014 and 2016 are also fantastic
I LOVE IT when Zhang and Ma are competitive for certain matches,they put up a extremely entertaining and exciting match.I was hoping that Ma Long would win cos he seems so wanting to win this match.

I watch this match again and again. The tennis was so beautiful, dynamic, powerful with long, open exchanges.
Their powerful grunts after winning the points though. Shows the immense intensity in the air and simultaneous confidence of them both.

One of the greatest matches of all time. Both players are Grand Slam winners (World Cup Winner + Olympic Champion + World Champion). There have only been 5 Grand Slam winners in the history of table tennis and here you have two of them playing against each other in this match. Two of the greatest players of all time, one of the greatest matches of all time
The quality these 2 athletes showed in this match was incredible. It's like they were playing a training match back home in China with no fear.

The real game comes when the two greatest players play the game. This game is at a different level.
Right now, people consider Fzd to be the only player that stand a chance against ML. But, Fzd vs ML is no where near the rivalry between Zjk and ML back then.
Q Pham That is because FZD never beats ML, while ZJK did beat ML several times.
You could never forget Wang Hao when discussing the rivalry of Ma Long & Zhang Jike.

They are both olympic champions , Zhang Jike in 2012, Ma Long in 2016. And they are both Gand-slam players. This match is so Unblievable !
I prefer this one to their 2014 Men' s World Cup final in which the stupid new ball has been used. Here we can see more powerful shots and longer rallies.

@@scottwarren4998 yep new balls, the balls were changed to a slightly larger size (to make them slower). Many would argue that it was a way to stop the chinese because the way the chinese played was too fast for most others

if only every match could be exciting like this. instead of every rally ending in 2-3 shots
kata A rally doesn‘t have to be long, to be exciting. I can really enjoy short rallies as well, since they show the decision-making of each player.
Every time I watch this match, I always feel like ZJK and ML had some sort of agreement beforehand - no looping down the line.
If you see them playing with other players they always change the direction of the ball from diagonal to straight line (which is super powerful and always comes unexpected), but not those two people. It feels like a dare contest, I dare you to never loop down the line, and I'll do the same. Let's do the exact same thing as we always do when we train together and let the person with most stability/precision win.
