Totally agree. I can understand why people don't like some part, for example 1:40. But other part are so fantastic, for example at 0:40 to 1:10. 9:45, just brilliant. For me one of the best track of all the Bond Bond Souctracks, if not the best. Honestly better than a lot of Barrys work, in my Opinion.
That "over-doing" it is exactly what creates the desired effect. Imagine what it would be like if it's played down? Would the action on the screen feel and look the same? Conti did a brilliant job on this one, along with Live and let die by George Martin this is my favorite Bond soundtrack. By some distance. Barry's stuff is iconic I guess you could say but these 2 have more balls, just a little bit of more creativity, more flavour.

I'm not clear on whether there is an orchestra playing this, or if someone has spent many days with a synthesiser - I hope its the latter, with the instrumentalists playing with a huge grin on their faces.
0:39 - 1:11 What the hell?! Today it's one of my absolutely favourite Bond soundtracks. But in can understabnd that it's not for everyone. Some pieces of music aren't really Bond-like (Runaway for example).
James Bond in Disco ha ha I love it but I feel it’s in the wrong film. For Your Eyes Only is a bit more on the grounded side for Roger Moore. This could’ve fit in the Spy Who Loved Me or Octopussy better.
Disagree. We just entered the 80s and ended the disco era at this point. It fits perfectly. Oh and there's even some parts of this that inspired the GoldenEye soundtrack (movie and game)

Definitely a better soundtrack than it gets credit for. Bill overdoes the funky/pop elements here and there, but otherwise he did a damn good job.

I adore that part at 1:40 personally, sounds so fresh, even today.
I genuinely love it. But whenever someone other than Barry did a movie I can’t help but wonder what he’d have done, too.
One good thing about being James Bond is that you have cool music playing in the background wherever you go.

This is the absolute worst score I've ever heard. It completely ruins the movie with the chikka-chikka guitar and funk beat. Awful.
