1:27:10 The difference beetween potency and count is that potency is about strengh of a status and count how long it last. Like in a example of rupture, it will deal more damage to the target when you land a hit on it. The amount of bonus damage is based on potency and count is for how many hits before the status expires. So 6 rupture potency and 3 count means the next 3 hits on the target will deal 6 more damage.

I see a lot of people talking about good vs bad ids, but i appreciate the hell out of you varying who youre using and picking characters who are cool and fun. Any sinner is viable, all ids are in some way good. Yeah, some are better than others: Cinqlair is so fun and good that I use him exclusively for farming. But you should continue to use who you like regardless of 'viability'

Right. Most of the important stuff has been explained already, and you'll probably learn most of it on your own, anyway. Just wanted to clear one thing up: Not all Skill 1s have 1 coin. Skills have different amounts of coins on a case-by-case basis. Some Skill 1s(skill ones are the bad ones)have 3 coins, while some Skill 2s have 1 coin.
Also, I'd like to request that you do your first few Mirror Dungeon runs on camera, at least. They end up being grindy after a while, but they are actually quite interesting if you haven't done everything there is to do a hundred times.
Anyway. This series is very cool, and there's still something that makes your playthroughs more interesting than all the other ones I've watched. Just like with Ruina; the interesting insights, the commentary and the attention to detail make this very fun and exciting, despite the fact that I've seen this storyline way too many times.

  • @NothingKingKN
    @NothingKingKN 11 месяцев назад +60

People are really excited about you playing Limbus because the Ruina community did it pretty fucking dirty, seeing it only as a gacha game like the others and not a... You know... PM game with actual heart.
The IDs are neat, some of them are borderline fanservice (as in referencing other PM games) and that's perfectly fine. It's a good addition to the series.
The game apparently will go on for basically the entirety of PM's existence as a company, as they want to treat the post-story Limbus as a way to interact with more aspects of the narrative they plan to build with future titles.

I mean, of course they didn't like it. I was a Ruina fan and when Limbus got announced, I was pissed for good reason- I'd played a LOT of games like these, and most of them sucked and drained hours and hours of my life. Limbus is... considerably better than that, and a really good game, but it still took a LONG time for me to get over the gacha game stuff. I don't know how you could expect anyone who's used to a 30 dollar, full 100+ hour game to get on board with Limbus' grinding and gambling easily.

Really happy to see you liking the game more and more. Here's another non spoiler tip: Uptying identities to atleast lvl 3 is very important since it give them a 3rd powerful skill to use and generally upgrades all of their attacks and passives. You can get thread for upgrades from event rewards and converting identity shards(the things u get for duplicate gacha) into thread.

  • @kamanira
    @kamanira 11 месяцев назад +2

Thought I'd give some useful advice regarding IDs here:
First, it goes without saying, but "000" IDs are innately stronger than "00" and "0" IDs. Higher rarity is higher power, and if you have them, use 'em, because you'll want them levelled for later. You WILL reach a wall eventually where taking the game casually and swapping sinners on a whim without preparation won't work- expect this around Canto 3, as that's where the difficulty picks up.
Second, uptying. You don't need to worry about this yet, but the game has a mechanic called uptying, allowing you to power up identities using a material called thread, gained either through a specific farming stage, or by trading in Egoshards.
Uptie level 2 buffs existing skills.
Uptie level 3 grants a new skill that more often than not "completes" the kit. A personal favorite being how Reindeer Ishmael is a fairly weak character with a pointless charge mechanic before uptie 3, and becomes an absolute unit when she unlocks mind whip to use those charges.
Uptie Level 4 gives another round of buffs, typocally massively empower the third skill, again, using R.Ishmael as an example, in her case, it halves the charge cost of Mind Whip.
Uptying is very much something to look into when you have the materials.
I do hope this all helps

    @Ysevetyfive 11 месяцев назад +3

Congratulations! You got one of the best units in the game, and one of the only two actually good Sinclair IDs: Cinq Sinclair!
Also a guick guide to get the most out of your free lunacy: You only ever really want to pull on event banners, pulling on the basic banner isn't worth it because you always have a chance to pull any ID no matter the banner so might as well only pull on banners with a Rate Up. And you never want to pull for E.G.O, the rates are awful and in no way worth it, just use Shards to get them from the Dispenser.
Speaking of that: Every time you pull an ID you already have (or open Shard Crates which you get loads of for free later) you get E.G.O Shards corresponding to that Character, you can then spend these shards to buy IDs and E.G.O from the Dispenser for free.
Now then, for a more detailed explanation of skills:
Your sinners have 5 skills in total:
    3 Skill 1s,
    2 Skill 2s,
    and 1 Skill 3.
Once all of them have been used your "deck" gets recycled like in Slay the Spire.
The coin number has nothing to do with which skill it is, that's depended only on the skill itself.
Single Coin skills are also usually best for clashing because they have high coin values on a single coin which is more likely to roll heads than 3 or more coins in a row for the same value.
(Example. Single Coin (4)+16=20, you only have to roll Heads once to get the full 20. But if the skill is (5)+5+5+5=20 you'd have to roll 3 heads in a row for the same value. The rolling heads formula by the way is at 0 Sanity you have a 50/50 chance to hit Heads, but at 45 Sanity you have a 95% chance to hit Heads, so at max sanity the difference isn't as noticeable but it´s still often safer to go with strong single coin skills like E.G.O)
But because of how the damage formula works they do less damage than a skill with 2+ coins, so if you need damage then it's usually best to use a skill with more coins.
Also 49:03 she is indeed the weakest Outis ID we have, and one of the weakest IDs in general actually XD
But this early on that really doesn't matter, and with enough skill the entire game, even endgame content specifically designed to be difficult, can be cleared with even the worst IDs in the game, that has been proven multiple times.
Also our in-game Heathclith is apparently WAY more chill than the one in the source material, which is insane to think about.
Hope i didn't ramble on with explanations too much(sorry if i did), and i hope you continue to enjoy Limbus Company!

Anyways any identity is usable though some are a bit underwhelming without team building and support. Just play whatever composition works and you find fun. Or whoever looks cooler, that's also a thing.

    More IDs this time:
Liusault is the weakest of the Liu IDs. But he's still solid and he inflicts burn like nothing else. Fun in Mirror Dungeons.
BL Yi Sang (Yaoi Sang?) is a poise ID, which are generally awkward as hell because the occasional +20% damage is not a particularly interesting gimmick. He however has the benefit of being an ID that builds poise _count_ , so he can actually stack the damn status effect unlike some others. Only really worth mentioning in early content or with Uptie 4, which alleviates his weaknesses somewhat.
Cinqlair is an amazingly good clasher and damage dealer whose main weakness is not being ridiculously broken. He's a poise ID done right. He also inflicts fragility with decent speed so other sinners can deal even more damage.
Zweidion is a contender for the worst ID, period. She has a weird gimmick where she tanks by building poise and turning it into shield, but she's not good at it and does nothing else.
Zweiclair is another questionable tank ID. He focuses on tremor, which isn't a good status effect, and isn't good at it either. He really wants Uptie 4 and is still not that good even then. At least his support passive is good for keeping your party alive.
First Mate Yi Sang is yet another poise ID and arguably the better one for him. He builds poise slowly, but consistently, and once he gets going he has good clashing and inflicts solid amounts of bleed.
Shotgun Ryoshu is another poise ID who does some tremor. She isn't especially amazing but her crits actually do stuff and she's fast af which is fun. She's also the most lenient ammo ID, only using up one bullet on S3.
Shi Quixote is, guess what, _yet another_ poise ID. Nominally, because she does nothing with it. She's fast and clashes well, especially with Boundary of Death At Home, but having a low coin count limits her damage potential.
BL Outis is the worst of her IDs, being largely incapable of maintaining her own poise unless you have Yaoi Sang on support. Her own support skill is a massive conditional damage boost however.
Talisclair is a hard one to gauge. When the stars align, you can dish out a ludricous amount of Rupture with ungodly amounts of damage, and he has decent clashing and damage otherwise. I've tried playing around using him on support for an alternative Rupture comp, but it's honestly a massive hassle. Uptie 4 is arguably a nerf to him so careful about that.
Neathcliff has solid clashing and damage, and can inflict the incredibly rare Plus Coin Drop debuff. He really wants to be in a tribal party though, which requires access to the right IDs, most of which being merely "good" and not "great", classic opportunity cost stuff.

Just to let you know, each Identity, as you probably already know, has different mechanics. So for example, Hong Lu can be a tank, do a lot of damage or can be a support, depending on the identity and its mechanics, have fun with the game. Ego is something you may want to use when you can't win the clash with skills, since usually ego has good coins, but it can also be useful to heal or protect, it depends on what effect the ego gives. Each ego also has a passive, they can be useful too.

[bit long, don't expand if you don't wanna scroll past tips for Foreman]
For quickly finding out what a status effect does, you can read its description on the left-hand side while you're forming a chain. Status effect descriptions pop up there, but you've evidently noticed. A major thing to remember is the difference between Potency and Count. Potency is the number on the Left, while Count is the number on the Right, when you're looking at the status effects beneath a character. Generally, each turn, every status effect loses 1 "Count," which means if someone has 1 "Count" of something, next turn the status effect will disappear on them.
I can give a quick rundown of the most prominent status effects:
Bleed: acts very similar to its Ruina iteration. Each time an opponent rolls a coin, they take fixed damage equal to its "Potency" and each time this happens they lose one Bleed "Count."
Burn: Acts like its Ruina iteration. At the end of each turn, the enemy takes dmg equal to the Potency and loses one Count.
Rupture: A new status effect that basically focuses on "True Dmg," being able to pierce through resistances. Each time an enemy is hit, they take fixed damage equal to their Rupture Potency, and they lose one Count. This activates on EVERY hit they take, so it's really hard to maintain Rupture. But in a Rupture dedicated team that has good Rupture Count maintenance, if you can stack it up to 99 Potency, you can basically shred bosses, especially so if you have multiple coin skills (because each Coin on a skill is considered an individual hit)
Sinking: A new Status effect that focuses on the Sanity (SP) system. Each time a character with Sinking is hit, they lose SP equal to the Potency value and lose one Count (but enemies with no Sanity gauge simply take fixed dmg. You'll encounter those kinds of enemies eventually.) Much like Rupture, it is hard to maintain because it triggers on each hit.
Tremor: A new status effect that focuses on the newly introduced Stagger Threshold system. When a skill activates "Tremor Burst," the enemy has their nearest Stagger Threshold moved forward by the Potency's value, meaning they would be easier to stagger them (because each stagger threshold is tied to an HP value).
Poise: a new status effect, basically the "Critical Hit" mechanic of the game. Poise gives a Potency based chance (Each point of Potency = 1% crit chance iirc) to land a Critical Hit, raising dmg by 20% (kinda underwhelming, but modern Poise IDs usually have a "[On Crit] Deal X% more damage." effect in their skills, so they perform better). Each time a Crit is landed, 1 Poise Count is spent. Which means if you have lots of Potency but not a whole lot of ways to maintain Poise Count, you tend to lose high stacks of Poise quickly, not to mention Poise Count draining by 1 each turn end. And this is where the issue with Poise is. Most Poise IDs that were released at launch (like Shi Don & Ish, BL Outis & Yi Sang) are a bit lacking without Uptie 4 (BL Outis even more so) in terms of Poise Count (aside from BL Yi Sang). However, fret not, modern Poise IDs like Pequod Yi Sang and Cinqlair gain lots of Poise Count with their Skills, so they're generally capable of maintaining their Poise pretty well.
[Bit of a side note, but Poise is my favorite Status Effect~ The Yellow dmg numbers that pop up and that tell-tale dinging sfx whenever a Crit is landed is so nice~]
Charge: You don't have any Charge IDs yet, but I'll add this here. It works exactly like in Ruina, except the maximum cap is 20 by default (no need for Triple-R Suit), and each turn you lose 1 Count. Charge has no Potency, only having Count. As you'd imagine, Charge is spent to give powerful effects (or simply to deactivate really bad side effects like targetting allies instead or losing 25% HP when you use a move without enough charge). You'll figure it out quickly, I'm sure~
Lastly, these are my thoughts as an Outis fan. I'd say keep using her Base ID (her LCB Sinner Identity). It's pretty decent when it comes to being a dmg dealer, and her Skills' Sin Affinities perfectly fuel her Base E.G.O. "To Páthos Máthos" (Suffering Becomes Experience). It's a pretty good EGO too, very cheap in terms of cost (2 Yellow Sloth and 2 Dark Blue Pride, which both her and Faust's Base IDs fuel perfectly), meaning you can spam this pretty easily (keep in mind, it does cost SP, if she goes below -40 she could end up Panicking on not act, heck going below 0 means she won't have a good chance of landing heads so she'll struggle to Clash and deal dmg, be warned)
Good luck, and most importantly, have fun~

glad to see youre enjoying yourself with the game Foreman!
    looking foward to more episodes!
    ========
Small notes of info as memory refresher:
-Count on status effect is number of how many turns/hits the effect lasts on unit before it "puffs" away, Potency is how heavy the blow of effect it is
-Thread (light bulbs) are stricte for uptying ID's and EGO's, i recomend using it on ID's first cause with each uptie, ID's skills gets enchanced and a passive's (on uptie 3 they got new skill which is the strongest in thier kit), once you finish canto 2, you can grind them off camera (same with EXP tickets)
-Lunacy Economy, its good to save on 10 pulls cause it most of a time increase the odds of getting better ID in gacha (also much less clicking),
also there will be pulling event soon that gives ID's and EGO's from LobCorp and Ruina (like forsaken murder mearsault ego page from ruina, or L.Corp Control Cap Faust from precious event)
    hope that helps ^^
(oh also canto's become longer and longer each time so at current pace you play there should be enough content so no worries)

Don't worry about difficulty. The future cantos get fairly more difficult. Especially if you play them before the inevitable day1 nerf. One fight in canto 5 left me with just 2 sinners alive and I'm sure that I would have lost had it gone on for even 1 turn longer. One of the best experience playing this game ever.

Im so glad that you played this game, when I origionally tried it I didnt exactly vibe with it but watching this got me into the mood to try it again and man, do I love it, cool ID's, cool attacks and cool enemies. One of my favorite things to do is that when theres like only one enemy left at like 7 hp is to just drag the chain across.
If you want to see more info on ID's skills like their attacks and stuff, click and hold on them when you are in a window where you can change your ID's, like the sinners tab or when you are about to begin a level

Bit of concern as to whether or not this game would catch my interest with what it has, excitement for new stories of The City, skepticism when I learned of the simplified mechanics. Then something clicked, and then it clicked again, I was reminded of Lob Corp and Ruina, and now I'm happy with Limbus Company, flaws and beauty both.

I'm so happy you're enjoying the game so far! I adore this group of violent morons so much, I'm excited to see what you think of them and the story as it goes along!
I'm also really glad you're experimenting with and checking out the different IDs. While yes, there's plenty of chatter over which IDs are weak and which are the 'meta' the game pretty much allows for you to play with which ones you want, which is how I've been playing and I'm glad since that's how I have fun with games like these. For instance, two of the IDs I like using for Sinclair are considered garbage by the fandom apparently, but that hasn't stopped me from using them and it certainly has stopped my progress. So I hope you continue to play in the way you find most fun! I am as surprised as you in how much restraint the comments have shown, at least in the last video. I'm so used to a boatload of back-seating and spoilers being thrown around for this game. :' D (not having a live chat helps I imagine)
    Anyways, looking forward to more!

Ayoooo!!!! Having fun Foreman? I wanna share a tip about the egos.
During the character select screen before every battle, there's a bunch of numbers to the right that tells you how much Sin Resources your team would have and be able to generate (example: WRATH 3/5, with 3 being the amount of resources your team can generate while 5 is the required amount to be generatd within a fight for a specific EGO)
You can in turn check the resources every ego needs just in case you want to go ugga bunga with one of them in a fight or build your team around a couple of them if you're feeling technical.

I dont know where you got the 2 or more coins is "better" for fighting than 1 coins, but it isnt necessarily the case. In this case what you should look for is higher coin 'power', a skill that has 1 coin but high power is still better for fighting in some cases than lets say a 2 or 3 coin skill but has low power.
In the first place a skill wouldn't be able to utilize the advantage of a multiple coins in a fight, that being its opportunity to launch multiple attacks, if it loses to an enemy skill that has a higher power than itself, which means losing their skill clash, and letting your sinner get hit. For me id rather get a skill with more certainty for it to hit than a skill that 'theoretically' can do more damage with more coins but wouldnt be able to hit
Though, id say the amount of coins isnt bad per say, just you should also consider how high they would roll against your enemies. Though at least for now you shouldnt worry about that in the early game. But a thing from the future. Just know more coins doesnt really equal for a good skill. what IS a good skill however is a skill with both high power AND high amount of coins, not just the latter
You can check the minimum power of a skill in the sinner tabs with the white number, and its maximum being the plus symbol followed by the brownish number being added to it, hope it helps you.

Multiple coins have an advantage in damage (compare Meursault's 4(+2)*4 dealing 36 raw damage to Ishmael's 8(+12)*1 dealing 20), but clash power is so important because good luck winning clashes with a power cap of 10.

Here's an explanation on how coins work and why more coins = more damage even if the roll isn't as high, I wish I figured it out earlier in the game, so figured might as well attempt my best at explaining it.
When you start a clash both sides flip all the coins, which (for instance if you have a +4 coin and it lands, it boosts the clash value by 4), whoever loses the clash loses a coin, so becomes weaker for the next clash. Once one side lost all coins the attack begins.
What I don't think the game explains in the tutorial is that you attack once per every coin you have left and flip one more coin with each attack.
So if you win with a 1 coin skill that has base value 4 and a +6 coin you either get 4 or 10 damage in (unaccounted for resistances), but if you have a base value 4 and two +3 coins you first deal 4 or 7 and then 4 or 7 or 10 damage depending on the previous roll, note that the first coin you flipped boosts the damage twice in total, so the emotion level bonus for good flip chances becomes twice more valuable for it.
Of course, if you lose a clash with it once you will only get the first hit in for the one coin you have remaining.
Hopefully I didn't mess anything up.

If I recall correctly the sins the Sinners have are actually based off the original deadly sins where you has your OG 7 Deadly Sins as well as the 8th which was Depression/Despair which is called Gloom (the light blue one) in Limbus Company.
Despair/Depression was eventually removed as it became associated with Sloth more and more until eventually being added to Sloth itself.

I'll write a short lil summary of the ID's you have, at the presumption of uptie 3
Pequod Yi Sang; is a bleed and crit (poise) character. He has decent generation for his own poise, though you will need other characters to support his bleed application
BL Yi Sang; is a Poise character that struggles to generate enough Poise for himself to capitalize on his increased Crit Damage on his Skill 3.
Shi Don; revolves around getting really fast with Haste and technically has poise. Though, when you see the skill 3 it's high power may make you wonder why it's need more power
LCCB Ryoshu; another poise character that has enough to support her. Skill 3 gives support for Rupture though
Liu Meursault; of course burn, though he has really low numbers on his skill 1 & 2. Skill 3 is going to be his best clashing tool if it ever comes down to it, and Skill 2 helps spread burn around if you're running more burn characters
N Heathcliff; his skill 2 is really good since it nerfs the power of the enemy's positive coins with Plus Coin Drop (it's a really weird sounding status). Skill 3 does pretty good damage and rolls well enough.
Shi Ishmael; being Shi association her skills only begin getting crazy when she's at lower health. Otherwise she still has solid numbers even without being at her lowered health
Zwei Rodya; she's a tank character with the ability to self generate Shield (temp HP) each turn equal to her Poise count. She can technically crit, though you'd have to be an insane person to rely on that when she can only generate Poise count.
Talisman/Monk Sinclair; he works really well with a Rupture team and is generally a quintessential piece to applying a lot of it fast
Zwei Sinclair; he's another tank character supporting his allies with Protection. His Skill 3 will generally be his only option for clashing, as his Skill 1 & 2 are well they certainly exist
Cinqlair; a Haste and Poise character he's very easy to use though it can be a struggle to generate the Poise Count he needs before he kills the enemy.

Don't worry too much about speeding through Limbus too quickly. Aside from the prologue, the first chapter is by far the shortest (chapter 4's script was supposedly 1/3 the size of Ruina's), and there have also been 3 sort of mini chapters (so far!) between the main ones that each add a fair bit more, so you've got a lot to look forward to still.

Something that's a bit irrelevant right now, but Pequod Yi Sang is one of my favorite units! Infinitely fun to use, his purple skill is pure dopamine when you end up activating its conditionals.
That's especially impressive because he's a "00", aka a lower rarity Identity. Something that I assume a lot of people already explained by now, but all of the Identities have either "00" or "000" (The base LCB Identities that you have by default are labeled as "0"), basically alluding to double star or triple star. By and large the triple stars, 000s, are *GENERALLY* stronger units, or at least have better clashing and damage output, while 00s are usually left for support or are to be used in specific team archetypes. There's a lot of exceptions, some of them have their crazy niches, and some are straight up busted, of course, but that's kind of the gist of it. Cinqlair goes hard.
Completely non-spoiler additional lore bonus: They chose the weird 0s instead of stars because, whaddayaknow, Kabbalah stuff again. The single "0" is basically read as "Ein", or... Ayin.
00 is Ein Sof, and 000 is Ohr Ein Sof. Apparently translate to "Nothingness", "Limitlessness" and "Endless Light"

debuff count is important. count in the second number. so for example if an enemy has burn 10 X 1 they have 10 burn and one count which means next turn they take 10 burn damage and the burn is all gone. if you increase the count to for example two and they have burn 10 x 2 they will take 10 burn damage at the end of the turn and instead of all the stacks being lost they will lose one count and go back to x 1 so you can keep the effort you went through to apply the debuffs.

Most status effects have a count and a potency. If a skill says "inflicts [status]" it means potency, and increases the effect of the status. Like burn damage at the end of the turn, bleed damage on clash, rupture damage on being hit, and crit chance from poise.
Every time a status effect is triggered, and usually at the end of the turn, the status' count is reduced by 1. If the count hits 0, the status is completely gone, meaning you can't build up high potency numbers if you never apply any count, and without a dedicated party and low enemy counts, this is very rare to happen naturally. Burn and Tremor have the easiest time with this, but they're also the weakest status effects. Charge as well, but that's less of a status and more of a resource, which is why it doesn't have potency.

When it comes to team building don't worry too much about what's meta or whatever since that’s all focused around E.G.Os you don’t have and content you haven’t unlocked. Plus if i remember correctly all the story content is balanced around you using nothing but the base IDs.
Instead i recommend you just find a team that works well together and get them to Uptie 3. Don’t worry about Uptie 4 yet, its super expensive and those resources are currently better spent elsewhere.
