@EB800_ sorry, new youtube bug(at least i had it twice), your comment showed on and completely different video for me. I now understand. Sorry i had to take your time for something like this.
I think that's what the 'groups' section is for; in an instance, go to the instance's settings and enter a new group name, when creating the new group it will show that group separately from your ungrouped instances. If you have a per say a "daily driver" group with your modpacks you play more often than others then that group will show separately from lets say, your "horror" group.
I hope friends system gets expanded, it would be sick if you could download the pack your friend was using if they turned on a setting and you could see what they were doing, also want modernity profile in the app
I think I'll stick with the PrismLauncher because it's a little more simple in the ways I like. You can more easily sort your instances with custom icons and groups, plus it handles updating modpacks and individual mods pretty easily, plus it also works with CurseForge just as easily as Modrinth. CurseForge isn't as good lol, but it's good for the launcher to handle multiple mod platforms seamlessly because some mods are on one platform but not the other.
@CNWPlayer actually it probably could. PrismLauncher supports adding instances to your desktop as their own icons. Idk how to make it connect you to a server automatically, but you could avoid opening PrismLauncher every time by making a desktop shortcut for your instance. Then you can get right into it instantly
I wished they added a feature where you could run a fabric server on the launcher itself instead of downloading other .jar files to run a server just for your family that are on the same local network
As a developer I always laugh at users who are like "ok now maintain two entirely different versions of your program because I don't like change" I bet if modrinth released like this, and then went to the older design, people would hate the older design because its different :) Now give it two weeks and it'll be "oh yeah it looked different in the past, I forgot about that"
Can you please make a tutorial how to make a login system for premium and cracked Minecraft users for a server. The premium user shouldn't have to do something like /register or /login, the cracked users should. If you make this, can you please also explain it for Bungeecord?
I'm not a huge fan of the new version. Everything seems really small and it's a lot harder now to tell what is disabled and enabled in a modpack. At least they readded the back and forward buttons. Looks like they've changed the disable toggle back to the old one.
I do like it, but I will stay on Prism bcz I had one random mod on my modpack that just broke the entire app. And since then, I also started using Curseforge mods. And also for some other stuff
Sometimes you want to see Fabric mods in a (Neo)Forge instance because of Sinytra Connector. I kinda wish launchers would show Fabric mods when Connector is installed.
It's still bad that when you click a mod and go back it resets the position where u were on that page or if u check filters they get disabled after hitting return from a mod's page.
I quiet like the update. Everything seems more sereus and professional now. The one thing that annoys me the most is the menu on the right. It just looks kinda out of plae and it would be much cleaner if they would implement the content, located in the menu, somewhere else. Other than that, there is not much to hate, of course there are some small Bugs, like the Instants Start button overlapping the Instanticon, but i think they will be fixed soon, so overoul I realy like this Update and I hope Modrinth keeps improving their app. Edit: For some reason they still havent fixed the Modrinth accout login ( At least it does not work on my Modrinth
It's awesome, but it broke on my system. It checks for updates on startup, downloads them, then crashes when trying to install them. Idk if it's my system or the AUR package, but it's annoying to have to disable wifi to launch it.
So.... did they get rid of the option to modify and configure a modpack individualy? I can no longer find a way to set up memory usage for a modpack. Edit: I found it.
All of it feels so stuffed together and inconvenient now. Buttons were also replaced with slightly smaller or less intuitively placed versions. Not a fan of this overall. However, the filter option-overhaul is great.
Seems to lack "saved projects" (favorites). So not really useful atm, since I still have to bounce back and forth between the website when making changes.
So overall I really like Modrinth but there is one little thing that is bugging me, being able to change your skin. I want to be able to change my skin but the only way to do it is through the minecraft launcher and Modrinth doesnt open it up once you launch a modpack that you have. Does anyone know how to fix this?
You can indeed not do this in the Modrinth launcher. If you want to change your skin, you can do it in the vanilla launcher and it will than apply across your whole account. Or you can simply go to minecraft.net and change your skin there.
It looks better but for me it's really laggy. Not the game, just the launcher. No idea what they changed in the backed but something's not working right. EDIT. so after a few tests I found out why. It seems the app really doesn't like using my dedicated GPU. If I use the integrated one it runs perfectly but it will also run Minecraft on the iGPU and that's bad. If I use my dedicated GPU, Minecraft runs fine, but the apps lags a lot.
this kinda sucks really bad. At least in the settings you can scroll to the bottom of appearance and have the sidebar hidden. Of course now you cant see which account you are using immediatly, but that probably wont matter to most users. You can also change your landing page in the above settings and set it to library, a place where they still show you what version youre playing, and what modloader youre using. However it does NOT sort your instances by last played, which sucks big time. I wish there was a way to go back completely without breaking everything :(
Hey kasaisora, i've been wondering to ask if you could make a video about a tokens plugin huge servers use? & how to use them as for crates or other things, Thank you and keep up the great content!
I'm honestly so confused why people are saying it's clean, like the original was already clean Don't get me wrong, I'm a web designer and I usually support these website makeovers, but the original was already clean, the new one just broke so many design principles (filters are universally agreed upon to be on the left)
I have very mixed feelings. Some things I like much more some I feel are a major downgrade in the UI. The filters whilesearching for mods I feel were made less convenient and navigating backwards I also feel was made less accessible. Also I've never seen a filter system on the right. Always the left or top. OH! And the scroll bar! I feel its too thin! Generally I prefer the previous version but also I can get over it.
for me its probably just another electron based launcher that eats ram like lunar launcher, so multimc and its forks still take the w at being the best
I kinda miss the old profile icon
@언노운04 yeah having that massive icon/drop-down seems unnecessarily large
Its clean but they should add favorites to instances
wdym?
@@derikhans that they should make it so you can choose wich instances you want to show on top

I wish I could hide the news and friends tabs. They're cool to have there, but they take up space. Other than that, it looks nice.
You can disable it in settings -> appearance
I agree that being able to hide it would be great. And the big ad at the bottom makes the right side bar kinda… awkward
you can do that in settings
you can do that i just found out
Settings -> apperance tab -> toggle sidebar

@@WaveSmash Yeah I agreee
Yes PrismLauncher is sigma
Modrinth is really impressive on how easy it is to use now though. It should become every beginners mod launcher
With Prism I just click the icon, click "Play", wait 15 seconds, and I'm in a server. *Literally* could not get any simpler.
@CNWPlayer actually it probably could. PrismLauncher supports adding instances to your desktop as their own icons. It definitely surpassed it in Ads, however, both launchers have their own UX issues

@@Talking__Ben that cause your are in a rolling release distribution in your case arch linux, it is not the modrinth fault
@xgui4-studios I think it was an issue caused by the package being an appimage. I updated the AUR package and it works fine now.
It didn't look like a revamp it just seemed like an upgrade to the original
They had ads before and CurseForge also has ads...
You could before install java trough the launcher
And other versions are for older Minecraft versions
Truth is, people who got used to old version, will complain, time will pass, and they'll stop or even praise the update.
Discord mobile type of deal.
Love you the app I am getting it in the morning when I get out of bead
theres a modrinth servers draft on their git repository, ig we getting it soon :)
hmm i don't get why they don't use the same mod discovery tab as on the website wich looks way cleaner in my opinion ?
BTW, DO STREAM TONIGHT
it's difficult to navigate for no reason. when you add mods, you can't see if you added the mod unless you mouse over it.
So basically they changed to make it like Forges installer
they changed it back literally a day later
They made it look more like prism.
how about, subjective?

I’m so happy I have yet to update and deny it every time 😂
In my case, the update was automatically forced through on launch without any option to deny it.
