Adam can not only hit the high notes but he hits them and maintains them with such strength and volume. The control he has over his vocals is just amazing, he's one of a kind.

I saw him a few days ago with queen, he held a high note for over 14 seconds and it shocked me, I knew he was amazing but hearing it live was other worldly
He's using mixed voice all the while, having those high notes with their undertones resonating throughout his thoracic cavity. Even with quality headphones, we're not getting the full range of tones. I'd love to witness him live.
Adam Lambert's range is from the lowest to the highest note of a guitar...his record in holding a note is 21seconds. Check him out as Joshua on The Ten Commandments and as Charlie on Brigadoon..both live on stage.. ages 22 and 24.
@bean2570 Absolutely, he is a much better Queen than Freddy! Freddy sang his own music and didn't have to impersonate anyone.
Saw Adam last year performing with Queen and his voice was incredible! Possibly one of the most talented singers to ever come out of any of these talent shows.

Agreed I saw them the first year he was with Queen and he was outstanding.
I would say THE best. In terms of voice, and performance, and I don't know, just his AURA! Top three at the very least. Someone told me that Adam Lambert "destroyed his career" when he kissed a man onstage, and that's why he joined Queen. None of the people who were bothered by that would be his fans anyway, so I have my doubts. Other artists, both male and female, have been doing sexy stuff onstage forever, after all.

There was Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, Jennifer Hudson, Scotty McCreery, Kelly and Adam they were all my favorites of AI!
Lambert's vocals are just out of this world. The amount of control he has over his wide vocal range is bizarre. And to be able to maintain, and even better his voice at such healthy levels despite common cases of vocal overuse in the showbiz shows how much dedication he has to his craft. Simon must feel so damn proud seeing Adam up there and all the success he has achieved over the years.
I often wonder how much he even lets himself talk offstage, as much singing as he does between performances with Queen and his own tours. And of course he's also still recording in the studio and doing interviews, plus guest appearances here and there...like, if it were me I'd have to start learning sign language or something.

@@altagatoI watched that season from beginning to end and Simon did say that at his very first audition but during Hollywood week he changed his mind. When they were at about the top 10 when Adam sang Tracks Of My Tears, Simon said that he was a star. So Simon was wrong at first but quickly realized it and always accepted him for who he was and rarely had any criticism after the first audition. At one point later on Randy commented that one was a bit theatrical and Simon laughed and said "that's what he is, that's like complaining that a cow moos' 😂 I freaking love Adam lol

That was impressive AF. I love Adam Lambert and saw him in concert with Queen at the Park Theater in Las Vegas September 5, 2018 with my husband. Best concert ever! And having that contestant doing an aerial act over his head was off the charts!
Saw them in twice, in 2017 and on 2023 in NYC. Absolutely amazing, the best of the best. ❤

I knew Adam's performance was going to be amazing, but he's also an outstanding choreographer.. and those acrobats were the perfect accompaniment to his singing! It's also great to hear Simon say how Adam is--he doesn't deserve the haters!

Adam is the best thing to come out of any talent competition show. His voice never ceases to amaze me. The fact that he did not win American Idol still shocks me to this day. I do not even remember the name of the guy who won. Also was the last year I watched American Idol. It seemed to me and many others that the votes were changed to fit what they wanted the American Idol to be Adam did not fit their criteria of their image of the Idol
Kris Allen won. I have no clue where he is, if he still sings, what he does with his life, idk. But I will never forget the name of the guy that America thought deserved this more than Adam Lambert, cause it's pure stupidity.
I would argue that Kelly Clarkson has him beat, but that's just me.
Also Simon Cowell voted "No!" for Adam Lambert on American Idol as well.
@@jackal242 I disagree. I just watched his audition and Simoin said he was theatrical but def gave him a yes. And was a huge supporter of his as were the other judges especially Paula during his time on the show. We can not argue with Simon he is most definitely theatrical but that is what has gotten him to where he is

Simon's eyes looked a little watery there when the performance ended. He's extremely proud of Adam, how he has grown into a star over the years.

I still can't believe he didn't win Idol, but he obviously didn't need to win. He is such an incredible singer and performer, both alone and with Queen.
He would never have fit with the AI model after a win. He did much better going on his own path.
It was actually better that he didn't win Idol. The people who win the American Idol comp. are in lock-tight contracts for years after they win. Because he wasn't a winner, he got to go further faster, and @sarah is right. He never could have fit the cookie cutter image they where looking for.

Just look at how small he keeps himself here. Even in his Idol days, he was never a spotlight hog; he was always interacting with the backup singers or the band. He could easily have stolen the show from the other two acts here. He's a real showman and has.a huge stage presence; he could've had that crowd eating out of the palm of his hand and forgetting about the other four people there. This is the most subdued I've ever seen him on an upbeat song like this. And what can I say about his voice that hasn't already been said?
You know, I kind of wish I could know what Simon would have said as a judge if Adam brought this as a contestant on the show, though!
