As a Bodo speaking Bodo as my mother tongue from Kokrajhar, Bodoland Territorial Region, Assam. As being a Khilonjiya Oxomiya (Indigenous Assamese) and also Bodos being regarded as the earliest settlers of assam as it is taught in the universities of assam in history, anthropology and sociology. I believe that I have the privilege to type this comment. This is not a hatred comment for my ethnic-assamese brothers and sisters of assam who speak assamese as their first language. Ahoms spoke Tai-ahom and Tai-ahom was their court language not assamese. Assamese originated from old Prakrit but eventually became sanskritised language and lingua franca of Assam only after brahminisation by brahmins from Orissa or mainland India during the late periods of the Ahom dynasty or even as late as early 19th century. Learned assamese people generally knows about this. Anyway, just for the facts. How Bodos are the first settlers of Assam ?! Generally, Bodos as a people from mongoloid race are supposedly considered to have settled in assam atleast 7000 years ago from being nomadic people north of the himalayas from mongolia, china and tibet into agrarian based tribe into plains and valleys of Assam. Bodos or Boro-Kacharis, a plain tribe and the Dimasas or Dimasa-Kacharis, a hill tribe of assam speaking linguistically similar Sino-tibetan languages Bodo and Dimasa, respectively doesn't like glorifying much about the Ahoms because they are regarded as invaders in both the history of the Bodos and the Dimasas having been people related to the kachari kingdom. Also Kacharis are also mentioned as Kiratas in ancient Hindu texts. Ahoms are generally taken as invaders who came from Yunan, China and later ruled assam by both the Bodos and the Dimasas. The Kacharis already had an established dynasty in Assam with capital Dimapur, presently in Nagaland before the Ahoms came in Assam. Dimapur is derived from Bodo and Dimasa meaning City above the large water/river and even believe to derived mythologicaly to be derived from the Asura Hidimba and his sister Asuri Hidimbi whom Bhima married in the Mahabharata. Ahoms and Kacharis had many clashes. The Kacharis defeated the Ahoms couple of times initially. The ahoms had to offer princesses to the Kachari Kings after the defeat. . However, Ahoms later defeated the Kacharis and sacked Dimapur. The Kachari ruins in dimapur are very much evident even today. After the destruction of Dimapur, the Dimasas had to flee to the hills in middle of Assam. However, they established Dimasa kingdom and dynasty again with capital Maibang and Khaspur in the southern plains of Assam in Barak valley near Silchar. The Bodos on the other hand who claim to be from the earliest ruling clan 'Bodosa' of the kacharis believe to have fled to the northern plains of the Brahmaputra(Burllungbuthur in Bodo) in western assam near the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh and again became a distinctively agrarian based plain tribe differently from the Dimasas. Just like the ahom has Buranjis for their records. The Bodos had deodhai script for the records but it is undeciphered now and sometimes the Ahoms are blamed for the cause. Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha collected many samples of Deodhai script from Kachari ruin monoliths in dimapur. Everyone knows about Lachit Borphukon in Assam. His statue is built in the Brahmaputra in Guwahati. Only few know about Jwhwlao Dwimalu (Bodo) and Veer Demalik Kemprai (Dimasa), the same chief warrior or army general whose statues are built in Kokrajhar, Bodoland Territorial Region and Haflong, Dima Hasao, respectively. He defeated many neighbouring burmese kingdom armies and brought white elephants as souvenirs. His legacy however sadly ends with tragedy of curses to the tribes or the whole kachari community. His life story is the same in Bodo history and Dimasa history thus believed to be the same person but his historical timeline is little bit controversial among Bodos and Dimasas. Jwhwlao Dwimalu was from 8th century as mentioned in the statue in kokrajhar according to the bodos and Veer Demalik Kemprai from early 13th century (1200s) according to the Dimasas. Now here's the scenario, even if latter Veer Demalik Kemprai's lifetime timeline is taken into consideration. It's same time Sukaphaa, the first king of the ahoms came to Assam and established Ahom kingdom in Assam.
Bodos are not the first to came in assam. Assam was ruled by different dynasties in assam like burman, salastambha, pal, khen before ahoms and they brought Brahmins and other caste in assam. Bodos came from Tibet and they were nomadic tribes and didn't had kingdom. There is no mention. Dimasas, Koch, chutias had kingdom which was mostly conquered by the ahoms. Ahom history called buranji is legit and ahom history is well documented by even Mughals, sultans, and neighbouring kingdom of khasi, jaintia, Manipur, tripural etc. I have never heard of any boro Kingdom. More research is needed. There are lots of boros in Bangladesh, nepal,Bhutan and West Bengal so according to you these were also part of boro Kingdom.
@@genghiskhannew7370 No, ofcourse not. There was no Bodo Kingdom. I never mentioned a Bodo kingdom or dynasty in my above comment. I very much aware that there was no distinctively recorded Bodo kingdom. Also, that the claim that bodos are the earliest settlers of assam is little presumptive for even universities in assam to be teaching it. Be it in History, Sociology or Anthropology. However, there is only mentioning of Kacharis as Kiratas and Mlecchas in ancient Hindu texts. So, Bodos generally, specifically on paper as Boro-Kachari as Sub-Kachari tribe just like any other kachari tribe like Dimasa-Kachari, Sonowal-Kachari, Mech-Kachari, etc. can claim on it to be atleast as ancient as Hinduism on the land of Assam. But bodos as an agrarian based tribe claim to be older than even hinduism in Assam because it's simply farming is older than hinduism. It is very controversial in assam. Bodos only share history of dimapur with the Dimasas as kacharis because Kachari kingdom is also known as Dimasa kingdom. 'Bodosa' being the earliest ruling clan. The surnames and tribe names itself in Kachari tribes are more like clan names. I have already mentioned this in above comment. Moreover, the similarity of lifestory of Jwhwlao Dwimalu who was born in Dimapur whose statue is built in Kokrajhar and Veer Demalik Kemprai(aka Dehmalu in Dimasa) whose statue is built is haflong. I don't know what Bodos in Bangladesh are known as. They've come to BTR in many cultural programmes. I forgot what the are known as a community in Bangladesh but I do know that the bodos in West Bengal, Bhutan and Nepal are known as Mechs. In Nagaland, bodos are known distinctively as Mech-Kacharis or simply as Kacharis.
@@girirajbrahma597 you know at ancient time there was no assam. There was kamrupa which comprises most of the northeast, part of west bengal, Bhutan, most part of northern Bangladesh and part of nepal and bihar too. So kacharis or kiratas were there all over the place along with some austroasiatic tribes. In fact khasis are older than kiratas as per research. Now look first documented kingdom of assam is varman dynasty who's origin is unknown. But they were highly hinduised and had great relationship with other kingdoms of India. It was the time when Brahmins and some caste settled in kamrup. In 12th century Bakhtiyar Khilji was the first muslim to invade assam. He was led by one ali mech(boro) to invade assam. At that time lots of kiratas in present day northern Bangladesh and bengal converted to Islam and lost their identity over time. Bakhtiyar Khilji was defeated in guwahati by khen dynasty king called prithu. This place called guwahati had always been the capital of kamrup. Then in 1228 chao lung siu ka pha came from Yunnan province of china and made charaideo his capital and established ahom kingdom. Ahoms were the one who United different tribes and communities and carve out a country called assam from old kamarupa. At a time ahom kingdom extended from khamjang in Myanmar to manas river in west. Ahoms established matrimonial relationship and also hostility with different tribes and communities. Ahoms defeated various naga tribes, miris, daflas, singphos, defeated bhutias. conquered chutia kingdom, kachari kingdom, eastern Koch kingdom, baro bhuyans. Kingdom of darrang, beltola, rani even jaintya were vassels of ahoms. But ahoms were very liberal and appointed person from different tribes in various post. Ahoms took lead and defeated 17 Mughal invasion along with many attack from sultans of Bengal before. Otherwise assam would be under Bangladesh Today and everybody would be mullah. Ahoms had superior war strategy, cleverness, weapons and were physically very strong and brave. In fact sahabuddin tallish praised the ahoms in his biography on Mughal ahom war - baharistan I ghayabi. He said one ahom was equal to ten muslims and he didn't saw physical strength like ahoms in any part of the world. They had brutal temper and were fiercely independent. Ahoms were nightmare for Mughals. Many other kingdom like western Koch kingdom became vessal of Mughals so did dimasa kingdom in khaspur( cachar). That's why undivided Goalpara district( Kokrajhar, dhubri, Goalpara, Bongaigaon) was part of Bengal before British conquest. British get Goalpara after defeating the nawab of Bengal. Ahom kingdom was still indipendent. But ahoms got weaker after they got influence by Vaishnavism and some Brahmins brought from bengal who misguided the king and the common people by encouraging vegitarian diet, non violence, superstition etc thus the ahoms lost the glory or the pride which they took as a race and became soft. After the moamoria rebellion broke the backbone of the kingdom and finally the Burmese invasion destroyed the Kingdom. Inspite of weakness in number of soldiers, arms ahoms fought with Burmese till end and even defeated Burmese in some engagement. But due to their numerical superiority and better arms and ammunition Burmese defeated the ahom kingdom which was already weakened and depopulated by moamoria rebellion. After that British defeated the Burmese and conquered assam. Ahoms even rebelled against British but couldn't became successful. Pipli phukan became martyr before mangal pandey. Thus ahoms gave blood for assam as no other communities in northeast. They created assam with their own hand. Give up their own language for the sake of the subjects. So please give some respect.
@UCGXeulgMnhMzjCfACXP5dMA yes these days the mainland form of Hinduism and culture is influencing assam. This is not a good sign. We should stay as Assamese live as Assamese. We should reject every foreign Hindu or Muslim culture which is becoming prominent day by day. That's my opinion
@@genghiskhannew7370 Kamrupa is clearly shown larger exaggeratedly on the maps just to glorify it. Even, today population of assamese people is only 1% of India. No person from Bengal or Bhutan or Nepal accept it to have existed it on their land as history or even in Hindu mythology on their land. Kamrupa kings and princes are shown in epics of Mahabharata and Ramayana to go for svayamwara which to get suited as a chosen husband for marraige and also in battles. So, I totally know that there was no assam in ancient times and also about Kamrupa and about 'Barman' Dynasty because I once talked about it with my Koch-Rajbongshi friend who claim it to be their earliest most dynasty as they have Barman surname in their community. I have already mentioned assamese as language originated from old Prakrit which was even earlier than Kamrupa. Old Prakrit is older than its standardised language sanskrit making assamese atleast 3000 years old. Now ok, let's say autroasiatic race people from tribes like khasi and jaintia are the first settlers of assam. Just for the fact that today's meghalaya was also in Assam and Shillong was the capital of Assam during British rule and before Meghalaya was carved out of Assam. Autroasiatic people came earlier than the mongoloid race people in northeast India. let us leave that to be scientifically proven, I guess which is already done and so therefore happens to be taught in universities in assam. But Why not double check? Let us leave that again to anthropology to find out again by more radiocarbon dating of fossils or skulls and bones of dead people of ancient times in northeast India. Ok?! Now, What about the medieval times ? What have Ahoms done for the Bodos or for the whole of Kachari communities except for the destruction in our history? This is not just my perspective. This is what generally Bodos and Dimasas think about the Ahoms. Moreover, Even Ahoms when they glorify about themselves they can't without mentioning about the Mughals that they had defeated them 17 times. I guess, this is how identities of people are shaped or known in time by influence of people from other identities/communities. So, I neither have respect nor disrespect for the Ahoms. Thank you.

Thank you.
I respect Ahom people. They are brave people
