i can not believe the owner walked in a SECOND time and just sat in the lobby, trying to rush you. also you can totally tell a difference in the dogs behavior from when the owner was there and when she wasn’t. you have so much patience. i hope you told the owner to just wait, next time, or even call for an update instead of just walking in. thank you for these videos, they help me know what to do when i take my dog to the groomer. you’re an amazing groomer!! 😊

You are absolutely correct regarding how the dispositions turn out for the mixed breed, doodle. The main issue with doodles is that there are so many backyard breeders and puppy mills that are supplying the market, the quality is being overlooked in favor of the availability of dogs. If you’re purchasing your dog from a pet store in a mall, strip, or the like, regardless of what they tell you, they are supplied by puppy mills. If you’re buying your dog off Craigslist or Facebook Yard Sale and the breeder doesn’t have a industry standard puppy contract, which would include a genetic health guarantee (which is not the same thing as a wellness guarantee) those are telltale signs of a backyard breeder. To be clear, backyard breeders are often not malicious in their intent. They’re usually just normal people with a dog or a couple dogs they think are “cute” or would make nice offspring, and then go on ahead and breed their dogs. However, the overarching issue is the same. Lack of research, lack of an understanding of inherited health concerns, the list goes on. This is also why you see so many allergies in doodles and other mixed breeds. Often times these are inherited from one or both parents and are then exacerbated in the offspring. These kinds of issues can absolutely be bred out of the gene pool when proper genetic testing is done on the prospective parents. Same thing for skeletal degenerative conditions like hip dysplasia. That’s the whole point of selective breeding.

Just wanted to tell you i love your videos. I'm a groomer in Texas, and I groom a lot of doodles. I have some really good ones, and I love love them. In the past, I had some really difficult ones, behavior issues, extreme matting, owners that didn't want their dog shaved when they were pelted, you know, the usual stuff. I fited those clients and now have some of the most well-behaved doodles, and clients that understand that if they don't maintain the coat , I will have to shave. It has made a world of difference. I love my doodles now. Also I want to say you do an amazing job.

I have a two year old golden doodle and he is the best thing in the world. I have learned to groom my doodle at home and it was the best thing I could have ever done. There are a lot of groomers in my area that will charge $200 for a grooming session and end up shaving the dog. I have heard and seen this over and over again. I knew what we were getting into when took our sweet boy home. However, his hair is not that thick or time consuming. He will sit for the whole process with no fuss or worries. But we do brush and comb him daily and take care of mats as soon as we see them.
    Enjoyed your video!!!!

I'm very fortunate to have never had a falling out with my groomer. There is a pretty good reason for that...I let her do her job. I don't tell her how to do her job, but I tell her about how I would like to adjust my Mill Mama Shih Tzu's haircut and ASK her if it is possible and how we can go about it. We have taken lots of baby steps together. She is the Professional and I'm the Mom. I ask questions (not make demands) and I defer to her expertise. She clearly knows dog behavior better than I do, and I rely on that for the welfare of my dog. In other words, I stay in my lane.

Thanks for another great video. In regard to doodles disposition, or any other breed of dog, I have said it more than once....genetics plays a large part, and how the dogs are raised also plays a role. Ethical breeders of dogs not only select for the best conformation, but also make sure there are no genetic health problems, and temperament is also included. I am a former breeder, owner, handler of champion show dogs. So, for me just the word doodle...these dogs are mutts, mixed breeds, I can go on and on. Sorry folks, this is how a lot of us feel. In my day--when dinosaurs walked--it was the cockapoo. As long as people jump on this "designer dog" bandwagon there will be people more than willing to breed these dogs, not caring about health concerns, or temperament....only how much money they can make. And this also includes purebred dogs. The French Bulldog is now #1 in AKC rankings, so what is going to happen to this breed too? As far as owners and their "ways", when I groomed professionally (years ago) I too had a few clients that were fine with me as long things went their way, but when it didn't go their way, they would turn on you. You don't need clients like that. I don't think it is with groomers only----people have no respect for one another. The Golden Rule has gotten lost. I know the trouble you have to deal with on a daily basis and I respect you for that. These are just some of my thoughts, experiences...thanks for sharing.

I don’t dislike the doodles themselves..some of my favorite dogs to groom are doodles. It’s the owners 100%. They don’t brush, they won’t stay on routine, yet expect long and fluffy. No matter how much education I give(and it’s a lot), they don’t/won’t do it. I’m not into torturing dogs for your neglect. I think I have maybe 5 doodles I can leave fluffy because their owners brush.

I wish we didnt have to tell an owner to leave or that them coming in and checking if the dog is done constantly is rude and makes us feel rushed. A groomer who feels rushed is more likely to injure the dog. As well as the dog is now unruley from seeing its owner. You think it would be common sense 🫠

Labradoodle are crazy, I’ve yet to meet one that isn’t. Strange when both breeds Labradors and poodles are both bird shooting retrieval dogs. Poodles are used because their coats are good for water retrieval and Labrador’s are exceptionally clever and calm. 😊

I'm one of those lucky doodle owners whose wavy little guy does not mat. We only slicker brush and comb him one time a week, if that. He goes to the groomer every four weeks and always looks spiffy. Our groomer has never come across a mat so far.

A dog that's supposed to be so active and is allowed to roam free is NOT gonna have such long nails😳 Sorry, but I call b.s. on his lifestyle!
P.s. They guy who breed the first doodle has famously said "he wished he would've never created the breed because of the (a) all the behavioral issues and (b) just how ridiculous the crossbreeding has become..."

She is beautiful!! That's one labor intensive groom !!! I heard that Philly Girl come out!!!😂 She was giving you a hard time all through the groom . I saw her pulling and pushing her weight around to get you to stop doing the groom. That must wear you out on such large dogs. Take care of your back. The lady that got angry at you because you are unable to groom very large dogs , she needs to get a larger vocabulary so she can express her self appropriately with out resorting to foul language. She decided to have a big dog she needs to find a large dog groomer that specializes in that kind of grooming . I know there out there. They have special equipment to handle the large breeds safely. If doodle owner don't understand how labor intensive there dogs coat is send them the video of the groom and save the mats to show them how matted they were. Ask them what they think a mat like that feels like if it was in there hair? Ask them do you think it would be very painful to try to detangle it? Or would the proper thing to do would be to cut it out? If they don't want the dog shaved then the fact is they need to get a comb and brush and get to work between grooming to keep the car free from mats. They wanted a doodle, they need to put in the work. It's as simple as that, isn't it? Greetings from Bucks county Pennsylvania 😊🐕🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I’ve had 9 doodles in the last 25 years. . Collie x Poodles. I groom myself and they are never ever clipped . One was scissored down but the rest are kept long. None of mine have any anxiety or aggressive. In fact mine have all had the most wonderful temperaments !! They love adults , kids , babies other dogs cats and kittens.
I have had doodles long before they were designer dogs. Wish I could post a photo of them on here. I have 5 now. The other 4 have sadly passed. I have an Instagram and FB page with photos 😊

It seems that maybe you should have refused to do this dog. I'm not being mean, but you saying that groomers hate doodles. And you wished that her mom never came. Are you as the groomer allowed to turn down doing a dog?
