I’ve played all day after work yesterday with both controller and and the g920 and I got to say this is probably the first forza game I am going to online with the steering wheel
Forza G920. Really useful video with Forza landing on my doormat next week. Had a mixed experience with G923 on XBox and just downloaded the app for my MacBook as didn't realise there was a Mac version so hopefully will update the system. Looking forward the Fanatec review to come as next upgrade from the noisy wheel

Forza G920! Great review! I'll be using my G920 to play the game, I'll stay tuned in your channel for a settings video. By the way, if you use manual shifting with clutch and simulation damage, you'll damage your in-game clutch for each time you change gears without pressing the clutch, you can hear the gears grinding when this happens

Excellent review. Almost reminds me of the old Inside Sim Racing reviews from over a decade ago. I use a g920 rig with inverted pedals, hard springs, and gated/extended shifter. Found the new Forza unplayable due to the lag in the clutch and shift throw across most all vehicle performance categories. Try rev-matching in a downshift, for one example. Forza seems unique with this issue. May re-download later to try again. For now I will stick with the GOAT that is Project Cars 2 on Xbox Series X. Its single player mode is nearly endless, the title's physics engine, soundtracks, tuning interface, camera movements, tire modeling, and sense of realism, all remain unmatched to this day. Thankfully, Microsoft immortalized it on the store.

Forza G920, good to know, I honestly didn't even know this wheel was compatible with the series X, Thought it was only compatible with older Xbox's, Going to have to dig mine out.

Forza G920. Great review of an entry level setup. What height is your LG at to the middle of the screen? I plan to setup similar to what you show using a 120 Hz Hisense. TIA.
I hoping to get one for 300$ tomorrow. I don't have the new Xbox 1S but I have Forza 7 on the xb1 and will upgrade once I have a way. I'm a former courier that was pushing 300+ miles a day before getting hit and losing being able to drive without pain. I'm going to build a custom rig to race on that won't hurt my back, I hope at least!
anticipating a need to fine tune in game wheel settings for this to feel right - which will prob be a pain in the a. assuming you did the same?

I just wonder if your monitor was not in gaming mode? I saw people using these steering wheels and earlier review with zero lag.
Great review. But on another topic I just don't get shelling out $30 more just to get more virtual currency and cars you would have otherwise have gotten for free if you just put in the grind for a game. I mean that's what a game is meant to be - to be played and progress to be rewarded for your hard work.

Forza G920. Thanks for a very thorough and useful video. I'm just starting to get into sim racing after playing arcade racing with FH3-5 over the past year or so. My wheel purchase will probably be at least a few months away, but, based on the games I'll be playing, I'm wondering if you could tell me if the additional cost of the g923 is worth it. I'll be playing on PC, and the games will include FM8, the original Assetto Corsa, and Dirt 2.0; possibly the new WRC and maybe even FH3-5 (depending upon how well they work with the wheel). Thanks for any additional insight you may be able to provide.
In all honesty no it's not worth upgrading from the G920 to G923 if you want to upgrade get a direct drive wheel base. Hope that helps!
Can 100% say FM8 doesnt come with True Force, which is a big shame, even FH4 has True Force, i really hope they add that feature as it does make a huge difference
It absolutely comes with force feedback. 😂 the dude in this video is using for one, and I can confirm it definitely has force feedback. Check your settings

@@Kremer_ yes, I’m aware they are different 😂 I have the G923 with True force and I’ve been playing FM8 with it since launch. Very much utilizing the Trueforce. The guy in this video is also using true force. Trueforce is a type of forced feedback. I think you might be confused. Forcefeedback isn’t a TM. Trueforce is. Trueforce IS forced feedback. It’s just what they call their forced feedback system.
@@marcusjones2716 You are so wrong, FM8 DOESNT come with true force, i can categorically tell you that it doesn't, i can drive over some rumble strips and hear the noise from it, yet get zero feed back from it on my wheel, True Force picks up sound, thats what give it feedback

How do you do the manual shifter settings
Does the shifter work with the G293? It appears that you said it did but I can’t get mine to work.
Feels so good with G923 once adjusting settings a bit, so much better than FH4 or FM7

Have series s and g920, when i turn my wheel by 40 degrees in game its already at 180 degrees. Its hard to control the car, because it turns way too much. Is there a way to fix this?
The problem is on forza Motorsport. In f1 2020 the g920 works properly.

I won an auction for a used new in box 920 for 115 shipped only bc it was missing the 360 type dongle to connect with usb and I have one :3 I’m so excited to get it!! Then I plan on a desk mount for brake and Logitech shifter!! My car irl is broke down and needs some work but I can still drive in games!…. :c

I have the g923 and for some reason everytime I even barely touch the brake pedal, my cars brakes lock up and it pulls me left or right. Also, when slowing down and trying to turn, by car slides and tires squeal. Any help would be appreciated. Could it be I'm playing in automatic that's causing my issues?

I did the firmware update on my g923 and still won't work with shifter😢 manual with clutch😢 it keeps making me use paddle shifters
If you set the game to manual and clutch and you can shift the H-shifter without the clutch than I wouldn't say it works perfectly ;)

So I can’t shift at all, I don’t have anything to update firm ware, I have a g920 and need to be able to use my shifter, the padels works but😢 does any know how to make the shifter work?

just played this with g920 on a Xbox series X in a gaming zone for just 2$ an hour. Really enjoyed it. Idk why people say the g920 is bad and weak but it tired out my arms lol(first time)

As far as the wheels go, I've got both the Fanatec DD Pro and Logi G Pro.
Personally, I'd go the Logitech. As far as platforms - PC vs X Box vs Sony, ud be best to take advice from better informed ppl than me!

I have the g920, the thrustmaster tmx (don't know the latest model equivalent) and the fanatec 8nm setup. If you want a better experience I suggest g920 users upgrade to at least the thrustmaster.
I have a Fanatec AND a Logitech G Pro. What is the game like on the higher-end DD wheel?
@@supercededman first is why do you have both of those? :) so you'll see recommended wheel settings on other videos. recommended wheel settings only really pertain to the wheel that the guy used. so settings for the g920 for example may be too strong for the fanatic or g pro (because the g920 is pretty weak in terms of giving good feedback so with a g920, you crank a lot of settings whereas with a stronger wheel, you can dial in more subtlety). so when looking to recommended settings, just use them as a guide to understand what each setting does. then start dialing in the settings for your specific wheel. Unfortunately, that means if you use multiple wheels, you have to write down settings for each wheel. And you'll love the higher end wheels like fanatic once you dial in the settings. It's pretty vague at default settings.
@@onlysublime I should have explained. I have separate rigs, for my own apartment, and one (I rarely use) at my partner's house.
At the second rig I had a G29, and this was quite okay. It was only after receiving the Fanatec LC pedal kit - which had a inoperative throttle pedal - and the subsequent major hassles with Fanatec 'support' - that I had buyer's remorse. But I stuck with the DD Pro (and the plastic quick release is a VERY poor implementation of such a crucial engineering issue) and was reasonably happy for a while.
Then the G-Pro was released. I was not looking forward to experiencing Fanatec's fabled after-sales support when something inevitably broke (see their own forums), and thought seriously for six months or so before buying a Logi wheel. The DD Pro with 8nm and LC cost about AUS $1800 landed (inc shipping costs), and the G Pro a shade over AUS $2000 (shipping free), so not much in it.
The new wheel is now my main rig, the DD Pro on the weekend rig. TrueForce, on its own, is well worth the difference. Sure, there is only one wheel from Logi, but more will come, and it's a far better solution than the Fanatec IMO. The pedals are SOOOOO easy to adjust and change springs, elastamers. The Fanatec is simply a pain in the arse to install. Again, just my opinion.

Serious clipping going on there and the G923 trueforce can be a wheel breaker if it can't be lowered or turned off. Yes they work but forza just isn't optimised for a wheel. Dial it back and preserve your wheel or crank it up and ruin it and yes i talk from experience.

The G923 PS version WON'T work with XBOX or vice versa. It shouldn't be hard to control, seach for best wheel settings for G923 and the game you are playing it on to get the best setup. The default setup in Forza 8 is awful.
