Hi I love your work! Agree about what you said: other videos are not talking in detail about these settings. You're my professor :) I don't know if you already talked this in one of your videos but is it also possible to show your drone settings as speed / gimbal / ... ? Keep on posting !
Hey Matt, thanks a lot for your advices and video. I'm trying out the Mavic Pro, but I'm still not sure of the quality of the image : I can't understand if I'm to exigent or there is something wrong with the settings or the mavic pro camera.. If you have some time to take a look and give me a advices after taking a look at the raw files, if they are enough to being post produced and become nice looking. I leave you my mail, so you can write me there if you want, thanks a lot! oskar@babaustudio.it
I wish your format was a standard for tutorial videos!!! Breaking down all of the material in the description and highlighting the sections in the beginning of the video made this one of the best tutorials I've ever watched! You're a huge source of inspiration and an awesome teacher!!!
I just wanted to say that no other youtuber I've seen has covered the Mavic so well and so comprehensively. Thank you for all of the info. I bought a Mavic and it came in the other day so I'm still figuring it out/making sure its at 100% functionality. Your videos have went a really long way in helping learn about the Mavic. Thanks!
Dude, you hit the nail on the head! God can people just timestamp the info or just say it from the get-go? This is the video I've been waiting for ever since you said you had a Mavic. Thanks for the letting us know your settings! Keep up the good work.
I'm a beginner filmmaker and I have no words to describe how much you've helped me so far with your videos. You have become one of my favorite filmmakers to follow. I have a P4P and I've been noticing my footages very blurry and I think it may be due to the noise reduction algorithm you said... I used to use D-Cinelike -2 -3 -1, now I'm going to test your D-LOG settings and see if it gets better. Thanks man.
I rarely comment on videos but have to leave you a comment letting you know how much your videos have been helping me since I discovered you on here. Everything from shooting footage to how to study for the 107. Speaking as someone who was a trainer for years, you have a great way of explaining concepts in a relatable and sensible way. Thanks!
Matt, I haven't even finished watching the video, BUT I can't THANK YOU enough for giving the most important part and info at the beggining and event mention why! I have the same thoughts as you do. You are awesome and I'll continue to watch it now haha. Cheers man!
I just like the way you bring the message. Ok, with other channels I skip, just as you mentioned, but The way you bring it I really have to watch the whole video. Thx
bro that information on the sharpness was so helpful. I just shot some hiking footage at -2 sharpness because I always heard these drone "oversharpened" things...now I regret it, the trees look painted and you're right the texture in some colors is just gone. Like watercolor or pastel. I'm changing that at 0 NOW and will keep in mind that +1 override tip
Dude. Matt. This rules. I've been so frustrated with my Mavic lately - I've been getting just the worst footage - which is frustrating because as a media professional with a strong knowledge of how video cameras work, its a major bummer to get home after a golden hour flight and immediately dump all my useless footage in the trash. I almost regret selling my Phantom 3. However, you really did a great job of explaining your settings based on the CURRENT firmware, and spending time explaining how the Mavic behaves at different settings. I've watched so many videos and read so many forums, and been trying different things as often as I can in between PNW rain storms, and have gotten no where. I'm taking a trip this weekend and I'm going to try your settings - i'm looking forward to getting some great shots, thanks to you, your research, testing, and teaching. Much appreciated my friend!
Thanks Matt! Please keep these videos coming. I have just bought my Mavic Pro and any tips are really welcomed I have watched quite many videos on RUclips and I find yours to be the best combination of entertaining, informative and engaging.
This video is great. You complete addresses the nonsense we see on other channels where there is 20m blah blah for 1m facts. It's so nice how you presented it. I watched the whole thing because I wanted to undertsand the rationale behind it. Great work. Subded.
You are the hero RUclips needs. Thanks so much for your great content! You are so concise at the beginning of your videos and the content after is so in depth and helpful as well. You rock Matt!
By far the best informative youtuber out there. I have learned so much from your channel and the information is always concise, quality and helpful. Plus just seeing that beard is a plus. Thanks so much for all the work!
This video is Great. I've seen it many times before and followed your profile with success...Fast forward a year and 1/2 and I was losing my way, picture-wise making my own adjustments. Your video was a great refresher and just helped me CRUSH a Shoot using the Mavic for NBC SPORTS!!! Thanks MATT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Matt, really enjoying your info/tutorials. Found you a while back when you posted your Carnival vid on Cruise critic. Now you're hitting all my needs with videos like this! Great stuff man!
Matt this is awesome, thanks so much for the straight to the point details. It actually gives me more reason to keep watching because I know you're going to share more gems the further you go along. Your video export settings have been a huge help for me as well, so thank you!
I've watched a couple of your videos. Thank You, Good Sir. For putting the pertinent information up front, and in the comments. Will continue to watch more videos.
Matt, there should be a law voted, let me name it the "WhoisMatt" law of 2017. "Each and everyone individual that produces a tutorial/guide settings type of video on any web format, is obliged to share it immediately and before any other information" Thank you for being awesome, I cannot describe how I appreciate your timeline. Best from Greece, A.
This is so tremendously helpful. I got the watercolor nonsense at a really important shoot and had NO idea what I'd done wrong. Thanks for the clarification!
Really enjoy your videos Matt. Found your channel whilst searching for Mavic Pro settings, but I've also watched your Premier Pro post production videos and some of your wedding videos. Great job, very informative, easy to watch. Great work!
Amazing work as always Matt, extremely surprised you don't have more followers. Always the most useful tips and tricks. Will hopefully be purchasing a Mavic some time in the near future.
From one matt to another, thank you for this video! the comment at 3:14 about the watercolor effect, that is exactly what i'm experiencing!! i've had my sharpness at -3 for ages!
Thank you! Best video yet! Ive been doing so much research on settings and was beginning to get frustrated. I can’t wait for my drone to arrive! Thanks again!
Thanks so much for being so professional and not saying 100 useless things before sharing your PP. Also, having explanation on why you set each settings as you did is pretty helpful and interesting. And I can't wait to see your Iceland video, the shots you've shown already look really great :)
Awesome! Thanks for sharing, just got my Mavic a month ago and still toying with the settings and I agree with you most of the videos I have watched are a short documentary before actually getting to the settings lol. So thank you for putting it at the beginning.
Don´t own a drone and after watching 5 billion videos, i found your's. And they are great. And you're funny. And my fammily loved the videos. And now they want me to buy the drone. Thank you!
Nice video man. I appreciate you're up front description of your settings! I've been doing a ton of experimenting myself and have landed on +1 (or sometimes 0) with Neat video to be optimal as well. I think I'm going to roll with your less desaturated settings as well, as I always end up pumping in more saturation on D-Log anyway. I also just picked up some ND filters... been shooting at high shutter frames and using RSMB, which works, but it's even more taxing stacking that on top of neat. Good work!
Yeah, it's a pretty classic tool in the VFX Trade. Also if you do a lot of retimes and speed ups, slathering some RSMB on there can get you closer to that 180 shutter look. But ND filters on the Mavic are def the preferred way to go.
Thanks for your helpful videos Matt, really admire the work you´re putting into it. Been following you since I bought the A7s II in July and you´re videos helped so much!
YO MATT! Gedday from New Zealand.. thanks for this post.. super helpful. Using your settings in Mavic Pro and A6300 I'm getting wicked shots.. keep em coming brother! And NEVER lose the beard!
Awesome video, Matt!! I love your style and your direct approach. I learned more about the Mavic in this single video than I have in the last five videos I watched. THANK YOU!!
This is a fantastic video, Matt - you told us what you'd be telling us, then you told us, and you explained it really well. Best 11:21 I've spent on RUclips in a long time! Look forward to more... :)
Dude you are the best! Love your videos. You always make me laugh ahah! Super helpful video, particularly RE the muddy sharpness algorithm. I've been puzzled by this and I'm in Faroe Islands at the moment, so you have saved me footage for the next week :-)

I seem to be getting some flickering in some of my footage. I've been reading up on this and seeing people using Neat Video to clean it up, but is there a way to correct this in the camera? I'm wondering if my shutter is too high, but I'm using a Polar Pro ND 16 filter and still can't get the shutter where I want it to be while shooting later in the daylight.
Hey! This is an issue with all of DJI's drones except for the Phantom 4 Pro and their Inspire series. It has to do with how their codec records. It shouldn't be an issue with your shutter speed. If you still can't get your shutter speed down low enough, Polar Pro does make an ND32 filter.
Thanks for your awesome video! You seem very passionate about what you're doing and it shows - very informational and you have a wonderful "gift of gab"! I just got a Mavic Pro this week - today the Mavic Pro Platinum has been announced! Arrrggghh! Oh well, I can either A) Try to return/upgrade this one or B) Keep it (and practice practice) and get the "freshly designed" propellers when they're available for "maybe" a bit quieter operation...Thanks again - loved the video!
Hey Matt! Awesome video man. Are you able to talk more about how to focus the Mavic Pro properly? Especially for specific shots like how to focus on a horizon shot, and crane shot (both downward & upward of a subject) and flying back revealing shot etc I'm finding it hard to place my subjects in focus especially cause it's really hard to tell whether things are in focus when looking through your phone. FPV Goggles might be a different story but don't have those!

I have a dslr camera that shoot video at 1080p30, should i shoot 2.7/4k with the mavic and downres the video or go straight with 1080p?
Somehow this 11-minute video felt shorter than a lot of 3-minute videos on RUclips. So full of info. Thanks, Matt!
I wish your format was a standard for tutorial videos!!! Breaking down all of the material in the description and highlighting the sections in the beginning of the video made this one of the best tutorials I've ever watched! You're a huge source of inspiration and an awesome teacher!!!

+Erick Garcia thanks so much Erick! I would shoot with your sharpness turned up higher than -1. I've been using -1 and enjoy it.

Your rant on having to skip videos is golden. Luckily your videos are interesting so I still watched the whole video!
Hahaha thank you! Glad you understand my pain!
Wow! Answered a lot of my questions. Everybody talks about "settings" but you also explained a lot about "why" to use your settings. Thank you.
Glad to help! :)
Thank you for going straight to the point at the beginning. That is a huge bonus.
Absolutely fabulous pacing Matt. I feel like I never have to waite for it. Always trying to catch up with you. GO baby!
Matt, I haven't even finished watching the video, BUT I can't THANK YOU enough for giving the most important part and info at the beggining and event mention why! I have the same thoughts as you do. You are awesome and I'll continue to watch it now haha. Cheers man!

Awesome video as usual Matt, thanks. Couldn't agree more with your settings, the 30fps conformed to 24fps really gets rid of the nasty motion cadence. Looking forward to your DLog color grading process and Luts used. Keep up the content, it's some of the best out there.
Thanks Martin! :D
Thanks for sharing these Matt. Yey, you included footage of my beautiful city!. Would love to meet ya when you are in the ATX again!!! :)
Hey thanks Jay!
Awesome vid dude really helpful compared to others👌 sooo keen to learn the ropes on my Mavic 🤙
Perfect video, thank you so much. I have to admit I was already pretty close to the same settings, but the final tweaks were made in accordance to yours and it's awesome.
If you do end up coming out or suggestions a LUT please make an update video. I'm still learning about color grading video as I've spent most of my time flying and getting the compositions I want.
Cheers.

Big thanks for this video, even tho I have had mine for over 1 year, I got much new information from this!
Matt, i've just discoverd your channel and I love it. Thank you for being so time conscious as you describe in here. Really Appreciate it! THUMBS MF'ing UP!
hey Matt I just want to let you know that you're the best, have a nice day
+Vincent Pun 😁
Matt are you using a 32 ND filter? Your footage looks great and I've listened to your settings. Are you able to keep the shutter down?
Great video Matt! keep it up, This video is really helpful :D
+Ashen Silva thanks Ashen!
Sir, you just got another subscriber!! Congrats for the video!!
+Lance Huntress thanks Lance! Hahaha that's how it always happens! I think you should stick with your current Mavic.
Such a freaking helpful fella! Thanks Matt!
Honest review, loved it.
Hey Matt! Awesome video man. Are you able to talk more about how to focus the Mavic Pro properly? Especially for specific shots like how to focus on a horizon shot, and crane shot (both downward & upward of a subject) and flying back revealing shot etc
I'm finding it hard to place my subjects in focus especially cause it's really hard to tell whether things are in focus when looking through your phone. FPV Goggles might be a different story but don't have those!
Hey! The mavic sensor is very small and has autofocus. I've never had an issue keeping things in focus with this drone.
Thanks for this. I love your videos. Hopefully I can shoot video like you some day.
awesome beard!
PS: this is by far the best video about the best settings
Haha! Thank you!
