    5.0 - My absolutely favorite games. You can pry them out of my cold dead hands.
    4.5 - Love this game! At the same time missing something that would make it a 5. Could be hard to table, lacking variability, a little light, etc.
    4.0 - Really great game, almost always keeping, although has meaningful complaints as to what takes away from the experience.
    3.5 - Really enjoyed, don't love it, may lose out to better games but the idea of never playing again is a bit sad.
    3.0 - A good game, would play and suggest with the right people, if I never played it again wouldn't lose any sleep.
    2.5 - A game I'd play again , but will never suggest it myself
    2.0 - A game I don't want to play again
    1.5 - A game I can't find any reason to recommend
    1.0 - A game that is just bad.

    The real challenge is how to store all of this United content. The pictures of the Omniverse All-In filled me with joy but also terrified me.

    Cards with permanent effects throughout the game have been there since X-Men United just now there color coded so you remember them.

    I'm right there with you on the update packs... I want my X-men to feel as cool as the new heroes with all the cool new mechanics....

    The new villain mechanic sounds like a lot of fun. I tend to enjoy Marvel over DC, but I am looking forward to how they continue to evolve the United system. In future campaigns it would be cool to get some upgraded decks for heroes in the original Marvel United box. I wouldn't mind them just releasing a new expansion box too with updates minis and cards.

    I am definitely DC over Marvel every day of the week, but I enjoy having them both. As such, I also support the idea of Expansion Packs for the older heroes. Hopefully CMON listen to you on this one Alex.

    Marvel United is my favourite game. I can’t wait for this campaign. Thanks for the great review.

    Good review as usual, I'll most likely back, but there are already many reviewers covering DC United (understandably so). Your expertise on reviewing Odalin would have been (may still be?) much more valuable (at least to the current 4100+ backers). ;)

    I have to correct you on one thing. X-Men United already had heroes with cards giving ongoing effects while in the storyline (Wolverine, etc.).

    Wow- one of the most helpful reviews! We had the initial Marvel United game and had exactly the same thoughts about each hero feeling almost exactly the same it really did feel like you’re playing the same game same person against different villains. So when I initially saw this game come up I thought that it might just be the same old, but your review has acknowledged those problems and listening to how it has been progressively tightened makes me actually interested in the game again.

    I already updated my S1 Marvel Heroes to have 4 or 5 Special Cards each (including some starting hand cards) so everything is relatively balanced out already for me.
    Add in equipment, and everything is good to go.
    I also replaced all the default wild and double wilds with a move+heroic and a move+punch for each hero since I never ever play with those as they not only water down the gameplay, they water down characters thematically....but its balanced out by still keeping decks at 12 instead of 10 cards.

    To be honest even today I find the original first marvel United a 10/10 for me.
    Haven’t played the third campaign yet obviously as they haven’t delivered. But honestly I didn’t even feel the x men adding so much to the game to me I am still happy mixing matching without feeling much difference.

      I agree. For me, a lot of the X-Men stuff just added more effects to remember, and increased the difficulty of winning, neither of which added to my enjoyment. My biggest gripe with the entire United system is that they have always provided ways to increase the difficulty level, but only with season 3 did they start adding a few ways to decrease it.

    I'd like to know more about the Equipment mechanic. Based on the game's Gamefound page, characters that have equipment cards also have 12 hero cards in their deck. As someone who hasn't played a Unite game before, it seems like characters that have more cards would be more powerful. What does this game do for characters like (I assume) Superman who don't have any equipment cards to make sure they aren't outclassed by character that DO have equipment cards

  • @1AngelAlita
    @1AngelAlita 26 дней назад +1

    I agree with each iteration of the game being more fun that the previous one. Which is a shame, as the main Marvel heroes feel quite... unexciting to play (but equipment may help with that).. We will see, I hugely prefer Marvel but base game + SG box will be a great value as usual...

    I'm glad you gave the history of changes through all the new expansions or whatever you want to call them. I was wondering if getting into it now meant I should pick up the earlier content. But sounds like that's a no, unless it's for the bosses. Can you mix and match superheroes vs bosses and locations? How does that work? Is there story or can you mix and match anything?

  • @thehaydenroper
    @thehaydenroper 24 дня назад

    Way bigger DC fan, so glad they hit their stride before they came out with this. They really need to find a clever way to update season 1. Sure they could introduce Iron Man (civil war) which is effectively a new costume of the same hero, but season 1 iron man should be brought up to the recent power curve.... Or at least release a "Biggest Hits from earlier seasons" reworked for people who love those characters

  • @metalrock720
    @metalrock720 20 дней назад

    Did you ever answer the important question? If people didn't love the original Marvel United because of its over simplicity - does this version add enough changes and depth that it may change peoples minds?
    Also it seems like for some other folks the more mechanics is making the game move further away from its simplicity which is the core of its design and appeal to some.

  • @BobbyJuno

    @16:10 you can say that again. I hope they have a decent amount of Batman content bundled separately from the rest of the DC content.

    I’m going to show some self-control and pass on this one. I have all of the X-Men stuff already (including X-men related stuff from the original & multiverse campaigns), and I don’t need any more. But it looks great.
    I also went all-in on DCeased for my DC fix. 😅

      I like it only when playing a fan made legacy campaign. I need the games to have some meaning. Otherwise it's really a mediocre game to play.
