Great video. A bit outside of the scope of this video - but I have a question. Before you apply the soap to your face is it best to moisten your face with a hot wash cloth or is that unhealthy for your skin? Or is there a better way to prepare your skin for the shave?

@@geoffrey_b There are some ways of prepping your shave, generally put warm water/towel on your or shave after a warm shower, these are best because it softens and lifts your hair so it's easier to shave off hairs. It's not unhealthy for sure, just don't put too much hot water because you'll completely strip your face's natural oils.

Thank you very much. What do you think of Shaving foam out of a spray can?

We prefer to apply shaving cream or soap with a shaving brush, because these products are in our experience more gentle to the skin and the brush gives a nice massage to your face before the shave :)

That's a soft way of saying spray cans are fu of chemicals

Foams or Gels out of a can are airy and thins out very easily after you lather (you can try this, later up on your face with Foam can and wait and see what happens to the foam). Soaps and creams have a richer lather, and holds that lather longer than foam from a can. Soaps/Creams lubricate much better providing a more comfortable razor glide with a double edge safety razor. Soaps/Creams are preferred by Barbers who are experts in the field of shaving with straight razors. Hope that helps.

How do you use stick with bowl?

You can take up some of the soap with your wet shaving brush (directly from the stick with a circular motion) and then lather it in the bowl.

The point of using a shaving stick is to skip the bowl and use your face instead...Much better

A good hint. Running water is actually not necessary for a close shave. The razor can also be rinsed in standing water.

Do not use fan motion. That requires pressing hard pressure and over time your breaking down the hairs and eventually get that fan shape. Use paint like motion to create lather. Great video.i subscribed
