I will never forget as an 8 year old being taken by my parents to the cinema to see this, when Bond disappears over the edge of the cliff and his parachute opens to reveal the Union Jack practically the entire place cheered and whistled in appreciation, and to top it off during the ‘interval’ I was treated to a King Cone.
Much more likely to happen when the cinema is full. Happened when I saw Revenge of the Sith and the audience saw Yoda pick up a light saber. This is my favorite Bond moment and I imagine it getting such a reaction every time I see it. Thank you for the confirmation.
Well, actually, he said this was his favorite bond movie that he was in. But his actual favorite of all the movies is Diamonds Are Forever, and before you ask, no I'm not making this up.
Great song, great movie. This was one of the first James Bond films I ever saw and it's still one of my very favorites. That ski chase has always been one of my favorite action sequences ever.
@@a.barnard3205 yep that lotus sequence- just the right mix of drama, top stunt work and tong in cheek - never bettered, and it almost went very wrong. proper stunts. respect
@@a.barnard3205 absolutely, that was an amazing bit of stunt work, but I meant as the lotus was 'being shot at' by the chopper, I think I recall reading one of the squibs went off very close to the tyre, and if you look at the drop offs, could have been a very nasty crash had a tyre clown out
When I was a kid I used to watch James Bond movies when parents weren't home. I loved Jaws. He was the best and scariest villain I had ever seen on TV. Chases were exciting because James Bond had amazing devices against villains. Now he is only using his fists or a gun.
My first bond film was Live and Let die which I watched in 1982 at the age of 8 on VHS. Suprisingly I did not initially watch it from the beginning but from the boat chase scene. My first Sean Connery film was Gold finger and because I had watched a couple of Roger Moore films, it was at first strange, I kept on looking for when Bond would appear and did not understand the film. Suprisingly by 1986, I had watched all the Bond films that had been done up to a View to a kill, whether on VHS or Television.
I don't think Dalton did, in the living daylights he was on top of a Stradivarius case on snow. I also do not remember Craig doing so too in his films.
You and I share the same experience. This music made chace scenes even better. Ski chace and helicopter chacing James Bond's white car are my favorites. I had to upload this song here because an RUclips account was deleted and this song with it.
There should be a soundtrack for this movie with ALL of the music from the movie, including the Pyramids with the narrator. (who was he?) I liked that scene. The one thing on the soundtrack I don't get is: why during the Pyramids track they switch over to the Max Kalba Club and then back to the scene where Bond fights off those two Russian henchmen who "exceeded their orders". Loved that car, though. Major Amisova / XXX and Naomie were HOT! I liked that gal who was at the front desk at the hotel ;) :) Good Movie, though :)
The narrator at the Pyramids was part of the Sound And Light Show which we have seen a couple of times in Cairo. Could well have been Sir Ralph Richardson back then. We have been to Egypt about 8 times now and spotted some whopping errors in geography in some of those scenes! But hey, it's a Bond movie and the locations looked great on the big screen.
I think the Bond films with ski chases are: On her Majesty's secret service, The spy who loved me, For your eyes only, A view to a kill, ( the living daylights not because bond was on skis but he was pursued by men on skis), The world is not enough.( I think).
By that viewpoint, Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball and so on are all sucky Bond movies because they didn't have "exciting ski chases".
Bond made it to the disco era.
Bullshit. That never happens at the cinema lmao.
J.J. You obviously weren’t there then

This remix of the Bond theme is so amazing. It's so funky and groovy. This would cure Christopher Walken's fever. 😂
Of all the Bonds this was Sir Rogers favorite he said when asked. Have all the soundtracks. Bond 77 ! Rip Roger Moore! Superb darling.😇

@@DSPGamingR.E.A.L Oh cool, I love Diamonds Are Forever, most people dislike it.. But I think it's awesome.
I know he's a bit full of himself but does anyone know who Sean Connery's favourite bond is? I know he likes Daniel but I mean before Daniel was bond.
He always said Live and Let Die was his favourite of the ones he did.
Love the funky guitar and keyboard work - and the orchestration - the whole damned soundtrack suits the movie so well!!!
Love how this track incorporates both Bond elements and the sound of the 70’s…….well done!!
one of the best bond films of all time, i still have the original VHS and i wasn't even born when it came out.

Pardon of me buddy this is not first james bond film the first actor is sean connery he is the bond i ever see look at his movie
Best Bond movie ever. great intro, Carly Simon, Marvin Hamlisch, Jaws, Lotus helicopter chase, Barbara Bach, Caroline Munro, Stromberg, sleazy ending.
Let’s be honest here this film (In my opinion) is the best bond film ever made
You are NOT alone in your assertion!
Also the best Stunt Sequence of ANY film, because it was done for real!

My parents actually took me to cinema to watch Thunderball and You Only Live Twice. It was simply amazing!
What was it new Q said in Skyfall ‘’We don’t do exploding pens anymore’’ which is a shame cause those are the defining gadgets of James bond
I agree with this post a 100% modern day bond is so boring no cool gadgets just gun barrels
this was the long version, not the movie version. Back then we had long and short versions of certain songs. Perfect to boogie to at the disco.
My first 007 movies ❤❤ & then 2024 still the best of the best & no body does it better ..
Very 70s loved this music and film was the best bond film ever
The best bond film ever followed by the living daylights
This and then Nobody does it better is pure magic
wheras the Golden Gun song is pure camp / Hong Kong martial arts cinema

The best use for the SPECTRE bluray disc, is to stand your beer on it while watching They Spy Who Loved Me for the umpteenth time...😁
The first real ski chase I saw was in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I love the jump at the end of Spy Who Loved Me as I'm sure all of you did!
I just realized that Connery was the only bond who never skied. So strange to think about.
