Every delivery job like this should come with a helper daily and they should be given some type of training just in case the driver has an emergency. The driver would be able to at least have some familiarity with driving and that could come in handy. Each truck should also have a let's be real here that would help out tremendously. These food companies make way too much money to not have these basic things that will help out their drivers.
@@sidneyportier4446 sounds like you have a good amount of experience to do that. The most I’ve had is 19. Any tips on breaking down pallets with no room in a pup?
At Us Foods, atleast in my division we only have ramps and tri-fold doors. 95% of the time don’t even have room for a luggage carrier, as my route is consistently packed to the very end of the trailer. Gotta throw the Dollie’s on top however I can 😅

For the most part they always send someone to help. The only guys who usually don’t get help are the guys that have time in where maybe they should be adjusted to their particular route.

@@shiftautomotive854 there’s a few kind of boxes that are heavy. Beef, and some chicken. The issue comes into play when you have to dig in a pallet and pull any box from the bottom without breaking down the entire pallet.
U-boats are typically given to guys who have a route unless you get one yourself and some trailers have liftgate some have ramps since I’m new most of the trailers only have ramps
I noticed you mentioned "breaking down the truck correctly", what happens if you don't/didn't and still have some packages in your truck from that stop?
If you don’t break down your truck correctly it’s just going to take all day looking for the correct package for the correct stop instead of having all of them together. But if you have a package from a previous stop you just have to deliver it at the end of the day. It’s just all about being efficient with your time.
you need a class A cdl in order to drive the trucks, some companies train you within for free so you dont have to go through the trouble in paying to take a course
Well I don’t have a route yet I’m usually helping someone. So can’t tell you what’s the average I’m not looking at numbers just rolling things in. Rough guess someone could average 600 cases
Been doing this for 10years. I love the work but it's hard on your body for sure.
Some of the best lessons are permanently learned through mistakes!
Just take it day by day it will get bettet
