- See what your options are for a grapple if you don't have any additional hydraulics on your tractor. Power Beyond is not designed to operate a grapple. Your SCV's that control your loader will not also control a traditional grapple. Finally, manufacturers are wising up and finding solutions that will help the 90% of us that don't have any additional hydraulic SCV's or diverter kits on our tractors. You can now get a grapple. The best part is that these can be easily assembled and installed quickly! No trips to the dealer. Assemble it, attach it to your tractor, and get to work!
The Westendorf Brush Crusher offers many models, with two of the most popular models being the BC-4200 for JDQA loaders and the BC-4300 for SSQA loaders. The Brush Crusher BC-4200 weighs only 238 lbs while the BC-4300 weighs in at 295 lbs. Both options are substantially lighter and cheaper than a traditional hydraulic grapple and will still complete the work of a traditional hydraulic grapple at a fraction of the overall cost.
Worksaver has now come out with an electric grapple, the ESCG-48 Mini Grapple which will work with both JDQA and SSQA loaders. This is operated by an electric actuator and comes with the complete wiring harness with integrated thumb control to operate with your hand on the joystick. The entire package weighs in at 240 lbs/247lbs respectively and means you can be up and running with the grapple function within an hour of getting the grapple home. These grapples will be a game changer as they make a true grapple function an affordable reality for the rest of us without additional hydraulics.

I bought the bruchcrusher 4200 a couple years ago and really like it. Early winter when they came out with the extra center teeth option, I bought the lower center teeth. Now I can pick up all limbs nomatter how small they are.
Thanks for sharing Courtney. A couple of options for folks that don't have the 3rd function valve. Good stuff. Cheers!
Thanks GP!
Excellent demonstration on grapple options . I like the way you offer all your customers all the choices . 👍 Have too agree with you the hydraulic add on functions . Even though I build my own custom attachments and do my own hydraulic add ons . It can get costly . For the person that just wants a simple grapple I think this is a great idea and it’s good too see company’s offering simple easy installs 👍 well done 👍
Thank you sir!
Congratulations Courtney for stocking these and making them available for quick purchase, I've had mine for a year now and would be happy to answer and questions your viewers may have. I have videos posted of the two teeth and the full set of teeth in action. Let me know if I can be of service. - Bill
I've seen Bill, great videos. Thanks!
Looking forward to your follow-up with them in action. Both appear to be well engineered, and as handy as can be. I can think of so many uses for 1 of these!!

I had a set of Brushcrusher grapples on a older 85 hp Ford tractor that were pin on style. The two sides worked independently. The problem was the point where they contacted the loader arms when closing. The pressure was so great that they bent or rather indented the arms . That point on the loader should be reinforced to prevent this. That being said the newer ones may be redesigned to solve this problem.
Thanks for your input!
That's what I was thinking would happen. The loader arms weren't designed for that.
God bless you!
Awesome video! Great comparison! Thanks for taking the time to make this video!👍👍
Thank you Fred!
Great comparison of the grapples! Look forward to you demoing them!
Thanks photo!
Very informative and complete information as usual. Great job.
Thanks Lea!
This is a game changer! Thank for the info and great video!
Thanks for watching Pete!
Great video...as always! Now I have to choose between a grapple or a BigToolRack as my next addition.
Thought of this years ago but wasn't sure how it would work. Just a 12 volt linear actuator.
Great episode. Thank you.
Thank you!
Just found your channel, when I enquired Brush Crusher had me contact an implement dealer 4 states away who really didn’t have much experience with their equipment. Actually like the motorized work saver more, probably look into one later this summer.
Both of those are pretty nice.
I agree, thanks Keith!
I say the brush crushers are the best. But I am biased. Due to I have a Westendorf TA-55 loader(their smallest) on a 1986 john deere 755. I have the brush crushers for this loader. Which is a pin on loader. So the brush crushers are much smaller than the one you show. But they are separate pieces. One for each side. A bear to install. But I have moved large brush piles quickly and effortlessly . Also moved good sized logs. They work good and are 10 years old. It would be nice to have that new type due to ease of mounting it. But we have to work with what we have. Great video!
Hi Rick, thanks for your input. I think that was an old design, but I could be wrong.
@@GoodWorksTractors Yes I bought them in 2010. But with a pin on bucket design. That is the only type that will work for me. But again they work great!
Thankyou sir for making this awesome video in these 2 new grappler attatchments. I am really looking forward to the next video where you show these 2 units in actual use. i really like thr 1st one you mentioned, the Brush Cutter. i was hoping you would give the prices of these 2 new grappler units. Awesome vidoe & i definately want one for sure. i have been needing a grapple for the past 3 yrs or better, but could not figure to the adjustment cost of the 3rd fuction hydraulic. i have the 2016 JD FLIB, 54" quick attach mower, & thr H-120 loader. i hope to be doing some buisness with ya in the near future. thankyou for sharing the video.
How much for the "BRUSH CUTTER" grapple with the top bottom" middle teeth?
I would like to see a video of 3038E with ag tires. My main concern is ground clearance.
That fact that you have suggest not to route the electrical cable to the loader if you take the loader off means this first version needs a design change. It needs a second connector like the one at the grapple near the front of the loader for quick removed of the loader. I’m sure this lack of connector would cause TTWT much frustration.
Sure, add a second connector and the price goes up! Ha! It isn't rocket science, it's routing it in a practical way that doesn't interfere with the loader. Think about your route ahead of time and it's not a big deal.
Ok yeh, I've seen some discussion about this electric grapple. It's so new, not a lot of info on it out there. Handy vid, thx!
Thanks for watching!
Looks like the electric option would be better for loading brush in a truck or trailer. Will they both empty when you open the grapple at full lift?
We'll see in an upcoming video.
Does this company make a grapple oppsion for none quick attachment. Loader and electronic opposition claw?
Great video. Link for push pin for side panel?
Hi Dave,
I don't have that link unfortunately. Give your JD parts counter a call and they should be able to provide.
I’m interested in the Brush Crusher BC4200 because of its simplicity, ease of instillation, and total installed sub-$2,000 price point with middle support claw accessories.
For me, a grapple would be nice to own, but would not see constant use like the bucket, or belly mower. So eliminating the various 3rd function need at an additional $700 (self installed) to $1,500 is a big benefit of the Brush Crusher.
However, I am concerned about the lower clamp stop causing damage to the lifting arms where the stop touches the arms. I can live with paint being scratched off. I do not wish to have the arms damaged.
Do you have anything that can be added to the arms to protect them? Something like a protective wear plate?
Hi Doug,
No accessories for the lift arms. Westendorf has been manufacturing these brush crushers for many years without issue though.
Good Works Tractors, thank you. Perhaps I am being overly concerned. If no users are reporting arm damage, it may not be a issue.
I’d love to see you borrow one of these BC4200’s to Tim to give it a field workout. The RUclips channel with three cabins found he needed the center parts, a 3rd wide claw for the open area between the two claws. The technical name may be something other then a 3rd middle claw.
Looking at the three cabins video, I’m thinking only the lower middle clamp was needed, which would save weight if you eliminate the upper middle claw, but I could be wrong. Thats why I’d love Tim to look at it, give it a real world try.
It's a valid concern. I'm sure there's some that have had an issue, but that could be said for any product on the market. Plus, individual operators all handle equipment a little differently as well.
Do they make an electric one with skid steer front mount
First question- what is the hydraulic pressure on the electric model?
Second question- what is the clamping force of the electric model?
All of the information I have is available to you as well... www.worksaver.com/electric-sub-compact-grapple
I heard from Worksaver that the clamping force is 1,000 lbs.
Is the downward force on the electric grapple comparable to a hydraulic system?
Good question, but I haven't been able to find the hydraulic clamping force in their specs.
Another very informative video, thanks. What is the mirror on the boom arm of the one tractor? I’m looking to put a mirror on my 2038r but not sure what is the best product
Order an inexpensive pair of golf cart mirrors. Easy to install on loader arm uprights, slight convex shape, durable. I bought mirrors for Club Car. There's always some dumbass walking up behind you when you're running your tractor.
Would the Brushcrusher work better with a self leveling loader or does it matter?
I don't think it matters
Couldn't you just put forks on the bottom of the front end loader and a finger or two above it so when you turn the bucket up it would pinch the limbs in it ? I mean, seems easy enough to me ?
Sure
What a great idea. You mention the "savings" but you never say and pricing. If you sell both why not just tell the price?
Two reasons. Pricing is on my website. Pricing changes over time and this video will be on RUclips forever.
Someone ought to make a grapple like a truck snow plow. Has the resevoir and cylinder on the attachment. Plug it in to power and add a remote and done. I feel that electric one doesn't have much force?
1,000 lbs of force on the electric grapple. I think that's plenty for a small tractor.
@@GoodWorksTractors pretty impressive. From my understanding its pretty much like putting an electric impact wrench on a bolt and screwing the grapple in or out.
Think the electric would be easier to push across the ground to get smaller roots and limbs
That's true. It would have an advantage with that...similar to a landscape rake
Is the connector a regular battery quick disconnect? this controller could also be used for a chute deflector on a snow blower with an electric solenoid???
Not a quick disconnect on your battery. Unscrew the nut on each terminal, slide the connector on and put tighten the nut back down. Yes, I don't see why it couldn't be used. You'd just need to get the mating end of the electric snowblower to match up with what's on the harness.
@@GoodWorksTractorsThat was my question. is the end that connects to the grapple a battery disconnect like would be used on an electric motor of a boat?
Oh, I have no idea. I've had several electric trolling motors and none of them had disconnects that looked like this one.
Good Works Tractors that connector isn’t too much different than some used on wreckers and for winch remotes or battery jump connections at the rear of vehicles.
I'd guess it has to be somewhat common. Doubt they had a new connector made just for this attachment.
How much pressure does the electric grappler have for holding objects?
1,000 lbs
I would be interested in seeing if the electric one would drain your battery if you use it all day. What is the rating on the loader arms of the J.D. at the point where the bottom teeth set on ,the other grapple. Does this void the JD warranty if the loader arms gets bent.
I have a few videos on using these. Here was the latest with the added teeth. ruclips.net/video/WbW5tpKceSw/видео.html
Hi I’m thinking of getting a electric grapple. is there a big difference in clamping force between the electric and hydraulic grapple?
Why does your tractor still have the old style air cleaner that does damage to the vavle covers or the bracket brakes?
I haven't changed it over.
Hey Courtney - Love your channel (and your website) - I thought Westendorf had a BC4215 model that already comes with the center set of teeth for small brush? And it was only about 50-60 lbs more than the BC4200....? Would you recommend this on my 1025r...? Thanks as always....
Thanks! Yes, I mention that model in the video. I haven't had one in stock yet. Either would be an option. Just be aware of the weight difference. As you know, the 1025r doesn't have a massive lift capacity as it is 😂
Will this ever be available for larger tractors
The Brush Crushers are available for larger tractors. The electric grapples are good up to 32HP.
Just ad the 3rd function. You will be way happier with it done right. Plus there are many other implements you can run with the third function. When you figure the cost of the kit compared to these options it just doesn’t make sense to me. 20k for a nice tractor, you might as well set it up right. None of these options look like they hold a candle to my 3rd function grapple.
That's your opinion, but these options have come to the market because a lot of folks have asked for different solutions. Thanks for watching!
Yes, it just doesn't make sense to me either. So one spends $20 to $30K on a tractor and the extra expense for a 3rd function is too much? It was $850 for my 3rd function. Not free, but well worth the money of having hydraulics on the front for my grapple, as well as tree puller, etc. This seems like a solution looking for a problem.
2:52 gets to it
where can I buy this grapple and what is the cost.. I want the brusher crusher.
Hi Ronald,
Give me a call or shoot me an email and I can work you up an invoice. Thanks for your interest!
What's a Kabota?
Is the wiring and electronic cylinder sold separately, my 420 garden tractor I'd need to build the units
I'm trying to find that out for another customer. Waiting to hear back.
Does the electric one come to fit the 3025E?
Hi John, yes it does
@@GoodWorksTractors Mine has the D160 loader on it.
Yeah, just the regular JDQA on it. The harness is universal, so made to fit pretty much any compact tractor.
Do they make the brush crusher for a 5 series loader?
Yes, will depend on your style of quick attach too. Email me if you'd like me to quote you and thank you very much for watching!
The only problem I see with the brush crusher is the excessive stress being put on the loader rams if picking up anything heavy. The
They are at full extension during clamping.
Probably not often at full extension while clamping. You're seeing it in action without it actually grabbing onto anything. I've watched quite a few videos of them in action and with a log or fat pile of brush, the cylinders are somewhat retracted. I know what you mean though, however I gotta imagine that they wouldn't have been selling these continuously for years if that were a major problem.
I bent lower teeth oh my grapple so bad I had to use the loader and a bucket to put it back straight. It will rub the paint off the bottom of the loader. I have 24 hours on mine cleared 2
acres of trees and I don’t know what I do without it.I love my 4200 Brushcrusher
Is that Tim's Honda?
🤣Ha, no, but I was wondering if anyone would ever comment about it!
I guessed a scissor joint. Didn't even think at all about a stop and just using the rams.
Yeah, kind of a unique idea. I like it!
We need these options for a plow blade. Left to right with the curl lever. Somehow. Some way.
That would be a good idea.
Do you have on for a 3025
Yes, this one works for the 3025e
Hope you got a discount on your misspelled “Kubota” sweatshirt 😕
🤣Some of us can only afford the knock off!
Haha gotta save a buck when you can ! next time were your Jon Deer hat ! Great vid by the way !
Do they make the brush crusher that fits the 4066r
Yes, the BC-4200 as shown in the video will work.
Good Works Tractors do you have a cost and shipping to French lick Indiana
Please email me for a quote, thanks!
Would either grapple work on a JD 44 loader?
Probably depends if they have the JDQA?
1st, great vid
🏆🎉🥇👍
@@GoodWorksTractors I'd like a vid around box blade vs graders.
Yes, been on my to-do list. I'll get to it eventually, ha!
@@GoodWorksTractors I know easy to sit over here and make request. Keep up the good work
😂Keep the ideas coming...sometimes I've got a long list, sometimes I don't wanna make videos of anything on that list!
The first one just rubs on the bottom arm of the loader, scraping all the paint off and wearing a non-wear part, ah no thanks.
Why is “Kabota” written on your sweatshirt?
Some of us can only afford the knockoff! 🤣👍 Thanks for watching!
i need a electric grappel for a 1025r can you send me info how to get it of phone number to talk to someone
