Welcome To The Show is an anthem about facing exactly who you are and OWNING it. Its intended as a mantra to inspire strength and PRIDE. After recording the song a few months ago, I felt very compelled to create a video to further communicate it’s meaning.
I notice such diversity in my audiences when I’m on tour: Young, old, male, female, Trans, Gay, Straight, White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, and every beautiful in-between. The common bond is that they are all HUMAN BEINGS. No matter how we identify, the human heart has a universal set of emotions and needs. Sure it’s idealistic, but couldn’t we be recognizing our similarities, instead of our differences? It all comes down to Identity. We as a society are obsessed with how to classify and define each person. There are new labels invented monthly for how to describe new “types”. In some cases, these labels are needed to empower us and give us clarity, but it seems that at some point, all the categorizing can become quite divisive. I’ve seen so many people trapped by the identity they put so much effort into maintaining, or shunned by choosing not to. I have fallen into that trap myself. True Individuality seems daunting in our age of social media popularity contests. Sometimes it’s terrifying to face your true, whole self, stripped of any pretense. The good, the bad, the cracks, and the scars. I am no stranger to the feeling of not liking myself. Once I get past my own body image issues, I realize that I sometimes also neglect my own spirit. Living in a world filled with so much hatred sometimes makes cultivating self-love a very difficult task. I have always struggled with this as I’m sure many of you have. My path is a kind of paradox in that I get to share my craft with the world, but also be willing to throw myself to the wolves. To dare to be different, but still wanting to be accepted. There is vast beauty to be found in life’s contradictions. This non-binary reality allows us to lead happy, expressive lives, and yet this very freedom comes with great risks. I’m not alone in this limbo. Through my art, I pledge to bring empathy and courage to anyone who has been made to feel unworthy or ashamed while daring to be themselves.
This is the first time I’ve produced my own music video. With the help of my friend and long- time collaborator Lee Cherry, we set out to co-direct something notably honest. I spoke with Laleh (the brilliant songwriter who is featured on the song) and we agreed on the vulnerability we wanted captured on screen. I think the more we as artists share ourselves openly, the more someone out there may feel inspired to do the same. I also felt a strong feeling of empowerment in creating this video independent of the label system. It was time to shoot this one on my own. This video isn’t about selling a song, or product placement, or racking up viral views. This is intended simply as a creative expression. What resulted on set came from a very free and organic headspace that allowed me to connect with the camera as if it were each person who’s supported me over the last 7 years. This video is a thank you to all of you who have lined up to see the Original High World Tour. To everyone who has listened and shared my songs and given me the purpose to keep moving forward. It’s a thank you to all of you who choose to accept and Love who YOU are! We hold each other up! I want you to keep celebrating exactly who you are, even if you don’t fit into the worlds ideas of what they think you should be. Take your flaws in stride, nurture your talents, take pride in your Queerness, and share all the love you have. - Adam Lambert

I've been a fan of Adam since I was nine years old (the time he was on American Idol) through these years I have listened to his music and no matter the genres he chooses or the lyrics he writes. One thing stays the same, it's his passion and his honesty. When you hear him talk he puts so much emotion and thought into what he wants to communicate to his fans.

This video is like my synesthesia. The only differences I see fireworks with electrified threads of color and static noises that makes my nerves tingle on my neck and behind my ears. The inside of my ears are vibrating with the vocals. I can taste the sweetness and sour with spicy tang at the end of each word. As if millions of stars are bursting on my tongue leaving a unique flavor and textures. It's beautiful. ❤️

Adam did an incredible job on Cher’s song “Believe.” He originally was given a list if songs on American Idol one week and didn’t have interest in any of them. So he asked if he could see the lists for the women for that week, and at first was told ‘their songs are in a much higher key.’ In true Adam Lambert style he stated that the key didn’t matter. He saw Cher’s song ‘Believe’. And asked if he could do it as nobody else picked it. They gave it to him, he put his own spin on it to make it more like ‘him’ at that time for the week they were doing. Adam NAILED it! When The Kennedy Center has its tribute to Cher, Adam was invited and specifically asked to sing that song. Cher was so moved by the arrangement, she actually shed some tears listening to Adam sing it. Adam Lambert could put a trash bag on and sing the “ABC’s” and it would be amazing! His tone, his range ability is endless. He’s spot on in everything that he does. Congratulations Adam, you’ve come a long way baby! I can’t wait to see you in person preforming. I agree. And I also feel that so many other songs of Adam’s deserved to be big hits as well. He has some really great songs in his music catalogue. I don’t think his former record companies promoted him properly, if at all. It’s a shame. A vocalist of his caliber should have made mega super stardom in this country.

Aftermath is inspiring, a beautiful, thoughtful song, There is always hope & never quit is what I've always told my kids & it's served us well. Adam is a beautiful example of never giving anyone the power to devalue you, always being proud of who you are. If we were all exactly alike, just think of how boring it would be.

I read the description and Adam Lambert I totally agree with you. we all suffer because we're told to be someone else other than our true selves and I think that's why this world is going in the direction it is. for that very reason. if everyone were to be their true selves 100% all of the time, I think it would be easier for people to love and be more open to one another and the universe around us like a sort of collective consciousness of peace and harmony with one another and with the universe. which has no boundaries or walls or impossibility,s. cause if the universe is boundless why should we as humans have to be bound.

He doesn't tell you what to do, he gives you the strength and the courage to fight to be yourself. He opens up about his body issues and has fought hard to get to where he is. I;ve only recently token interested in Adam Lambert music. I am totally a ALL country music girl(don't judge), cuz of growing up on ranch. but I confess I'm sooooooo impress w Adam, his voce ranch and voice control is amazing. You can tell he take pride in his work, yet humble in many ways! When I listen to a singer I look for their life story and how it reflects in that person and their music. I can honestly yes I like your music Adam and your voice. but I also mostly admire your life experiences and they've weather the storm yet they haven't broken you. How did you discover Adam?
my niece knows i'm kinda picky when it comes to music, but one night she said, hey I got someone you should listen too, and don't judge tell you at lest listen....so I did! The first song played was "another lonely night" she knew the words would catch my ear... that was in dec. In feb she show'd the parts he played in Glee. since than I've explored more into him and listen.
Well, I am very happy you've discovered him. I hope you can see him live because it blows away any recording. Hearing him live I am in disbelief that there is someone who actually sounds like that. It doesn't seem real.
